  1. I can get down to 144 samples using Window Audio - still nothing like my MBP, but for Windows machines, I'd say times have changed. I mean WDM for live playing? Forget it; it used to be 1024 samples... I read some months ago that Microsoft has significantly reduced audio latency. At 144, I don't really feel latency even when I play fast passages. With Window Audio, I don't have to run a 3rd party app like O Deus. I was a registered user. In fact, I spoke to the person who "cracked" it (I think with the permission by the deceased author's nephew) to see if he could do the same with MIDIThru by the same developer.
  2. Indeed. Recently I purchased a cheap Win 11 portable pc. I didn't know that Window Audio driver worked that good. Also, it's multi-client allowing me to play VST plug-ins while playing media files or Youtube whereas Asio4all is single-client.
  3. As with just about all 2.1 systems, the Ergo has bi-amps built into the sub for stereo. We've seen key players tyring to use a bass amp. Here for change, a bass player playing through what he calls a "hifi" system - the Mark Audio Ergo
  4. The wireless connection feature of the TX408s is interesting. Do you think it's just for Bluetooth connection, or you can plug everything into one speaker and it connects to the other speaker wireless?
  5. In a recent thread on a Fender bass amp for key players, someone mentioned that for $15 more, a person can get a pair of the Alto TX308 for possibly better results and versatility. I thought that was a good idea. Some years ago I owned and had a fling with a Markbass CMD102 - 2x10 combo bass amp for my keys. Though the sound was cleaner and better than some well known 12 inch PA speakers local GC guys and I compared with, it wasn't practical for purpose. Anyway, I found out that Markbass makes 2.1 PA systems called Ergo. It looks interesting. If this thing sounds as good as their CMD102p, I might want to get one. https://www.markbass.it/audio-systems/ergo/ In going back to the TX308, I thought I could leave a pair at a gig where I play weekly. Then I found out about the new Alto TS4 series. https://www.altoprofessional.com/series/alto-speakers_pa The TS4 is much higher than the TX308 in price, but still cheaper than other similar speakers, I might wait and see.
  6. I thought you were helping me save some money at first but it looks like I might be spending $15 more than I expected in the first place! LOL. Kidding aside, years ago I purchased a Markbass CMD 102P - 2x10 combo with a piezo. At the local GC, we took one out of the bass amp/guitar room to the PA room. I connected my keyboard, and we did AB tests with other powered speakers. I only remember the QSC K12. I remember that we turned off the K12 within a few seconds. That's how noticeable the differences were. The CMD 102p was so powerful and so much cleaner. I ended up buying one for my keys. I look forward to your review on the TX308.
  7. You might want to check out Neo Soundstation 2. A small footprint but lots of usable sounds.
  8. Exactly. I didn't want to shell out close to $10k for an electric standing studio desk. I bought a solid butcher block, electric desk frame, and hired a guy (any wood worker or carpenter can do this very easily. Then I bought a few wood computer monitor stands. The pics were taken before everything was setup, but you get the idea. I might add that the frame can hold 350 or 375 LBS, and the whole thing cost me $1,110 including the labor cost of $600 plus the monitor stands.
  9. Certainly you may want to check out Gig Performer. It comes with some built-in sounds so that you can start using it right away without purchasing any plugins. It is very intuitive and yet powerful. I had used Forte4, Cantabile, BloXpander, and a few others. By far, Gig Performer is the most flexible and easy setup for me. I run it in Windows and Macbook Pro.
  10. By the time you think you have every MIDi gadget, there's always something else;the MRCC is serious stuff!
  11. There are even lower priced USB midi hosts out there. Then again none of them including the Doremi supports powered USB hub for multiple USB midi devices. I'd spend a bit more to get one that works with a powered USB hub as they are more and more keyboards and midi devices without 5 pin midi.
  12. The Kenton or MIDItech models doesn't support USB hub but this one does; https://compasflamenco.com/midi-c-3/usb-host-midi-router-uhmr-p-8.html
  13. What are the reasons you were disappointed with the RD88? I have been thinking of getting an RD88 for its zen core support, but its lack of a midi in is kind of a deal breaker for me.

  15. Sounds like you are completely healed of the disease. As for me, I don't have any room! Both physical room and digital one. We had a new house built. Now my home studio is smaller. My main laptop with a 2TB SSD is maxed out. So that helps me not to get more VST instruments. I will no longer buy a laptop. Someday it will be replaced with a mini portable PC so that I can use it for studio and gigs. I can say no to new gear easier than before.
  16. I knew that I was going to spend some money if I open this thread! As a classically trained pianist, I always wanted to get some "formal" Jazz training. I chose the "All Access" deal.
  17. Song Master - "The Musician's Learning Assitant" I think I have a few IOS apps that do similar things, but Song Master, being a desktop app, seems to have more robust features. I wonder if anyone has tried it out.
  18. The River Pro is $549 and $499 for the River Max Plus. They seem to have the same specs. It's good to learn that LifePo4 batteries have 3 to 4 times longer lifespan. I found on Amazon LifePo4 batteries with similar specs for about the same prices, but no one hour recharge, which is not that important for me. I almost bought one of these as I am expecting to play more outdoor events. Then I realized I already have instruments and amps that are battery operated. One of my battery amps BA330 has multiple inputs, too. I might wait a big longer and get a larger capacity for music and other purposes such as camping.
  19. Looks like this is a pretty decent, compact home studio desk. Stage Right by Monoprice Studio Workstation
  20. I have used Foret4, Cantabile, BloXpander, and a few other VST hosts. For me, Gig Performer is the most intuitive and user friendly host while it's so versatile and powerful. I run it in Windows 10 and in an old Macbook Pro. It runs very smooth in both platforms. [video:youtube]
  21. It's good to know SWAM tenor sax for IOS is coming. I purchased just about all their IOS horns and strings. Much cheaper than the PC versions for sure. I'm not too fond of their strings, though. Now that I have SWAM horns in my iPad Pro, I don't know if I want/need the V-Horns by Acousticsamples. Their small footprints of hybrid sample modeling is appealing as my SSDs are fast filling up.
  22. Saving on state taxes is a primary reason why I buy from B&H as much as possible. I forgot about Pro Audio Star. I have purchased a few items over the years from them. Pro Audio Star is really "aggressive" in pricing. I almost bought Bose speakers a few times as they were so low in prices. Thanks for the tips on the GC 20% coupon.
  23. LOL. You might have jinxed it! The calls will keep you away from SW. I've been getting calls for a number of years. On other forums, people now talk about SW using pre-recorded calls. Some of the posts are over 13 years old. So I know that this has been going on for some time. I toyed with the idea of getting Spacestation X, but Sweetwater is the only dealer, and it was easy for me to say no and look for an alternative. I had purchased my ssv3 from SW before. You can check out all these posts about SW pesky calls. sweetwater soliciting calls
  24. I've been getting soliciting calls from Sweetwater. I had to write to them to put me on their do not call list. Sweetwater is aggressive and it's the only music vendor that makes soliciting calls to my cell phone. They need to realize that it can also drive customers away. I was looking into buying a Motion Sound KP series amp, but I didn't want to buy from Sweetwater. I found out that Musicians' Friend and its sister company Woodwind & Brasswind carry them also. I also buy from Kraft Music (always get some accessories for the same price) and B&H. B&H is interesting in that they do carry a lot of things including sound gear. I try my best to not shop from Amazon, either. Often I find better deals at B&H. Recently I bought speakers and an iPad 12.9 M1 from B&H and used their Payboo card to avoid the state sales tax. I pay off in the same month.
