So I’d put this in the ‘what are you listening’ thread, but my search skills are lacking at the moment 😩 I saw these guys at the Texas Eclipse Festival (which was a bizarre s**t show in several respects), but this was good stuff amid all the EDM craziness. I guess it’s a form of electro-funk? They are a brothers duo, was pretty far back from the stage so couldn’t really see how/if they were actually playing live, but it was definitely a lot of samples and tracks somehow. The sound crew really had the bass pumped up, the low end funky synth hooks were very cool. All kinds of sailboats here in the San Francisco Bay. Huge, midsize, tiny training sailboats, racing. You’ll see small flotillas of tiny sailboats being followed around by a trainer boat - teaching little kids to sail. When the wind kicks up - that’s when fishermen stay off the water, but that’s when sailors get excited! Occasionally you’ll see an America’s cup racer, crazy huge boats with big crews. I have a friend that’s been restoring an older sailboat here in Sausalito, around 40’, tons of teak on the deck, huge job - taking him about 2 years. I have a 26’ fishing boat with outboard engines. It’s expensive to maintain, but ya gotta do it, otherwise they’ll deteriorate quickly. Right now I’m putting a new coat of ‘bottom paint’ on the hull - designed to withstand stuff from building up, algae, barnacles.

$1,000 might not be unreasonable to get rid of it. It looks like it’s been exposed to the elements. Can’t tell if it’s being stored on a trailer? If it’s sitting on the ground, likely some rot going on underneath. There very well might be folks interested in restoring that boat. I’m more into fishing boats, and some guys will take on really run down wrecks, and turn them into beauties!

Yes, outside Austin. The festival was canceled this morning due to the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning. So we got out of there, and began to chase patches of blue sky. Found a spot, the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express in Marble Falls TX 😁 Getting some good views!

So I'm at this wacky festival in Texas, a mix of things, saw one duo yesterday, really enjoyed it, called The Floozies. Very funky, super aggressive keyboard driving bass lines. Seems like most of the music is EDM, and it's goes all night, thankfully I have noise canceling headphones 😁. Tomorrow night Vulfpeck will be playing. Out of the 400 artists lineup, they are the only one I recognize. The festival attendees... boy oh boy oh boy. I guess in line with the theme of the festival, I've never seen so many moons. As for the eclipse itself, the forecast is not looking good, DANG!

haha that’s hilarious! After a quick scan, my top 3 = Dark Side of the Moon, Black Hole Sun, Rocket Man. These are can’t miss! I’m actually going to an eclipse festival in Austin TX. My wife figured it all out, looks like about a thousand different ‘experiences’, music, science, on and on. Vulfpeck is on the roster so that’s cool. I’m pretty sure I’ll burn out before the actual eclipse. Checking the weather, looks like thunderstorms, rain and clouds during the eclipse. Nice.

I had to layer additional AI cyber algorithms to my tracks to prevent them from being able to be split. So many people trying to split my tracks without paying me. Taylor Swift, Brad Pitt, Mick Jagger, Zac Effron, Wolf Blitzer, Dave Grohl - all have been trying to split my tracks, and that’s just in the past week.

A guy I played with last summer used a Maschine, he loved it. Used it primarily to trigger various samples.
