  1. Horn parts are fun if the right sound is being used, for me the weapon of choice is the Korg Kronos. I detune the horns with slight reverb & "crunch"  added. But the horrible sound I avoid is solo violin...  

    that being said the audience really doesn't know or care. But as keyboardists we do, such is our lot in life.

  2. Korg Kronos 2 73...  a beast that can cover any gig by itself.

    Yeah it's discontinued (so's the Forte) but that's to your favor as it would sell for less & I believe it's 47 lbs. so may not quite fit what your looking for. I also have the Yamaha YC88 which is 40 lbs. & can cover any gig, I've been using that one lately. I have a bad back so weight is a factor for sure. 

    YC has great APs & EPs but not so much on the "other" sounds. Good luck.

  3. FWIW I got a used Casio Privia PX-S1000 (they're out of production) for under $500.00 & for a small gathering it's just what I needed. For the price good AP, lightweight and battery powered.
