marino
Right. He/she is not playing - it's done to a recording.
Sven Golly
It's not a burkha, it's a condom. It must be, because underneath it there seems be a big spamming "pianist"...
Starfriend
No, it's definitely not a recording. It's so locked with the audio and it seems like i'm hearing the same notes that he/she is playing. Who do u think it is?
SilverDragonSoun
I think its a recording. Begin the day with a friendly voice A companion, unobtrusive - Rush

Starfriend
Simple: Several times, he has his hands on the wrong register of the piano. No- that is not the case. The register his hands are in is the register we are hearing.
SK
If he is playing and that's all he plays, some arpeggios and pentatonic stuff, I can see why he prefers anonymity. (Dug the one high Ab (minor major 7) at the end.) CD: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/stevekessler
marino
I've watched it again, and I confirm my impression. Especially at the beginning, the hands are placed too low on the keyboard for the notes that are heard. Not that it would be so important, btw... Bobadohshe
It sounds like watered down watered down Jordan Rudess. He does those lightning arpeggios but with a little more direction and purpose. burningbusch
I watched it a couple of times. I think it could very well be live playing. On these Youtube compression videos it's very common for the timing to be off slightly between audo and video. I think that is the reason things aren't synced perfectly. Or he just recorded some improv/loose composition and mimicked it while playing with the bedsheet. Like Carlo said, it really doesn't matter that much. Busch. SK
His fingers played the notes heard, when you could actually see them, so I think he played it too. Wasn't like it was hard. There could be a market for those burlap sack covers (for the shy pianist.) CD: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/stevekessler

calmar
It IS Jordan Rudess playing there... I can easily recognize his playing... and yeah he's really playing live, just look at the notes he play. Dave
kad
The unknown pianist appears shortly after Dave Horne goes missing. Hmmmm... Reality is like the sun - you can block it out for a time but it ain't goin' away...
Bipabew
I definitely think it's Jordan Rudess. In the video there is a Steinway Model D, About a year ago when Jordan got that piano he made a little video of himself playing Silent Night off of his Christmas Sky CD. If you've seen that video the room should be a giveaway. Also the wrist angle is pretty low as you can see his right hand through the sheet sometimes. I agree - there's very few people who could play that well (even with a sheet over their hands!) Starfriend
I'm fascinated by this character. Seems he has made another appearance. I only know Rudess through his work with Dream Theater which is much different then this!
Bobadohshe
I agree - there's very few people who could play that well (even with a sheet over their hands!) Are you serious? Any college level piano performance major should be able to hang with that level of 'arpeggio madness'. Starfriend
That could be the new college training method. Blinded by a sheet and not only that but having to play with the sheet over your hands! Try it at home. It might be easy?
