  1. For anyone who saw and heard Billy Joel performing back in the 70s, he graced his performances with a whole set of impersonations spread out during the show. I have a bootleg of one of his performances in Miami during The Stranger tour. He pulls off some impressive imitations of McCartney, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, and Joe Cocker.
  2. We use 408’s for our floor wedges. Pretty hearty and loud speakers. For keys I prefer the 410’s.
  3. I am with you on that, Jim. I am just saddened that so many people on this forum find something to be negative about. Here we have one of the greatest songwriters of our time turning a corner and starts creating again. This, after his truly unexpected composing sabbatical. This is something that we should celebrate and acknowledge. And the song is pretty damn good! I agree that his voice sounds great, especially considering the wear and tear of touring and his age. Looking forward to hopefully a new album.
  4. You can’t go wrong with the Altos. I gig with two 2000w TS410 Altos in stereo, and they accurately reproduce Hammond and piano sounds in my 6 piece soul band. Plus at 68 years old I can easily carry one in each hand.
  5. i guess you forgot who was Marino’s coach… most consider Don Shula as one of the best ever. (See: “Hall of Fame”)
  6. Bottom line... It's a beautiful song with an excellent story, and passionately performed. That's certainly good enough for me. Thanks, Billy.
  7. I miss my 200 so much, but the 206 in my studio is pretty much the same instrument, and the keyboard feels so good! Wished the Rhodes I bought to replace my 200 felt the same.
  8. So I have been struggling with Set List Maker integrating with my MODX for months now, and Arlo has been kind enough to work with me on this. However, we have not been able to solve the problem. The problem has to do with correct program changes being sent from Set List Maker to the MODX. We discovered that some of the performances I use have a bank number of 63. So following Viv Savage’s useful suggestion, I changed all those bank numbers to 64 and found that in most cases, the problem was solved. However, I still have a problem. For some reason, when selecting a song, the program change is not always making it to the MODX. The performance will not be selected, or worse, the incorrect performance will appear. Sometimes, after hitting the song selection twice, the correct song will appear. In addition, all this does not occur for songs in sets 1, 2, or 3. Only in sets 4 or above. Its not a USB interface problem as I already tried changing that. Obviously, this would have disastrous effects on a live performance. So my question to the community is: I am sure some of you are using Set List Maker to send program changes to your MODX’s and Montages. Have you encountered problems like these? If so, what was your solution? What is your basic set up? I use Set List Maker running on an iPad with a direct connection to the USB input of the MODX. Thank you!
  9. Still… heavy as F**k! And this coming from a guy who used to lug around a C3, a 122, Clavinet, Rhodes, MiniMoog, and an Ampeg V4 stack!
  10. This is the same HC who boneheadedly passes on two field goals and lost by 3 points?
  11. Had a 200A back in the 70’s. Have a 206 now. Nothing like a real Wurlie.
  12. I am presently experiencing a critical issue with SLM and Arlo has been quite responsive in trying to help me. I too appreciate good customer service.
  13. I have found Set List Maker totally undependable in my rig. When I send the midi data from it to my MODX, it will activate the next song in the MODX setlist. But if I try to go back, or skip a song, the MODX stays in the current performance. Am I missing something?
  14. So do they really think that a purple piano will compel musicians to spend thousands of dollars to attend NAMM? After about ten years of attending, my NAMM days are over (and I live about 25 miles away from Anaheim). Just not worth it anymore. Too many people, too few inspiring products, same “is that all there is?” feeling… It’s kind of sad.
  15. I can only say one thing after watching this: Nugent is a supreme a**hole. (I was really hoping that Darwin’s Theory would hold and he would have shot his left hand off with his pistol)
  16. I have always disliked watching myself play. I hear and notice every clam that usually only musicians hear. I prefer not to watch anymore.
  17. I totally agree. You can’t beat 17 lbs… and I have also gotten used to it.
  18. Thank you for posting this amazing music. Dave Grusen, Pat Metheny, and the entire GRP catologue of musicians were a HUGE influence on my development as a musician. For people to badmouth this or any type of music, or the quality of the players, seems to me a sign of a very insecure person. You should badmouth nobody, and as a previous poster said, what record company did you create? and how many Grammys have you won? Dave Grusin was instrumental in developing quality recording using digital techniques. He was one of the first artists to create purely digital CDs of this fabulous music, not to mention all the work he created in films and television scoring. Brilliant musician, composer, and artist.
  19. Anyone notice the similarity of chord structure between this and BST’s “I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know”? This always bothered me.
  20. This is what I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088857VMD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
  21. In fact, all the Farfisa models of this vintage had that knee lever... Froth mini-Compact to the Duo Compact. It controlled volume and the multi-tone booster.
