After 6 LONG months, It's finally done. It's pretty much an all in one writing, recording and rehearsing man cave. Having a sound-proof and creative space was my priority, and I think I was able to achieve that goal pretty well. Most of my audio gears will stay in the bedroom. I'll only bring in stuff that I really need. I hired out only for electrical and AC installation. Everything else was done by my amazing uncle whom I'm forever grateful to.... . I did the research and followed his instructions with my sissy hands like he calls it.

The internal space is about 18' x 19' or so (with ceiling peaking at 13') which is the biggest size I was allowed. It's a room within a room structure with double studded walls, double thick drywall, soundboard and cavity insulation and so on and so forth. I'm not going to miss working with silicone tubes for sure!

That is awesome!!! Congratulations to you (and your uncle!!!).
I have a decent little home studio in my living room, it does not compare at all but I can still be creative which is important.

Maybe post in this thread?

This is still a great place for it, with the link added it will drive traffic to the new forum.

This is the busiest forum which is great but it would be nice to see some of the other forums pick up traffic, interesting things are happening!

I was already prepared to tell you how beautiful it looks (and how beautiful it must sound) -- and THEN I saw the Kawai. Congratulations! Here's to many years of happy music-making in that space.

Wow, great work! Beautiful-looking space, may congrats to you and props to both you and your uncle for pulling that off. Doing it in 6 months is impressive, too - having built my own studio, more-or-less single-handed, I know how much work is involved.
Enjoy it!

can't believe you got that done in 6 months. What dedication. Most excellent. 2thu

A reason why I collect old keyboards is that I feel partly responsible for doing it, responsible for preserving history and being a custodian for these things
Plus, old gear has a story. I like that.

Thank you very much everybody.

Yes, we made all the panels from scratch. I did the fabric shopping in downtown LA. Very cheap!!!

Thank you guys.

My gear list is a short list:

1) Monitors: LG Ultrawide 49 - Samsung 65" UHD 7

2) Audio Interfaces: A very old Digi 002 , Apogee Duet , Antelope Zen Studio

3) Bunch of Beyerdynamic dt 770 ...etc

4) Mics: AKG 414 , a pair of Neumann KM 184 and bunch of Shure SM mics

5) A number of midi controllers from AKAI, Novation, M-Audio., Arturia Essential..but the one I use the most for DAW works is AKAI Advanced 61.

6) Keyboards/sound modules: Korg Pa4x, Korg Pa3x, Kronos 2 , Casio S3000 , Muse Research Receptor 2 , and some older Roland and Korg modules

7) Motu Midi Express XT

8) Behringer FCB1010

9) Discontinued Roland Vocal VP-770

10) Kawai GL-40 and a bedroom Yamaha Upright

11) Focal Twin6 be monitors

12) ART Headamp 6pro (headphone amp)

I think this is it pretty much.

Thank you guys. Yes, the amount of work is INSANE. You'll know when you see some pictures of how it looked before. On YouTube I see these latino workers lifting drywalls like a piece of paper...then hold it with one hand and putting screws with the other!!! I bought one of those drywall lifters instead. That's also what we used to hold drywall against the ceiling. Highly recommended!

Yes, it's very easy to lose track of time in there.

They sure are. Focal Twin6 be, but I don't have the sub just yet. I'm not sure if I need one.

Thank you. Not everybody agrees with the red, but I like it.

There's one in the picture, but it blended into the background. wink

The great thing about music is that there's always something to learn. The frustrating thing about music is that there's always something to learn!

Congrats! It looks like a great space! There is nothing better than having a dedicated space that is always available for making music.
