  1. The OG cover band I'm currently rehearsing with has about 60% tunes I am familiar with. The other 40% I'm going to need lead sheets for. I finally ditched my trusty Apex for a K&M 18880 and a 18881 second tier. Is there a useful clamp on music stand for this rig? If not, what about a freestanding foldup music stand? I hate the skinny ones, I want a good quality tripod style. GC has their usually crappy "Pro Line" but I'm over that. I don't mind stepping up to something like the K&M 11960 or 11940. Is anybody using these? What are your thoughts on whether the bookplate should be perforated or not? I imagine we'd be playing some outdoor stages and I plan on using magnets or clips to keep the music in place when it's windy.
  2. I think I have the "latest" pianos for the Electro 2. When I said honky tonk, I just meant an upright that would cut through a mix. Not really anything detuned or chorused.

  4. Playing piano on the Electro's waterfall keys doesn't bother me per se. I'm not as picky as a real pianist about actions, but the lack of (for a better term) "feedback" or weight from the keybed does. Even though the Pratt-Read on my Wurlie is a little (!) uneven, it does feel pianistic.
  5. I'm likely gigging again with a 5 piece band after an 8 year layoff. Blues, roadhouse country, and classic rock. I'm a pretty mediocre piano player with small fingers but even banging triplets on the Electro isn't cutting it. I'm keeping my Electro2-61 for Hammond but I'm looking for a 73/76 board with a decent piano but not necessarily "realistic" action. For factory patches, all I really care about are 1 or 2 AP grand patches that hold up in a barroom mix, upright honky tonk (not tack), muscle shoals Wurly, and a couple of non "smooth jazz" Rhodes. Budget approx $1000-1500. Weight approx 20-30#. Would the Numa GT 73 be a good fit for me??
  6. I'm rehearsing with a new band and they are doing a nice version of Autumn Leaves G or Em. I think it's derived from the Clapton version. The chord chart they gave me is fooling me on one chord in the seventh bar. They show it as an F# 1/2 dim. I've copped a lead sheet off the interwebs in B-/D that shows this as a C# min7-b5. How would Nashville numbers chart this? Also if I'm in G/Em would I voice this? F# A C D#?

  11. Anybody owning an S1? I'm not a real demanding piano player. Application would be weekend warrior blues and oldies in a 4-5 piece group with a bass player.
  12. I'm using a Yamaha FC5 footswitch (Normally Closed) which seems positive and worked without any mods. I was watching Elliot Lewis the other night on LADH, and it looked like he had one sitting on top of his Electro. Maybe he had it velcroed down.

  14. I'm tired of chasing my floor switch around with my toe. Who makes the best keyboard rail mounted Leslie switch? I don't mind spending the money for something reliable, and hopefully quiet. The Nord one is pricey at $160 for a CRL E2-3way switch that costs about $25. The Hammond CU-1 looks old skool, but the chorale/tremolo markings are a sticker not silkscreened, so who knows what the internal switch actually is? Tonewheel General looks like he stocks the real deal with the cork on the bracket and the price is about $100. I can wire a 1/4" plug to the zip cord.
  15. Adhere to the stand, the instrument or both? Objective is to cushion and prevent scratches or to prevent instrument from sliding?
  16. Props where props are due. Grew up listening to Huey, Fats, Bobby Marchan, Ernie K-doe, Benny Spellman and Earl King. And yes, Johnny Vincent did screw over Huey when he released Sea Cruise on Frankie Ford.

  18. I disabled as many Google "helpful" apps and preferences as I could but I couldn't figure out how to setup an android phone without a gmail address. I have other emails and browsers and search engines that I use.
  19. I have the Warneck with my 200A. It's very clean. No hum. I'm not certain that the vibrato is the same as the original but it's good. Well worth the money to me. I do understand Steve's need to stay original with his though. Real studios have a bag o' tricks to notch out hum and other offending anomalies in the mix.
  20. I like this idea too. I'd use what racers call pip pins. Most of them have split rings where you could make little lanyards and attach them to the stand so they wouldn't get lost. www.mcmaster.com/pip-pins
