saxofunk
What brought me to the LowDown and keeps me here is the collective knowledge of a bunch of hacks moderated by a few educated and experienced contributors. So I like the place, and I intend to hang around. The pros make me want to quit my day job and join a band, the newbies remind me that I'm not all that far removed from newbiedom myself. Getz - your post was timely, and since you were kind enough to mention me (and, I make you laugh), I'll quit thinking of masochistic things to do with this rusty A string. - Matt W. davebrownbass
I find many of you informative and inspirational. I often use your stories in my own teaching and daily life. Did is see a nod to Lee Flier? If all she had to offer was the avatar of Keith, I'd be impressed, but she often offers words of great value. If significance could be measured by "which person, if missing, would make my life less enriched" I'd have to say that many of you fill that significance. Remember John Donne: `No man is an island` "No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of they friends`s or of thine own were. Any man`s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee." One of the most significant poems ever penned, that. Of course it is also summed up in the ending of "Wayne's World": "Love ya man." "I love you." "No, I really love you." "Just say 'thanks'" "Let's raise the level of this conversation" -- Jeremy Cohen, in the Picasso Thread. Still spendin' that political capital far faster than I can earn it...stretched way out on a limb here and looking for a better interest rate.
