  1. Amazon.ca has them in stock...going to order one.
  2. 'Everybody Digs...' is one of my all time favs. The interesting thing about analyzing Evans is that he"s that bridge between the older bebop where guys were soloing thinking in terms of chords, and the 'new' (i.e. 50"s-60"s) modal way of thinking. This analysis here on this particular passage makes me think the mind was still thinking in terms of chords. I always had trouble in jazz school analyzing bop tunes (i.e. Parker, Rollins) in terms of chord-scale theory...obviously on a deliberately modal tune (So What, etc.) then I dug, but on an older bebop tune, I still preferred to think that these guys were just thinking about chords and establishing tonality with their lines, not 'chord-scales.' Just my opinion, YMMV. The beauty of theory is that there is no 'wrong' way to look at a piece of music..
  3. Thanks Eric for sharing this amazing video...and a very interesting discussion. I just tried playing 'amazing grace' in all 12 keys. It"s interesting, obviously in some keys you can let loose, start throwing in subs, licks, etc, and in other keys, just laying it down with some soul and sticking to the melody is a challenge. I now have an 'amazing grace etude' to throw into my practice routine! Mind blowing performances in this clip, and truly inspiring hearing/seeing these incredible players just eat up the tough keys for breakfast!
  4. Thanks. ð I am having dreams of my practice studio...I miss my yamaha A1, and my rhodes Mark V. That is great news that you have your acoustic...stay safe everyone, this too shall pass.
  5. For sure...that"s what I"m going to do...I have time so the idea of tweaking the audio track is just a good excuse to learn more about logic. I"ve only scratched the surface of what I can do with it. Thanks for listening!
  6. ok, I just posted the recording I did last night using the focusrite AI. If you go back in that thread, I posted a video of me doing 'The End' (Doors) using just the internal mic on my computer...big difference in audio quality IMO.
  7. Free improvisation recorded with piano #2 from a yamaha P200. Recorded using a focusrite Scarlett 2i2. Audio normalized with logic pro x. [video:youtube]https://youtu.be/Oxs3NtpfMH8
  8. The audio quality on the internal mic is not great....if you go to the 'post your music' section, I have a video up of me recorded through the internal mics...I am going to post one in a few seconds of me using the audio interface (still stock yamaha DP sound) but the quality is much higher. One sec...
  9. Like many of us during this crazy time, I"ve been posting daily videos to my IG. I sort of had to bail from my condo in the city in a very quick time...I grabbed what I could and have been holed up in a house in the country. For for the last two weeks my videos have been the stock piano in an old yamaha DP into the internal mic on my ten year old macbook pro..(yikes!) I finally managed to get my hands on an audio interface, (focusrite), which means I can start using the steinway in Logic X. My new plan for videos is as follows: 1. Record video of myself using photobooth (mac) 2. Simultaneously record audio of steinway in logic 3. import video 4. normalize audio 5. bounce movie file from logic. If anyone can think of a better way to get a video with this setup, let me know! i.e. having to hit record 'twice' is a bit of a drag...i.e. once in photobooth and once in logic. OT: thanks for letting me part of this incredible community! I really enjoyed getting to be part of a recording again. i.e. Quarrantunes. Special shout out to brother Dave Bryce for putting that together.
  10. just another endorsement for Logic Pro X...it can be as simple or as deep as you wish...I quickly outgrew garage band (i.e. no 96K sample rate, inability to export midi files)
  11. Nice! Always wanted one of those, but I didn"t really have a valid need for one, having several acoustics already and plenty of keyboards. In Blue Rodeo we have a rock drummer, pedal steel, sometimes 3 guitars, and a bass through an SVT. Even with all of the amps in isolation cabinets, our FOH engineer and I had trouble getting my acoustic accordion to sit right. Didin"t matter how nice the mics were, acoustic instruments can only be pushed so far over a dense noise floor...Then someone hipped me to the roland, and just like that all of my problems went away. FOH engineer can just ride the fader up/down like he would any line level keys. Godsend. It"s also nice to be able to dial up hundreds of different reed sets, concertinas, they even have a corodovox set!
  12. Thanks man! What a cool place to hang when you"re trapped inside... Not sure about beautiful Victoria, but we woke up to snow. Merry Christmas! haha
