  1. Steve Porcaro of Toto has often spoken about his first organ which was also a Rheem. He later traded it in for a Farfisa and 122.
  2. In terms of running the sound to multiple leslie sims in mainstage (or a daw for that matter) I would have the leslie sims each in a different bus and then use them as effects sends and then set the fader of the organ to -♾. After that, adjusting the volume of the leslies comparable to each other is just changing the bus levels.
  3. If they put the YC's organ engine in the montage too, well now I'm interested... not that I can afford it
  4. In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins definitely has this feeling, especially live versions of the song.
  5. Sounds like a french horn type sound, could be from either the Fairlight or an Emulator I, at least that is my best guess. I don't have much knowledge about the Mellotron's different tape sounds, but it is possible that it could be a Mellotron french horn sound, though unlikely.
  6. One thing all the other options have that the VR doesn't have is the ability to have 2 pianos and 2 synth sounds all layered at the same time, like if you wanted to layer an AP, EP, pad, and string all at the same time- the JV, XV, XR, and Integra all do that no problem, but the VRs can't.
  7. A Dexibell SX8 could also be a viable option if you want something with more synth sounds and the ability to load user samples, and also has 4 parts of multitimbrality rather than 2 in the Gemini.
  8. As far as copyright/trademark of the name goes, Ableton can't do anything, because 'live' is a word that can't be trademarked and Steinberg owns the trademark for 'VST'. If they like it, well that isn't Steinberg's problem.
  9. If you want something with a little more routing capabilities, look at a digital mixer. Something like a Zoom L-8 would give you more than enough inputs but would also give you aux sends (in the case of the L-8, three unbalanced headphone outputs, meaning that you would have to use a DI for each of those. All you would do is only put the faders up on the channels you want going to the main out, on the others, just set the gain and the send level to the aux output.
  10. I've never played one of the Novation Launchkeys, the main issues with it are it isn't weighted (not sure if that is important for you) and it has no expression pedal input, which considering that you use VB3 a lot is probably a deal breaker.
  11. Thanks Tom, I'd have a similar use case (PC4 88 with a Novation Impulse 61)
  12. Question for PC4 owners, does the USB-A port on the back support both powering and interfacing with an external keyboard controller like the the USB ports on the Korg Kronos? Looking at buying a PC4 and was curious if it had this feature.
  13. I believe the Montage has slightly better D/A converters than the MODX, but the difference is only really apparent when you have two boards next to each other. I believe the Montage also has a hotter output than the MODX, but I could be wrong.
  14. The other major issue is the fact that Tesla refuses to use CCS/J-1772 plugs on their cars, meaning that all around the USA and Canada there are two nearly isolated charging networks that have very little overlap in terms of what cars they supply. On top of that, owners of cars also know very little about charging speed, sometimes you show up to a charger and the only 350kW charger is being used by a car that can't charge at that speed.
  15. You mean a keyboard and a stand doesn't fit in there?
  16. $1300 could buy you a used FA-08 or MOXF8 and make it a whole rig, seems like a much better value proposition than some preset keys.
  17. Despite the fact that it has DSP, which can effectively act like there is unlimited gain, be wary of pushing the speaker to hard. Many people crank the volume up way to loud on these Yamahas, putting them into protected mode, leading to them overloading the speaker and then they don't last nearly as long as they should.
  18. So it can be used as a multi-zone master controller?
  19. I've always been a vertically close together guy mainly because I don't have a very tall torso, so if the upper board is too high it ends up blocking my face, which some may see as a good thing, but it also means I can't see the audience or the other musicians in the band either. Recently, I've been playing either single board or L-shaped rigs, the latter of which I like because I get to look around a bit more and it forces me to work on my hand independence and strength.
  20. Like the musical road in california? 😂
  21. Ok thanks, I'll run it by my friend and see what he thinks, he wants to keep his rig to one board, so it seems like he might have to get something else. It's a shame, since he enjoys playing the DS and likes most of its internal sounds, he just wants some better B3s for the songs that require them.
  22. Asking this question for a friend of mine who has a Juno DS76 and wants to use an iPad running VB3m with it to have some better organ sounds, he's happy with the rest of the sounds he's getting out of the board. Does the DS76 have any way to set up zones in a studio set to control external devices? I've read through the manual and it is not clear as to what exactly the parameters each zone has, as per usual with Roland's manuals.
  23. I'd say your best bet is to buy the RT-20, if you aren't satisfied with the overdrive you can use the overdrive in the CX3 or put another overdrive pedal between
