Cygnus64
Cygnus64 - are you on a laptop or a desktop? Desktop. I'm in the market for a cheap laptop to do some simple portable recording. The problem is that my interface is firewire and they don't seem to make any cheap laptops with firewire. Does anyone know of any?

Not sure if a laptop without FW would have an Expresscard slot, but if you can find one that does, there's your FW answer. A ROMpler is just a polyphonic turntable. According to my latest Costco flyer this goes on sale for $699 this weekend until the end of March: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11526844&whse=BC&Ne=5000001+4000000&eCat=BC|84|56670&N=4017745%204294967277&Mo=9&No=4&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&topnav=#reviews Don't know if that's cheap enough or not. I bought a very similar HP last month without IEEE 1394 and the dedicated graphics chip. It was $100 less but I kinda wish I'd waited for this one now. I shall see if that's within my price range or not, it's right on the cusp.
Bill H.
I love mine. But I wish I'd waited just one more month. These new Intel "i" core processors are really sweet.
Bobadohshe
Like I said..... New Macpros Next Tuesday??? There's a link to a Macrumors posting. It may not be true, but it is about time for the update to hit. When it does I'm there cash in hand. zephonic
I just installed Apple's new security update and it has worked wonders for my iMac's performance. I can now easily run multiple instances of PLAY, so I guess it's fair to say that the problem was not with EastWest! Perhaps it was one of those rare Mac-viruses that reduced my performance? gear list.pdf
Bobadohshe
FYI, The new Macbook Pros look like they're finally around the corner. No word on the Macpros though for crying out freaking loud. SK
Good news, Zeph. BTW, I got an email from EW announcing their new PLAY 2 system will be available free for registered users this month. It'll be interesting to see what the upgrades are. CD: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/stevekessler
