  1. You got me on a thought and...OMFG, it's not backwards compatible to USB 3.0. But if I run it through an old cord into a USB 2.0 HUB and then into the macbook it works perfectly. Thank you Elmer, and take the rest of the day off with pay.
  2. Any Key Largo USB audio users out there? I recently thought I'd try out the KL (KeyLargo) as I use Mainstage and Hardware keyboards in the same rig. 1st KL showed up and all the analog stuff worked fine but any of the digital stuff coming through the USB sounded digitally choppy and almost unrecognizable. I called Sweetwater and spent some time on the phone with their tech guys who even took over my computer remotely and tried to work their way through the problem with no success. The computer recognizes the device, and no drivers are required for Mac's, but the audio is unusable/unrecognizable. So they send me a new one. Sweet. Only, I just got the new one and it has the exact same issue. So now of course, I'm thinking of course that it's me. Tried it with both my MacBookPro and my MacStudio. Both recognize the device. The MBP produces short digital slices of audio only. Nothing usable. The Mac Studio on the other had, produces NO audio at all through the KL. For the geeks the MBP is a 2018 Intel 6 core i9, the MacStudio is a 2022 M1 Max. They both have no problem with any of my other devices (UR44, UA Volt 476, Soundcraft Ui24) and I'm able to switch back and forth and get Mainstage to work on everything except the KL. Some google searches and a look at the Radial website produced no similar failure modes for anyone. So, anyone here using the KeyLargo and had any similar problems or advice?
  3. I used to have the isolated track. Can’t find it anymore. The clav is transformative to the song yet difficult to hear In the mastered track. Anyone have a lead on either the isolated track or a transcription?
  4. Looks like I'm going to be selling my ver 1.0 Polybrute...
  5. I didn't say we were successfully not drinking too much🙃
  6. Nord Stage 4...expensive AF. But why else would you have it?
  7. And to close out this topic. At our 2d gig I was able to SELL the SL88 to the backline "dude" (I'd hesitate to call it a backline company) for $200 and the promise that I could use it for free whenever I was in Roatan. So all in all I spent approx $200 to use an SL88 studio for a week. Played on the beach a couple of nights, had a lot of fun, trying real hard not to drink too much, playing Margaritaville for all the Gringos.
  8. Thread resurrection. I'm in Roatan (Island off Honduras). Here's how it worked out. Managed to find a used SL88 studio. Shipped to Miami, then got the talent buyer to ship it to Roatan by boat. My expense was just under $400. I own an Sl88 grand at home so this allowed me to get everything tuned/programmed in. I flew to Roatan with everything else in this picture except the SL88. Computer, mixface, key Largo, 3 pedals, assorted USB cords. 2 gigs next week, might add a 3rd? A lot of drinking and swimming/snorkeling in between. I plan on just leaving the keyboard here. Kind of a break even unless they want us back.
  9. In the last month I've sold over $8000 in gear on both Reverb and Sweetwater Gear Exchange. Reverb is by far the biggest market. Their shipping connection is with UPS which I find harder to work with than Fedex. They have a great price and selling guide tools that give you a better idea where the market actually is for whatever product you have. Sweetwater GX has a pretty slick website and gets you a great discount with Fedex, which is really flexible in their packing services. Their market is no where near as big as Reverbs. If you take the proceeds in Sweetwater "gift cards" or whatever they call it, they don't take out any fees. UPS/Fedex will not insure musical instruments, but Reverb and Sweetwater GX back that up and act as the escrow. It's really about as safe as they can make it. I haven't had any problem with anyone...yet. I have had very little luck on CL lately but have sold a lot of stuff there in the past. FB market place has gotten me nothing but scam attempts. I have actually been amazed at the prices I've gotten for some used gear lately.
  10. My Daughter lives in Hollywood, just off the walk of fame where some of the raining was the really heavy. Other than cleaning off the sidewalks of homeless and poop, she really had not issues other than they cancelled all her classes for a day so she was stuck in her room.
