  1. Have the DVD and the Soundtrack and enjoy them both periodically. Favorite SF movie? Hmm. There are so many and even genres within the SciFi genre itself. Hard to hold it up to 2001 A Space Odyssey on one hand and I wouldn't compare it to "Spaceballs" on the other. But, for general SciFi movies that have stood the test of time, Forbidden Planet ranks in the top 5 for certain.
  2. Just more Rumours. -------- Seriously, saw them last year around Thanksgiving time. Much more stage presentation and antics required to bolster the music than in the 70's. Back then the music was enough to carry the concert all the way through. Now I guess we need the lights coming out of the ceiling and the graphics circulating in the background.
  3. Question: Does your friend happen to have a very high I.Q. that you know of? If so, it is quite possible he is "suffering" from the same "dis" orders that many intellectuals have these days. "Why am I wasting my time with these [insert your own derogatory word(s) here] syndrome". While being facetious, it is amazing at how there are so many people being diagnosed with disorders that "excuse" their antisocial behavior these days. It used to be if you sat in the corner and stared at the wall and rocked back and forth, you had autism. Now, just look at someone with a scowl a couple of times or refuse to answer a question and you get classified in the same group. Bottom line: The only way you will know is if he is willing to speak with a psychologist or similar practitioner.
  4. Hmmm. Back in the "High" Life again? Probably not. "Higher" Love? Good possibility. Let Your Love "Come Down"? Nah. Tall? O.K. Big? Not likely. Big Girls Walk Away. :idk Ya got me on this one.
  5. Third Choice: AVALANCHE Cheesecake spread, Skor® bits, and caramel sauce Second Choice: PECAN PIE Maple flavored spread and pecan pieces, with a swirl of chocolate sauce First, and (IMO) best choice:The indescribably delicious Poutail - Signature poutine served on top of a BeaverTails pastry. Poutine? Fries topped with authentic Quebec cheese curds and a decadent gravy. I can hear my arteries screaming as I write this.
  6. Did I mention, this is a completely solo album as are at least two more by this artist. His cover of Stevie Wonder's "Songs In The Key of Life" is good as well.
  7. Thank you. And to think, I was practicing this song just last week. Perhaps that was why it came to mind.
  8. Finding this a few months ago, I was fascinated by the choice of cover and the adaptability of the music to the Fender Rhodes. [video:youtube]
  9. I'm guessing "Peg". Peg It will come back to you Peg It will come back to you Then the shutter falls You see it all in 3-D It's your favorite foreign movie
  10. The Musescore acquistion by Ultimate Guitar has been discussed here before. Briefly, Ultimate Guitar used Guitar Pro, a software program primarily designed for guitar notation for online playing of the extensive library of propriety files created in Guitar Pro that have the GTX, GT5 or GT4 suffix. I suspect, but dont know, that the acquistion of Musescore has enabled Ultimate Guitar to have own their own online player of these files and others created in Musescore. Charging for the Pro version, or an Ultimate Guitar subscription, means they can afford to pay royalities to all the copyright owners of the available songs. This means that ongoing development of the free version of Musescore is assured and the copyright owners get something via the Pro version or online player each time a shared file is used in that environment. Thank you Markay. I couldn't have said it any better. That's why I'm still with them.
  11. To a point I agree with you Joe. However between the features you get with Pro (some of which were previously free) and the cross platform (which, by the way, isn't free), I decided to go with the Pro.
  12. Thank you Jonathan. I have seen what the future holds. I was a member of the OLGA before it was taken over by Ultimate Guitar (and yes, I am still a member at a mere $69 annually).
  13. Wonder no longer...at least from the human standpoint, just Google: Effects of Ultrasonic Noise on the Human BodyA Bibliographic Review by Bogena Smagowska & Magorzata Pawlaczyk-uszczyska The article alone will affect you. I was asleep in less than 5 pages.
