ForScore user here, spent too many gigs dealing with notebooks. Each one has their own weakness & strength but ForScore works flawlessly for me for his & Sunday worship.

Something about the hammer action on these CP & YC boards that's intoxicating, satisfying & inspiring.

I'll stick with KK2.

I use Forescore for only loading, reading & editing charts so it does what its supposed to do for that, that being said they're not the only game on the playing field...
time for a new platform??

That was fun! Nothing technical or deep, just music for fun. T

Wish somebody would enlighten venue owners, they seem stuck in the 1970's when it comes to paying musicians.

I had the NS3 & replaced it with the YC88, the action & "other" sounds beat the NS3 except the NS3 organ... I'm partial to that (pun intended).

Dave, do you know if BP uses a custom piano sound on the Kronos or is it stock? He's such a monster player for him it probably doesn't really matter.

Horn parts are fun if the right sound is being used, for me the weapon of choice is the Korg Kronos. I detune the horns with slight reverb & "crunch" added. But the horrible sound I avoid is solo violin...
that being said the audience really doesn't know or care. But as keyboardists we do, such is our lot in life.

I take the easy way out, the Korg Kronos already has a patch "Don't Stop Believ'n", not spot on but close enough.

Yes YC has a solid organ with the update for sure.

Korg Kronos 2 73... a beast that can cover any gig by itself.
Yeah it's discontinued (so's the Forte) but that's to your favor as it would sell for less & I believe it's 47 lbs. so may not quite fit what your looking for. I also have the Yamaha YC88 which is 40 lbs. & can cover any gig, I've been using that one lately. I have a bad back so weight is a factor for sure.
YC has great APs & EPs but not so much on the "other" sounds. Good luck.

Where you're comfortable playing, your body will tell you. For years I stood (jumped & danced) while standing basically on my left foot, it's taken its toll and now I sit. Gives me more control of pedals.

I rolled my own screen "sun blocker" for my Kronos & it works great unless it's a windy day, tape works wonders.

You could've put KK on just about any board & he would tear it up... he's KK! It's great how Sting brought in the best of the best to his group. Man I miss that band.

That's like saying which song started rock 'n roll & most will point to "Rock Around the Clock" but I believe there were many blues infused tunes that predated it, morphed & led up to it.
Interesting topic though.

FWIW I got a used Casio Privia PX-S1000 (they're out of production) for under $500.00 & for a small gathering it's just what I needed. For the price good AP, lightweight and battery powered.

Having the iPad Pro 12" loaded & backlit with all my charts is awesome... don't miss the days of bring several fat binders that would bunch up or blow away on a windy outdoor gig!!!

Great interview!!! Dave's the most talented & humble artist you'll ever meet.

At the church I play at we have a shell from Grand Illusions, RD2000 inside ... love it. Been in place for the last five years & most people still think it's the real deal.
