Listening to that first vid, I immediately thought of both Derek Trucks’ and Bonnie Raitt’ slide techniques. Also a bit of Chris Rea’s and Gary Clark, Jr.’s taste in dirt.
But that fingering? Whooooooooooo!

I haven’t been to his studio in years, so I don’t know how deep he’s into MIDI. But I know it’s DEEP. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out he had this in his sights already.
Thing is, of the musicians I socialize with face to face with any regularity, he’s the ONLY one I know for a fact who is using MIDI at all.

It's not really a "Cool New Effect", but . . .
This thing is intriguing, if you're using a variety of MIDI-controlled gear live. It wants to be a sort of Swiss Army Knife of Controllers, with three different types of MIDI I/O, an EXP Control In jack, and a Utility Out jack that seems to function as an external control footswitch. (Think Tap Tempo, Hold effects, that sort of thing.)
I like the idea, but I think anyone who really needs something like this would also need more of, well, everything, MIDI I/O's, more switches, and more Utility Out jacks, so in the end, you'd wind up with something much like the big red pedalboard the guy holds up early in the demo video. If you already have a pedalboard-style MFX, you can probably duplicate many of the Futurist's MIDI control functions, and some of its other control functions, from your existing pedalboard.
FWIW, if you're not using much, or any, MIDI gear, this video will probably be of little interest to you, but it is an indication of where things are going.
I might have to pass this along to my recently deceased maternal aunt’s 2nd ex. He’s a studio/session musician & producer out of NOLA, and his personal rig has become progressively more MIDI-centric.

Here's that new Peter Gabriel song:
At times, it almost sounded like Gabriel was channeling Roger Waters before returning to his classic self.

Rio Grande, The Creamery, Vintage Vibe all do. Bareknuckle might.
CEB, do you know which Reverend? I’m kind of a Rev junkie, so you piqued my interest.

If you think of your band as being “musicians’ musicians”*, name your band Alias, A.K.A. Alter Ego and have members adopt stage names that are the REAL names of notable musicians playing the same role in their careers.
Soooo, you might have “Reginald Dwight” on keyboards, “Chaim Witz” on bass, “John William Lowery” on guitar, “Bryan Kei Mantia” on drums, “Prince Rogers Nelson” vocals...
* or are egotistical, or are a true smartass

As a former cellist, I agree about rosin. If/when* I buy a pickaso, I’d probably designate 1 acoustic guitar per tuning for its use. Maybe one hollowbody electric, likewise. I could really see this with the right hollowbody getting that true bow attack & sustain (as opposed to an eBow of sustainer system) through an electric guitar pedalboard, even if the sustain isn’t as long as it would be with a bow borrowed from the violin family, a la Jimmy Page.
I also agree that the pickaso is something that has a strong enough sonic character that it has a very real danger of being overused. And if overused, it could become tiresome. While nobody really abused Page’s bowing technique, this has more potential in that regard because of its comparative ease of use.

Not an effect, but a bow made (primarily) for guitars:

That’s the Pickaso. It has synthetic hair on 2 sides and a pick incorporated into the handle.

Every time I see a discussion about Klons- especially their prices- I think of a picture of one of Andy Summers’ pedalboards. He was running THREE on it.😲

Just as an FYI…
I was listening to NIN’s “Closer” on YouTube last night, but at 2x speed. It sounded like a Devo cover!🤪

The Cult have a new album coming out. IMHO, the title track sounds like it belongs on a James Bond movie soundtrack.

More than you know!
Aerosmith is one of her all-time favorite rock bands. They were coming to town with Slash’s Snakepit opening, and she asked me if she bought tickets, would il taker her. I did NOT hesitate.
Neither did she: she found tickets within an hour. The only down side is that the concert was on choir practice night. (She was “Choir Mom”, not an actual performer.) We went, and had a good time. She wasn’t familiar with Slash beyond a few GnR tunes, but enjoyed his set for the most part. And Aerosmith’s set was- as you might expect- essentially a greatest hits list.
BONUS: the googly-eyed stares we got when she told the choir director the next week why she had missed practice were EPIC!

Tangent:
The only time I’ve seen Aerosmith live- taking my Mom, no less- was just a few years ago. Brad Whitford busted out a Visionary Instruments guitar for a song or two.

Not only is Video Killed The Radio Star the first video ever played on MTV, it is also perhaps well known for the fact that Buggles keyboardist Geoff Downes was also a member of Yes and Asia in the Eighties.
Fellow Buggle Trevor Horn was as well.

I wouldn’t call GC, Jr. my fave…but I wouldn’t say that of anyone. He’s definitely highly regarded in my pantheon of guitar gods, though!
Dude definitely has chops and writes some killer tunes.

And the answer is:
ThorpyFX Ltd: “Hi I it’s designed with loop switchers in mind. When you adjust the switch Internally it can go back to normal cable use too. all the best, Thorpy”

Given the opportunity, I'd go with the CS TRS IO version; as long as I was certain that it can also be used with standard mono TS patch cables for serial/mono operation.
Just for clarity's sake- I do NOT mean to doubt you!- you're referring to a loop-switcher, where one connects all the Ins and Outs of various pedals to remotely switch them each in and out of the signal-path in various combinations... right?
As opposed to the type of looper that records and repeats a musical phrase or passage that one p[lays into it, for overdubbing during a performance live and in real-time... right?
These two similarly named but completely different devices get confused all over the internet...
THAT is an excellent question I hadn’t even thought of! Might need to dash off an email…

I’m intrigued!
I’ve been thinking about learning how to make hot chili oil at home for years now. There’s a place near me that makes the best I’ve ever had, incorporating pan-toasted garlic and ginger in addition to the chili flakes. It may not be as hot as some, but when it gets mixed with a sweet sauce or something like honey, the flavor just BLOOMS!

Well, it’s putting me in a slight quandary: IF I buy a Heavy Water, which version should I get? Is it worth the extra $$$?* It’s very much that old dichotomy between having and not needing Vs needing and not having.
* keeping in mind, of course, I still haven’t bought a looper!🤪

Additional data point:
I was just looking at their website with an eye towards purchasing the Heavy Water, and saw this:
”For 2022 We've added a CUSTOM SHOP version for those that use loopers and want to activate both sides independently. In this case choose TRS In/OUTS.”

The OBNE Dark Star is a cool OLD pedal, but this is one of the better demos of it I’ve seen, and from a fairly new guy.
