Mr. Nightime
I was just wondering what mode this would be. I use this scale when I'm playing my solo on "The Thrill is Gone" in Am. A-B-C-D-E-F#-G Thanks "In the beginning, Adam had the blues, 'cause he was lonesome. So God helped him and created woman. Now everybody's got the blues." Bridog6996
Dorian mode. It's the G major scale starting on the second degree. My YouTube Channel

stoo schultz
The natural minor (A Aeolian) also works nicely on that tune, because a couple other chords have the F natural (Dmin and the F before the E).
Mr. Nightime
I like to use the ?dorian? mode on that tune. I start my solo quoting Eleanor Rigby(edited to correct a severe brain fart) which has the F#, and go from there. It's very rare that anyone notices the quote. I like the tension of the F# against the Dm and the F-E7(+9). "In the beginning, Adam had the blues, 'cause he was lonesome. So God helped him and created woman. Now everybody's got the blues." Why do I now feel old? No guitarists were harmed during the making of this message. In general, harmonic complexity is inversely proportional to the ratio between chording and non-chording instruments.
