Phil, thank you for the JPJ link. Thank you very much. That made my night.

Mine is a little bit OT. More entertaining than anything. This is my personal YouTube Clip Of The Week.

My whole trick is to keep the tune well out in front. If I play Tchaikovsky, I play his melodies and skip his spiritual struggle. ~Liberace

And for your listening pleasure, some Mother's Finest...Wyzard was one of my early influences:

Long bass solo...actually gets a little boring to me now...go figure...

Concert in Germany...check about 3:45, there's a live version of "Like A Negro" (killer tune) plus some ad-lib live messing around...the sound quality is pretty poor unfortunately...I've seen them live and they sound MUCH more polished than this video clip would suggest.

And here's the MF song most folks are likely to already know...Baby Love:

If you ever get an opportunity to see these folks live, do it...they friggin' rock...

Enjoy,

Dave

I love that band and Wyzard is a cracking bassplayer - a better ensemble player than soloist though. I think it's one of those solos that would have been insanely exciting if you were there but on tape and with youtube sound quality it perhaps doesn't quite build as much intensity - great use of effects though!

Pity about the quality of those clips, they are one great band.

Dave, did you ever catch The Family Stand during their rock phase - you would have loved them.

(looks like a mate of mine on drums)

They got a lot rockier than this, great live, but I can't find a clip. This is a good song though!

Nice guitar solo.

Not the greatest picture quality but great to hear her play her Les Paul Gibson Bass unaccompanied in the TV studio:

Not sure how many know this but if you run Firefox with Greasemonkey, you can download a script which lets you download Youtube and other online videos as .flv files. You can then install a free .flv player. Useful if something is likely to be taken down or for people like me that might use Youtube clips at work where youtube.com is blocked.

Apologies to Dave Sisk for burying his fine post with all my posts, make sure you check Dave's post out above!
