NewImprov
There's a summer concert series that my funk/hip-hop/afrobeat band has been playing every year for the last while, it's on a Thursday night, always draws a couple thousand people, always a fun gig. The next town over also has a summer concert series on Thursday nights, it's usually tribute bands or country, but at least once a year, they host some great touring band. This year, Tower of Power is the highlight of their season, and the only show I'd go to. And, wouldn't you know, it's the same night we're playing. We're pretty funky, but no way can we compete with that! 1 3 Quote Turn up the speaker Hop, flop, squawk It's a keeper -Captain Beefheart, Ice Cream for Crow
ProfD
That's just funkin' unfair. I guess it's too late to swap Thursday nights with another band.😁😎 2 Quote PD "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return."--E. 16251
Title sounded like you were opening for ToP. That would be fun. 2 Quote AvantGrand N2 | ES520 | Gallien-Krueger MK & MP | https://soundcloud.com/pete36251
Joe Muscara
I would have been bummed that I couldn't go see them instead of my own band. Quote "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! As I understand, it’s only Doc and Emilio from the original band anymore. Still, I’d totally be there if we weren’t playing, as would most of my band mates. Bill H.
That's bound to affect attendance. Any chance of talking to your event organizers and getting your date moved?

At this point, probably not, we’ve been doing a bunch of promo work already. We”ll play the show and do out best, we always have fun playing no matter what. 2 Quote Turn up the speaker Hop, flop, squawk It's a keeper -Captain Beefheart, Ice Cream for Crow
mrk7421
Yes.....I am going to be able to go hear Tower of Power that night. Quite a few years ago they played at that same location.....There is a bandstand right in front of the river in Albany Oregon.Tower of Power on a summer night.....sounds just about ideal doesn't it? The band members usually hang out and talk to people at this event..... in years past Rocco would always be available to chat with as well as Roger Smith Jerry Cortez etc.etc. These guys are into year 56 at this point.....will they make it to 60?
Reezekeys
AWB used to open many shows for them when we had the same booking agent. That hasn’t happened in a while. Have to hand it to them for hanging in this long - they’re always busy! Real road dogs.

Yeah, it's the River Rhythms series in Albany, and I was there the last time they played, which was the only time I saw ToP with both Rocco and Dave Garibaldi. Fantastic show! Have seen many great acts there over the years, Little Feat, King Sunny Ade, etc. Quote Turn up the speaker Hop, flop, squawk It's a keeper -Captain Beefheart, Ice Cream for Crow