  14. MuseScore 3.1 user here. Just to add, like I did in the previous discussion of notation software, MuseScore is now a part of the UltimateGuitar empire and has already shown us the way of the future. "Free"? Yes. But that would not explain why I spent just over $40 last November to to "Pro". For what we saw as the complete feature set of the completely free MuseScore a few years ago is now part of a tiered system. For "all" the features, a subscription is required, for the standard (who determined what "standard" is, I know not) features, you can remain at the "free" level. My point is not to say "Stay away" (as you can see I am still a user and probably will be for a long while), but to point out that sometimes things change, albeit slowly, and we come to our senses after we have been enticed by the four letter eye magnet and realize the reality of life: Nothing is absolutely "free". As for the scores being of varying quality, I have seen some that were a little punk and some that knocked my off the bench, but why am I here? It is notation software, not score download supreme. So, as a program it works very well for me. As a source for other's work, meh.
  15. Thank you Tim. I certainly believe we are. But seriously, periodically the Phoenix area is plagued by "roof rats" and the number one answer given every time is "seal any hole or crack in the outside surface of the house the size of a golf ball or larger. My personal preference is to have a service contract so that I get annual inspection and monitoring and, should something happen, they are out making sure I'm not going to hear the pitta-patter of little feet at night. I was told if I removed my fig tree, there would be less to attract them to my yard. I thought about it for 3 seconds and said, "No, I think I'll take my chances." Fortunately, the activity at my house is not even as much as homes down the street with no fruit trees at all. So, eyes open, plug the holes and (if you can afford it) let the pros lend a hand. In any case, don't use inhumane methods of extermination. I would hate to see my murine friends have an ignoble death (especially my cousin Speedy).
  16. This instrument was discussed somewhere I have been as I found this in my video files. It is a compilation of 25 harpeji players in 5 minutes. A variety of styles and shows the adaptability of the instrument to several genres. A very interesting device. [video:youtube]
  17. Amen. If you make a knock-off of an original just to drop the price, allegedly to "make it easier on the pocketbook", all you end up doing it cheapening the image (and usually value) of the original. Just because a company is impoverished in the area originality does not mean they have to copy everyone else. [Of course, when/if Behringer releases it, my Korg clone will drop even more in value. I should have listened to myself and bought the original when it came out. If I'd only had a few more dollars. Ah, life. ]
  18. And Rick has done two more videos that started on another theme but ended up discussing this topic ad nauseam. It failed before a jury in 2016. Unless the California appeals court is downright stupid or "high" thanks to the new law, it will likely fail again. Rick points out how ridiculous the notion that you can "copyright" a chord progression is. Hopefully the new defense attorney comes up with something better than Chim Chim Cherie this time.
  19. It does seem that cats do have a proclivity for Leslies at least. Good thing it didn't reach its destination. It wouldn't be as funny as the video of the cat and the ceiling fan. [video:youtube]https://www.youtube.com watch?v=i9baOuxCKEc
  20. I must have missed something along the line here. How is it that Behringer can market this synth using the name Odyssey and making it look like the original ARP (even with add-ons) and not be in violation of some type of copyright law? I know that Korg partnered with David Friend, but I can't imagine he would do that again, especially with a competing manufacturer. Yes, it has additional features that would be nice to have, but as my grandfather would say, "Just something else to go wrong with it." I'll stick with my Korg FS Mk 1 for the time being.
  21. Bought this in 1984. Advantage: I can play 78s and can change the tonearm/cartridge by simply unscrewing it. (Image is not mine, but identical, although I use a cork mat and stabilizer.)
  22. A Fender American Professional Fretless Jazz Bass guitar. Not a keyboard, but it kicks butt. Still tickling the ivories, though.
  23. Decided to sign up for Herbie's MasterClass and, while I was at it, check out my instructor, since he will be in town next month. August 17th in Mesa, AZ (about 15 miles from my home). I look forward to both the show and the class.
  24. Trying to decide between Herbie and Hans. If the price is right, maybe both.
  25. Welcome B3Squeeze. Take your shoes off and set a spell. We can always use another viewpoint on the topics du jour. Wish I was up your way with the summer coming on.
