There are a few folks that do some amazing things that I would like to take a moment to point out.

Pierson Amps - He has been building wonderful tweed reproductions with a very high degree of construction and build quality for a while. He is known mostly for his Tweed Champ and Tweed Deluxe. Pierson is now building a Fender Deluxe Reverb and Low Power Tweed Twin. On a side note, he asked me to work with him on a custom amp that I loosely designed around a Fender 55 Tweed circuit but the amp will have higher plate voltages, turret board constrction, special design Mercury Magnetics transformers, twists in the circuit for different gain properties, custom tolex cab with tuned baffle board, and some other twists. There is more on Pierson amps at http://www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/tubecellar.html

Phil Jones Bass - Simply put .... the finest bass amps in the world. I discovered these at 2005 NAMM and have been blown away ever since. My "standard" had always been the venerable Ampeg SVT until I played these amps (in all sizes) I have some stuff on my website at http://www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/pjb.html There is more at their own site at www.philjonesbass.com

If you are looking for a jazz guitar amp in the vein of "Polytone" Phil Jones has a killer 110 watt ultra compact amp that is a bass amp but also is one of the best small club jazz amps and nicest clean recording amps for guitar that I have ever seen. More on this at http://johnedmonds.net/pjb/ where this player uses his on a Chapman Stick! I have one of these and love it (front of pix)

http://www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/images/DSCF0001.JPG

Jeff Earl at JDesigns (speaker cabs) - amazing workmanship, good value, great sounding, and he does great custom work too. He has a product called "add a baffle" that allows the use of a 10" speaker in a 12" space (and other sizes too) that is pretty amazing. More on Jeff at www.jdesigncabs.com

Ben Fargen at Fargen Amps - hand built amps in a range of types that are WAY underpriced. After the 2005 Amp Show had been over for a few weeks I kept thinking about his "Blackbird" that was one of the amp I had played. I finally broke down and bought one. I have always loved Fender Black face deluxes and this amp fit the bill for me so I did not have to use vintage amps on the road. Ben Fargen also has some Brit agressive styles and a few amazing lower power recording masterpieces. www.fargenamps.com

Here are a few pics of my latest build here at RockBeach... my chambered body Bloodwood/Cuban mahogany CamelBack with improved upper fret access and maple/cocobolo inlay. I am also showing the unique conduit which makes pickup service and installation a breeze... Pics show the body just wetted down with mineral spirits. It is still rough sanded and has no finish on it. It is the natural color (the back color came out more accurate on the photo for some reason). You will also see on the back view how I have scroll cut the access panel from the guitar back so the grain is "seamless". Neck will be built when customer specs are determined. Contact me at boggsplace@yahoo.com for inquiries on this guitar build and pricing. Boggs

I've got the "MagPi" dual passive pickup system available for install in your acoustic guitar. This is developed from the MagPi system that is currently used in my electroCoustic series of acoustic/electric guitars.

Install is very simple( about 10 minutes ), assuming you can have the required 1/2" hole in the butt block of the guitar ready to go. You can see from the photos the magnetic pickup includes a balance control in addition to the volume control...both are located on the magnetic pickup mount. The mag is adjustable for height, and the soundboard transducer can be located for either optimum tone or gain before feedback...instructions are included.

The system plugs directly into your amp with no preamp required. I HIGHLY recommend a Fender style tube amp with a full range pa style speaker....sounds incredible. Put a mic on the rig for PA use.

Here's some direct to DAW recordings.....

Wow. How nice that you offer the manufacturer an opportunity to share information without 'crashing' a forum. Thanks for this...

And since I'm mostly unfamiliar with positing..here's a bit of our press release announcing the new CL Series PorchBoard Bass. Happy Thumping.......

Performing musicians indicated a need for an economical, weather resistant and stage diverse model of the PorchBoard Bass. We listened.

The PorchBoard Bass is an amplified, analog, low-end rhythm instrument designed to allow player controlled, self-accompaniment using the natural tap of the foot. Legitimately accepted in the concert venue, it's the perfect accompaniment instrument to add instant clean, analog bass rhythm to any style of music without the usual amplification problems of noise, feedback or delay.

Our newest model maintains our traditional PorchBoard sound while giving musicians what they asked for. Crafted from durable decking lumber (recycled composites), our CL Series PorchBoard Bass is lower in price and offers a combination of functional innovation, including simultaneous use of both XLR and ¼-inch phone jack outputs for stage setup diversity. Like other PorchBoard models, the CL Series PorchBoard produces a tone in the 33 - 100 Hz range to offer a strong supportive bass 'thump' in any key - similar to a large marching band bass drum with the nature of the sound resembling a note once another instrument (guitar, banjo, fiddle, bass, harp, keyboard) suggests a pitch.

