  1. Paul Simon worked with them when he was in South Africa back in the day, That is how I found out about them.
  2. RIP Joseph Shabalala If you never heard these guys sing play the video link below. Ladysmith Black Mambazo founder, Joseph Shabalala, 78, died on Tuesday morning at Life Eugene Marais in Pretoria, group manager Xolani Majozi confirmed to TshisaLIVE. Majozi said Shabalala was with his wife, Thokozile Shabalala, during his last moments. "Yes it's true. Mr Shabalala passed on this morning. The group (Ladysmith Black Mambazo) is on tour in the US, but they have been informed and are devastated because the group is family."
  3. 66 Is far too young, RIP Lyle Mays
  4. I will probably buy another Fender Super Champ X2 and use Bluetooth speakers and my MP3 player to play my backing tracks. I just downloaded the editor for the SCX2 and the firmware update just in case I pull the trigger on that amp. It has everything but BT playback I have the Bluetooth speakers and MP3 player so I am good in that department. I once had a SCX2 and sold it, this time I won't make that mistake selling it if I do get one. Here is my test recording of the SCX2 I once had. It is good enough for road trips, and small jams. (Not quite the tone I really like, a little too bright for my taste but passable) Clean leads halfway and then I kicked in the overdrive channel. I used the on board Verb which is quite passable. No editing or EQing done on the recording or added effects. If the next tune comes on automatically give that a listen also, it is called The Pearlberg Hotel, a hippy commune I once lived in. In Cardiff By The Sea California, https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=12104751
  5. @Larryz, The Street Cube EX 50 looks way cool, almost perfect. Can you run it plugged in, just in case the battery is low? is there a computer editor for tweaking the sounds, and then saving them to the amp? Does the amp come with foot switches? Or are they extra. Can you save edits to the amp sounds if no editor is available? I will go out and download the manual.
  6. Thanks amigo. I will look into any that the folks here think may do the job.
  7. I would like something that sounds similar to a tube amp with a stereo input for backing tracks as well as the guitar input. With separate volume control for the BT's that I will play using my MP3 Player or laptop. The amp can be small (The smaller the better) no need for high wattage. Must have a full tone stack, and channel switching. And Inboard Reverb is Ok too.
  8. This is a good'un https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HHPHpx5bjc
  9. I dug all those groups NRTOPS, Poco, Flying Burrito Brothers also. I bought their albums, of all of those groups, I can't say a better compliment than plunking the cash down on the record store counter. That is the highest compliment I can give any performer.
  10. RIP Kirk Douglas, he wanted to make a hundred and he outdid his wish, Good on you Kirk, RIP.
  11. Buddy Cage RIP, he played Pedal Steel for The New Riders Of The Purple Sage
  12. I agree with I agree with the spray can of lacquer.
  13. I use only a reverb pedal with my overdrive pedal. No chorus and no modulation pedals anymore. I used to have all of those things back in the day, but slowly I began to want a more standard sound from my amp/guitars, with a little touch of 'verb.
  14. RIP Andy Gill, I was not aware of him nor the Gang Of Four at all. Rest in peace Andy Gill.
  15. @Larryz, now that I think of it I have seen the Johnny Cash show when it was broadcast back in the day.
  16. I watched Glen Campbell show every evening that it was on. That was a good show and what a guitar picker Glen was. He finished his life out here in the Phoenix area, a sad case of dementia got him. I never saw the Marty Stewart Show but he sure is a great picker himself, and has been since childhood.
  17. I never saw those videos myself but the country pickers always amazed me. I was never a big fan of the singers, but I sure admired the sidemen a big bunch....
  18. I watched Porter Waggoner every week back when it was on. The Opry also.
  19. @surfergirl As you I told you before my son is married to a Filipino Medical Doctor woman. They both travel back and forth between New Jersey and the Philippines. My kiddo wants to move over there when he retires in a about 10 years or so, he worked in Server work and made a ton of Social Security and pension earnings and he will live like a well off man over there. In the mean time they both visit with each other every few months and he can actually work over there for short periods of time on the internet.
  20. Circle Country music, plays the old Hee Haw shows and I will up date on what else they play, it is part of the Fox over the air Network. I tuned in to our local weather channel 3.3, over the air in Phoenix Az and there was Roy Clark and Jerry Reed doing some pickin and grinnin, so I had to find out what happened in the hours since I last checked the weather. Turns out Fox moved weather to 3.4 an added Circle TV to 3.3, I am stoked......I loved those old country shows. I hope they do the old Opry shows with the classic performers of the past as well as the new ones. Fingers crossed.
