Docbop
I dig this basic just fire them up and play a bit and listen shoot out of a real road dawg B3 and the clones including Hammond's clones. None of the clones have the sound of the real thing, they are all too pure sounding, no grit, and no soul. My favorite line when talking about his old B3.... She's my hoodrat, she don't look wonderful, but she gives me everything I need. [video:youtube]
Delaware Dave
Yep, saw this last week. He runs everything through the same leslie. What it shows me is that the differences in the organ tone between the clones is very small against the real B3, actually not much different than the differences between a late 50's vs. a late 60's organ, both in C/V differences and brightness in tone. Differences between a real hammond vs. another real hammond and a real hammond vs. a top of the line clone are similar to my aging ears. When the internal leslies are introduced (which was not part of the above demo) between the clones then the differences are more noticeable. My two cents, what do I know ..... Outkaster
I think we are at the point of splitting hairs compared to the clone wars of the nineties and mid 2000's. The Real MC
YT demos don't tell the whole story. The XK3c engine has some menu overdrive settings that can dial in some grit. I've gotten some nice overdrive from the XK3c that improves the tone, works better than the XK3.
