Phait
And I don't mean the Linux distro. I've been thinkin' of sportin' one, I found my grampa's old one. It's a brand called Champ, and the hat model is Triumph. I tried it on... it's ok but I hate my head as it is - it's too slim/big. Maybe I need a smaller fedora. Unfortunately I can't find any information on the brand or it's value. I did see a few on eBay going for around $10 bids, but that doesn't tell me much other than perhaps the hat doesn't have much value. It does have some tears in the liner and band, but otherwise it seems fine.

Mark Zeger
Check out Dave Brown The Hatter , Phait. He's located just up the street from my office. He makes serious hats. I like the idea of a nice hat as a fashion statement but I never wear one. I get "hat hair" that looks stupid when I take one off.
cherri
I occasionally put on my husband's fedora (and not much else), but that's when we're home alone. I have a fetching red fedora of my own, but ever since the old ladies started wearing red hats, I refuse to wear it any more. Paul wears a fedora at our shows most of the time. Now and then he'll wear a baseball cap, but he always has some type of brim on. He has black, brown, and white fedoras, and IMHO he looks positively smashing in them. You should buy one. www.metalblues.com

Jeff Klopmeyer
I think a fedora would be cool. I've never owned one, and haven't been a "hat guy" for a long while. But if I were to go that direction, I think a cool fedora would be rather complementary toward my pointy head. - Jeff Marketing Communications for MI/Pro Audio My solo music and stuff They Stole My Crayon
Bbach1
I wear a Panama Jack I bought in the Carribbean. I like it. Perfect fit. Comfortable hat. Other than that, I wear baseball style caps, but I only order the double brim higher priced ones. The $5 caps always show the sweat when you golf on a hot day. The good ones have a double brim and the sweat doesn't soak through. Mainly, I order mine from the St. Louis Rams website, since I'm a long time fan. I don't much care if I have hat head. I'm not out to impress anyone, and I'm doing a good job of it. bbach Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.

Billster
I wear something like this in the winter: http://www.dropkickmurphys.com/merch/images/thumbnails/drp218.jpg Mine does not have a Dropkick Murphys logo on it Anyway, a scally or a fedora looks much better than a baseball hat with a wide variety of clothes. theblue1
I've always been partial to fedoras, both felt and straw and other weaves, and I've usually had at least one or two since I was a young hippy kid. My current is a nice little grey number with a medium width brim and a plain black leather hatband. Most of the time it sits on the headstock of my 12 string... Sylver
Yeah, I'm a hat guy. My current #1 is a black felt aussie style cowboy with fedora-ish size brim. It's got a leather cinch that mostly hangs down, but that I can snug up tight in the wind. I have a few "western gambler" style hats too and a big rancher style too. Those don't get as much use because they are stiff pressed and unforgiving when you sit on them. Besides, I find that if you wear a gambler style black hat and play guitar, people start trying to make comparisons to a certain late guitar legend. THAT hat is a little too big for me to fill. I really don't know what to put here.

Super 8
Fedoras are cool! I used to wear one back when my hair was real long. The chicks dug it. (the secret is to tell them you only take your hat off for ONE thing... ) Sometimes I felt a little pretentious in my fedora, so I started wearing this Greek fisherman's hat I found at the Salvation army. Looks like this: http://greatergoodsonline.com/shop/images/PKAegeanprofile.JPG I never knew what it was called. It had a Greek newspaper folded up in the brim, so I called it my 'Greek hat'. It was distictive, yet understated. It didn't annouce to everyone in the room that *I* had arrived. I should get me another one of those. That was a nice hat. I've always wondered if hats would ever make a comeback? You see old timey movies, where all of the guys wear great looking suits with fedoras. Very sharp. People had style back then. I don't care if I never see another baseball cap. I say go for it, Phait. I think it'd be cool. Super 8 Hear my stuff here
theblue1
"...(the secret is to tell them you only take your hat off for ONE thing... [Wink] )" Serious drama? [Not quite 20 some years ago, I knew a gaggle of punker girls who were, for some reason I couldn't quite fathom, gaga over neo-trad country singer George Strait -- who was, of course, never seen without his trademark cowboy hat. That is, until he did an acting stint on the legit stage sans Stetson -- revealing a forehead as boundless as the western sky... But because these were punker girls, they were, like, "Yeah, I knew he was bald. So what? It's his integrity I love him for." Sumbitch won coming and going. ] bookmark these: news.google.com | m-w dictionary | wikipedia encyclopedia | Columbia Encyclopedia TK Major / one blue nine | myspace.com/onebluenine

EoS
I've been a fedora guy since I was in high school ( a LONG time ago). Still wear em - still love em. My advice - don't waste money on a cheap hat. They SUCK. A drop of rain and they'll lose their shape. Make sure it's a top quality fur-felt hat. If it's at all limp or very flexible, pass. It should be lined. I've owned hats that have lasted 15 years with NO regard to weather - worn them in hurricanes and rain forests and still look and feel as sharp as when I got em. Moths are the only enemy. My current hat is one of these: Stetson Downs in graphite. I've had it for 5-6 years now, and it still looks brand new. Blue Strat
I want a Chairman Mao hat. I'm partial to wearing one of those long knit french trapper's caps when it's cold. It's about 24" from top to bottom, and flops over to one side. A big toboggan with a tassel. Mine's hunter green with a Hudson's Bay Company pin and a Russian imperial seal on the front that I got in Washington and California at a couple of historic fur-trading forts. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/bluestrat28056/fur_trappers_cap.jpg The Hudson's Bay Co. crest is the red circle with the white flag, the Russian imperial seal is the double-headed eagle. whitefang
I'll go along and call it a "fedora", even though I was under the impression that Fedora WAS a brand! But I know you mean one of them '30's and 40's type hats you see in those old Bogie flicks. Love 'em. Had a few cheap ones over the years that really didn't look as good. Would like to get a well made cover. Right now, usually over the winter months, I wear one of those six-sectioned caps like Tom Joad wore. I put it one at a "rakish" angle, much like the brothers did in the '70's. Had THAT cap so long, I can't remember where I got it. It's become my trademark. I once walked into a relative's house without it, and the first thing I heard was, "Where's your HAT?" Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left! Basshappi
Yes, I am a hat wearer. I don't wear them as much as I did when I worked outside for a living. But I have several different ones in this style: http://www.davebrownhats.com/images/hats/diamond_top.jpg (one of the reasons I picked my avatar) I have not been able to find a satisfactory straw version and in Tucon it gets too damn hot to wear my felts in the summer. My advice is to go to a quality hat shop and try out a wide variety of styles til you find one that you really feel is "You". Cheers Nothing is as it seems but everything is exactly what it is - B. Fendercaster
Never been much of a hat wearer. When it's cold out, I'll wear a watch cap, if I'm golfing or fishing, a baseball cap. That's about it.
