  1. I agree. And I keep hearing that the Bears may retain Eberflus. But if Harbaugh is available and wants to coach for the Bears, what should the organization do?
  2. As a coach, Harbaugh has won wherever he goes. He's not without his controversy, of course. And I understand that Warren and Harbaugh don't exactly see eye to eye on things, so I don't know how much that would impact the Bears' decision in hiring him should it come to that. But certainly as a fan looking in from the outside, I would hire Harbaugh in a second if I were the Bears. The Bears have generally sucked since Lovie Smith was shown the door after a winning season except for the first year in which Matt Nagy was coach. So as an organization, you have to ask: who do you trust to take you to the Super Bowl? Eberflus? Or Harbaugh? Ask that question, and to me, the answer is very clear.
  3. Bears fans are constantly let down, that's the deal. It's something promising, yet inconsistent. "Next year will be better." The next year is inconsistent again. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. It's little wonder they sound depressed. We saw the potential from the 2022 season, and were a bit more excited, so I suppose 2023 is a larger letdown than normal despite more than doubling the win total from the 2022 season. Add to that the three games with 4th quarter meltdowns, and it's another aggravating year. I will say this. The Bears are #1 in finding creative ways to lose a game. Getsy is not a good offensive coordinator. If I were Warren/Poles, I would show him the door. I know there's Bears analysts saying that if you keep Fields, you will introduce him to a third offensive system. That's true. But Getsy, at this stage of his OC career, is not going to get you to the Super Bowl. I'm not sure that he gets you to any meaningful playoff victories. He does not know how to adjust when the opposing team invariably makes changes and shifts to their game plan. He runs three screen identical screen plays in a row. He tried to make Fields a pocket passer. Calls running plays on third and long. Plays super conservative when having the lead. Not taking advantage of the QB's mobility and doing more roll-outs and moving the pocket, especially when it's clear that the front line is not stopping the pass rush. I could go on and on, but he's not a great OC, and I don't know of a single person who thinks he is. If I were Warren/Poles, I would go after Harbaugh or someone else who is really gifted. Say what you will about Fields. He has improved. He is arguably the most explosive NFL QB. But he's inconsistent, and he's had the detriment of some inferior coaching. Anyway, it's wearisome being a Bears fan because this is what happens year after year. This off-season and next year will be interesting regardless, and hopefully it won't be wearisome again.

  6. Awesome. And glad you like the advice! As I believe you know, I purchase used almost all the time. And not just for camera gear. I buy tons of stuff used. I've never owned a new car either. They're too expensive and I don't like constantly making payments.
  7. Leibovitz is very talented. She sometimes goes out of her way to make her subjects uncomfortable. Method to her madness. Very talented photographer. That's genius.

  12. That would be fascinating. The closest he's come to this is this remix competition many years ago: https://musicthing.blogspot.com/2006/06/peter-gabriel-remix-competition-win.html
  13. He sounded fantastic in person during the concert that I saw in Los Angeles recently.
  14. I'm not surprised that this photo is complete BS. I think I saw this making the rounds a while back. This sort of thing is only going to get worse as AI-generated images become more photorealistic. It's already surprising how many people are easily fooled by even the most ridiculous images, and this technology is only getting started.
  15. I never thought that firewire would ignite people's passions by this much. I will say that if you don't like how Apple supports tech that they developed, you're really going to need to be wary of Google products.
  16. For sure. You might choose a high-end compressor for a number of reasons, sometimes like what Brother Dave is describing. But drawing out mouth clicks or altering the amount of breath fade-in isn't among those reasons.
  17. I've always gone easy on compression. I don't use it to excess. In the analog days and when I had a board, I recorded vocals with a finger on the fader. I raised it and lowered it slightly. To do this, you better know the song, though. Now, I record digitally. I use compression to "shave off" some of the transients, but otherwise have it so it's not very heavy-handed. I use automation or clip gain for a lot of stuff instead of compression. So I still go easy on compression. Is it more work? Sure. Does it sounds better? I think so. P.S. I am fully aware that if I had an extremely high-end hardware compressor, I may be singing a different tune. However, I do not, and neither do most people.
  18. Yes, I'd say 42-zip qualifies as "already over".

  20. I have never heard the Manley Massive Passive plugin. I have, however, heard the hardware unit. It's the best, most musical EQ I have ever heard. If the plugin sounds half as good as the hardware unit, it's gotta be great. I know Eveanna, but would say this regardless. That EQ is amazing.

  23. I didn't put my MacBook Pros on the "good" list for that very reason. I have had a couple of those (2011 and 2012), and both have completely dead batteries. Thankfully, we did not experience anything that was much worse than that. Bursting into flames is not a feature I want in a laptop. All my other Apple products have been more than solid.
