  1. I’m really happy with my FA 07 for most of the reasons people seem to like the XP 30 and similar synths. Good synth action (specifically on the 76 version), quick interface for selecting and editing sounds, good variety of high quality sounds, complements other keyboards nice and fits easily on top of just about any rig. Sure the external power supply and plastic build isn’t ideal, but it’s held up fine after lots of gigs.
  2. THIS, a million times this!!! Not enough weighted 73s on the market. I recently got the NS4 73HA, because I couldn’t find any currently supported alternatives with a nice action. Only way I could afford it was with 4 year financing and a bunch of negotiating with GC reps. A lightweight 73 with nice weighted keys in the $1000ish price range and a nice variety of sounds would be a big seller among gigging keyboardists right now I’d think.
  3. Is there a link to the streams from earlier today? Heard a couple days ago that Ed was back. Glad Roland fixed that mistake, hopefully they gave him a promotion or at least a raise. The man deserves it! He's been a huge part of convincing me to get a Roland workstation hopefully later this year.
  4. Looks like they discontinued the Lead 4 with the introduction of the new Wave 2. Maybe we'll see the Lead 4 on clearance? Can't afford the new Wave, but it definitely looks cool. Good set of features and glad they're using a waterfall keybed. Not a big fan of diving board keys.
  5. Too bad they aren't being sold anymore :-(
  6. Looking forward to more YouTube videos from you Ed. Hoping to get the FA soon. Would love to see some videos on how to use it with my MODX.
  7. The Korg will get more mainstream attention, but for those of us in the know I think the new Viscount will overshadow this release.
  8. Have they announced prices yet? How about weight? One of my main gripes with the last one was the weight, I'm guessing this is no better.
  9. What synth is he using for the beginning is it Moog or ARP? Would love to get that sound right with my jam group.
  10. I've always enjoyed Ed's videos and they've been a big part of convincing me to buy the FA. Ed's a nice guy and solid player. I don't think we've seen the last of him.
  11. The new Korg synth is called the Wavestate. Description from Kraft Music "The Korg Wavestate represents the next step in Wave Sequencing synthesis, originally introduced by the legendary Wavestation. Using Wave Sequencing 2.0 and gigabytes of raw samples, Wavestate delivers astonishing, ever-changing sounds with extensive hands-on control. Wavestate's extensive modulation capability includes Vector control of its four layers, while onboard effects and modeled filters, including MS-20 and Polysix, add additional sound-shaping character. The compact form-factor, with 37 full-size keys, transports easily and fits neatly into any setup." Here is a sound demo
  12. I've always found Ed far more entertaining and interesting than Tibbs.
  13. Now Behringer has the Poly D. That looks pretty cool!
  14. This is a cool setup! Always thought about using a Mini as a sound module. Glad to see it working for ya
  15. I've found the output of the built in audio interface to be very quiet. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong?
  16. How is the action compared to MODX?
  17. Hi. I'd like to get a second board with 76 keys to use primarily for synth sounds, as well as brass and orchestral sounds. I've already got an 88 key Yamaha that covers pianos, epiano, clav, and some acoustic and synth sounds. Looking for better leads, pads, etc. It seems like the FA has a built in VA. How is this? Does it justify the price difference? I've also heard some people saying the Juno sounds fatter/thicker and warmer. Anyone else think the lower cost Juno sounds better, if so why? From what I've heard the 76 key keybed on the FA is a big improvement over the 61 key synth actions Roland has been using lately. Is this true for the Juno as well? From an outsiders point of view the FA interface appears easier to navigate. Most importantly though (besides maybe key feel) is the difference in sound quality. Does one synth sound much better than the other?
  18. Crumar Mojo dual manual clonewheel organ Got a nice deal on it used.
  19. This thread has provided interesting perspective! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. For a younger player like myself, it's very helpful to hear about what you all have been through. I notice bassists tend to complain about the volume of the keys, especially when you start playing notes lower than A4. I also notice organ sounds especially with a lot of fast Leslie tend to sound much louder than they actually are. Maybe its just the way the sound fills the room?
  20. I feel like this is something I could work on more. Finding space within the sound and weaving. Anybody have any tips or advice for a young player? I can definitely be a bit "showy" at times, maybe too much.
  21. The MODX has some serious competition now. Even with the new update coming, this Kurzweil might be a better deal if the action is good. If I didn't get the MODX before this was announced, I'd definitely be considering it. No Kurz dealers nearby to my knowledge. Would love to try one though.