All PorchBoard models are designed for use with a PA system, powered subwoofer or any amplifier-speaker combination capable of reproducing low frequencies. Using no batteries, active components, or computerized parts, the PorchBoard Bass has adequate output to drive most powered subwoofers without the use of a preamp. Plugged directly into the amplification system (set up much like a bass guitar would be), the bass beat is produced with each tap of the foot.  Using our patented proximity sensor technology, the PorchBoard Bass is not dependent on mechanical devices or integrated circuits. The toe-rail structure adds additional percussiveness.

Easily mastered, the PorchBoard Bass allows students, songwriters and seasoned musicians to add low end self accompaniment with the simple tap of the foot. Our 'return within 60 days for a full refund (minus shipping) no-questions-asked' return policy allows an opportunity to 'touch, feel and play' any PorchBoard Bass risk free.

We're shipping our Martech MSS-01 direct box.

Lee Sklar has already recorded two albums using this for his bass (Barefoot Servants and B. B. King). Al Schmitt has used it on Diana Krall's new Christmas album and a few others. It has been used on an upcoming guitar sample-disc acquisition session, and the renowned engineer (to be named later) chose it from a selection of every (and I do mean every) high-end DI.

Whether you are using it to record guitar or bass for further processing, balancing a guitar output for more stable operation with effects, recording the outputs of amp modelers, effects units, or guitar synths, etc., the MSS-01 will capture the sound with the least coloration, distortion, and noise.

Check it out on our website at http://www.martinsound.com/pd_m01so.htm.

Free Download: Jam Tracks Sample Pack

This software features four backing tracks that are outtakes from Jam Tracks and Jam Tracks Exotica. These tracks will give you an idea of the type and quality of the music on those products. In effort to become a one-stop shop of sorts for high-end guitar cable, I am now making cable from Klotz (20' = $74.95) and Evidence Audio(20' will be $100-125 - waiting on final arrangements)

The aim is to provide a cable for every budget and connector and length options not available from the manufacturer. So I will have Canare and George L on the low price end, Klotz in the middle and Evidence Audio on the high end, all of which is great cable.

I am also carrying some of the Jim Dunplop product line (because I use them)

Finally, I am in the final design process of an affordable pedal board that merges some of the features of several that are out now. I should have the first product run on that in the next 2-4 weeks.

I just took delivery today of a 50 watt head from RC Davis Amplifiers. It's a great, well-built, relatively light unit. The tone's are a bit black-face bassman head, with some overall improvements. You can check them out at www.rcdavisamps.com .

The front panel on all RC Davis amps is, from left to right, input, bass, middle, treble, volume, jewel.

I tried one of my Strats and one of my Les Pauls. I almost like the Strat better through this amp. That's pretty amazing because, right now, I tend to favor my LP through most amps.

The mid-range control is pretty amazing, virtually a gain control. With the mid cranked, the amp is lively at almost any volume. With the volume and the mid cranked, there was complete saturation.

The reverb control knob is on the back of the amp. It comes with a footswitch which also has a reverb control knob on it. Very cool! At low volume, you can crank the reverb for super-surf sounds. The amp reduces the reverb as you crank the volume.

I'm really enjoying the chimey, yet full, complex distortion you get when you turn the amp up. It's relatively clean at low volumes. Or you can crank the volume, and get clean sounds by lowering the volume on your axe.

Check 'em out! RC Davis offers its 30 watt and 50 watt amps as heads, 1x12 combo, and a few other combo options.

I'm a believer!

I'm offering a newly revised summary lesson on picking techniques, their advantages and disadvantages.

It might contain some data you haven't seen before.

This is a free article which towards the end also describes how it came about that I developed a new approach,

combining the advantages of alternate picking with a fast, non-effort way of crossing strings.

For this new approach, an e-book is offered.

I would appreciate your opinion on this lesson and hope to get some feedback.

Thanks, Jes

I have just added the Cardas Golden Chord to my product line. After two years and several thousand cables, this is the most well-engineered cable I have seen. It got a great review by Eric Kirkland as part of his "Cable Summit" for Vintage Guitar, May 2003. It uses special litz stranding techiques for the conductors.

15' $149.95:

Here's the Sommer Spirit: (Made in Germany) Very impressive. Double Spiral Shield, much better than Canare and Mogami IMO.

15' $34.95:

I have also updated my website and added an insert cable page where you can buy both insert and Y stereo cables with four diffrent brands of cable.
