How could you miss Tom C, Dave Brown, Ed, Wally, Bob and all those other mod types who delete all the porn spam that gets posted here????

Yeah, I agree with your post, but if it wasn't for the rest of us, they wouldn't have anyone to give advice to.

Adam, agreed. It's a community effort. I'm not sure if post-count or tenure should validate one's "status" here. Everyone save the moderators can post new threads or replies.

Now, there are a group of regulars... then again, there are regulars at the corner bar... I guess they're significant, too. :)

Man, you missed so many people!

What was the purpose of this post anyway?

If C. Alexander were dead, he'd be rolling in his grave RIGHT NOW!! Thank God he isn't.

I think everyone on this forum can say that they have been helped by someone in some odd way, shape or form.

Even little old...60 something post me. I'd like to think that my small here and there comments have helped someone or that my here and there questions have helped those untyped questions in bass players heads live vicariously through mine.

a thread like this is one of those ones that can lead to hurt feelings and egos of the omitted. Maybe a personal message to these people or something would've gotten the job done.

I thought we were answering the question "will the lowdown ever run out of self referencing topics?"

DCR,

i) what movie are you refering to?

ii) what does your sig mean?

I don't care what y'all say, I'm on the list!!!! Bahahaha! Thanks for adding me to the list :thu:

Personally, I view at Jeremy C, DBB, and Tom C (and one other guy with a last name that starts with G) as the "high wisemen" of the forums.

As JC said, I just spend too much time surfin' the net.

It is a song sung by the fictional band The Folksmen (same musicians as Spinal Tap) in the movie A Mighty Wind.

But what do I know..

Well first off I confused you and dcr. But I figured you were just saying where the quote about "significance" was from, but are you saying that also "EA A OE'S" is from "A Mighty Wind"?

I agree that the definition of "significant" means that no one should feel left out or insulted. Different people connect in different ways, and that's true on this board as well as in other aspects of life.

Talk about significant - greenboy has been mentioned and he hasn't been around for a while. Talk about making an impression...

The moderators always acknowledge that everyone makes a contribution. Will-bass - lots of people ask questions - the new as well as the experienced. And lots of people donate their stories!! For example, Connie wouldn't consider herself an expert, and asks lots of questions. Yet her enthusiasm and drive has been teaching us all.

Dude, I don't think you offended anybody, but you took many people by surprise (perhaps even dismayed some). These forums are organic "living documents" which capture the collective knowledge, experience, and wisdom of all participants, not just those of a "select" few.

Please, let's not turn it into a "club". :)

ohhhhh, so that's why i never see any of that stuff. :D

i think this is an interesting thread.

jeremyc-you do spend a long time on the internet, i wonder what your family thinks of you....

;):D

i think that although i try to post here a lot, scince i don't know how to read music or chords, or anything that requires lessons, i can't post on many "what chord progression should i use" threads. im just the self taught kid i guess...oh well :D .

note: whenever i press the spell check button, my internet closes, so from now on, no one can flame me for that.

I wasn't offended, don't sweat it.

The list you posted were the members here that are significant to you. That's fair enough. Those are probably the people who if you see a new topic by them you say "ooh, let me check that out."

My list would be different for the go-to crew I have made contact with here.

Certain folks on the forum are very reliable (I know this has been done before);

- Tom C. will always post a very bad pun in response to pretty much anything

- SteveC will buy something and then sell it and potentially buy it back

- PJR will buy something, then buy something else, then buy something else...

- Sweet Willie will take a cheap shot at me or DCR

- DCR will post some obscure reference that about 5% of readers will understand and laugh so hard we fall over

- Zeronyne will ALWAYS find the coolest stuff on the internet

- Phil will build something

- Bumpcity will efficiently tell everyone how to remove their cranium from their rectum in 10 words or less

- C. Alex is the only person with more pedals than me and that makes me happy

- MattW will make me laugh on a constant basis

- ClarkW will clarify the cloudy

- JeremyC will help ANYONE

- Musicman will buy the coolest fretless and make everyone jealous

- Wraub and Ace will post a poll about bass features and go back to the secret Seismic lab

- Getz will yell a people with 8x10" cabinets with 1,600-watt amplifiers that can't hear themselves

- 57pbass will pull a Sadowsky or 12 out from behind a couch that he forgot about

- benloy gigs and plays and does all the things we're supposed to be doing instead of posting

- Scoot gives us the skinny on some gear and keeps me entertained with Big Labowski quotes.

- tnb teaches us all a lesson on being humble. "Who me, I'm a hack! Oh, I have to catch that plane for the upright gig this weekend..."

- JBFLA quietly runs the show down in Florida

- bc keeps us honest and plays in bands with extremely attractive females and makes me jealous

- bassaddik will make us jealous with the fish he handles

- hags2k keeps us up to speed on crazy ideas about gear and how to ship a 2x15" cabinet

- pickpunk keeps me inspired and enthused about the instrument

- bass_god_offspring reminds us that we need cables of the appropriate length. ;)

- Nicklab will search for a guitarist and a vocalist and swear-off singer/songwriters

- basshappi is ALWAYS happy and positive. I could use a lesson...

- coyote will yell at me for yelling at people with 8x10" cabinets. ;)

- fredthebassplayer is much like basshappi, and he rocks the house funk-o-licious like

- greenboy disappears and makes me sad

- CMDN will curse so much a truckdriver would blush. But he'll do it wearing black, so it's louder.

- ConnieZ is a surviver and helps us understand that it takes work to keep a band together more than a month

- pernax will rock the crap out of you, prog-metal pony trekking style. And he'll do it in PERFECT written English

- robb and tom rivet confuse the crap out of me at first but then make me understand. Good tag-team

- DONUT likes green.

- tedster posts, a lot.

- da_lady_in_da_pink_dress, bigkahuna, jimbojones, and the other young ones keep us VERY jealous of times past

Sorry if I missed some of the newer cats, like Mike Bear and mattulator and jimbronii and gospel5 etc etc etc.

Who did I miss? Someone give me a hand...