  11. I've been thinning the herd out (I started the Reverb/Sweetwater GX thread) and had some interesting data points. Some of my most expensive used gear sold pretty quickly and for some pretty good prices. Some of my less pricey gear isn't really attracting much attention. So, when we talk about the price of expensive keyboards like Nords, I'm kind of amazed at what used Nords can still get. Also just sold a Kurzweil Forte 7 in less than 24 hours. The Forte, I had once rented out to a backline company for an outrageous fee (Thanks to Dave Weiser for the tip on that one) so I honestly think that for the approx 6 years that I owned it, only really cost me approx $700-$800. (purchase price in 2016 less selling price this week add rental fees earned) The Nord Stage 3, over approx the same time probably cost me $1100 (purchase price in 2017 less the selling price today). Anyway it seems that when figuring the price of some of these new keyboards, there is a solid resale market for some of them, and I've found those last two keyboards to be surprisingly cost effective. Counterintuitive when I consider most of my music equipment to be a huge sunk cost.
  12. I'm thinning the herd and have listed a bunch of equipment on Reverb, Gear Exchange, and even FB Marketplace. Sold my Forte 7 on Gear exchange in 1 day. Pretty slick. No fees and discounted shipping. No scam artists. Very happy. Listed the same stuff on Reverb and I have been bombarded by a ton of scammy offers. Real PITA. 1 out of 5 messages is actual legit buyers, the rest are clear attempts to waste my time and try to scam me in various ways. Always wanting to communicate outside of Reverb via text or e-mail. Listed something on Facebook marketplace. What a scam-fest. One lady said she'd paid me on Paypal and would send her son to pickup. Then I got an obvious bullshit email from an address called paypalserviceproblems@GMAIL.COM saying there was a problem with the transaction and I needed to send her $100 to verify accounts. Nigerian prince level bullcrap. Nice copied graphics in the e-mail though, maybe it could trick someone who's naive. I still have faith in people in general, but the internet has certainly provided an amplifier to the worst of humanity. Anyway, if you're interested I have a Nord Stage 3 with DB-1 drawbars and a Gator semi rigid case on both Reverb and Gear Exchange. If you're interested I clearly prefer Gear Exchange. Not willing to sell the DB-1 separately just yet.
  13. Goodwill, that's where I get all my gig clothes. Seriously...
  14. Be a Goldfish, happiest animal on Earth -Ted Lasso
  15. The wurli really needed upgrading. Can't wait to try the new one. And the CP70 was a pretty big hole in the collection. I haven't bonded with any of the "augmented x" instruments. They seem really oriented to the cinematic crowd?
  16. Not to mention it's a single button push to use the bright filter on the piano or only two switch actions to chop the bottom off the EQ. I think the Bright Filter doesn't really remove enough of the low end on some stuff where it conflicts with the bass player.
  17. But split point lights are pretty cool but probably too expensive to have 73-88 of them. I say this about 100 times a year: Mainstage has a BRILLIANT thing called FLOATING SPLIT POINTS that's F-ing genius. I don't know if they have it patented or not but it would sure fix that issue. It looks at the notes you're playing and figures you only have two hands, and which way your current scales are running and it moves the split point to keep your hands playing the same patch. Really works like a champ and is better than the crossfade thing that Nord currently uses.
  18. After a many years playing other companies boards, I finally got to the place where I could splurge on a NS3, and to me it was a revelation. I found myself PLAYING more and scratching my head less. I don't know that it sounds better, but I sound better because I spend less time fighting the user interface and more time playing.
  19. Yes, they really need to put the setlist function BACK into the Stage 4, but until then I can control my setlist from Mainstage and trigger all the Nord prgm changes from there. Fortunately the Nord simplicity of use transfers over to it's ability to play well with other midi devices. I find that a Nord with Mainstage compliments each other exceptionally well. The Nord behaves predictably and it's pianos and hands on Organ controls fill in where Mainstage fails and Mainstage covers for all the other Nord shortcomings in the synth section (not to say that the Nord synth isn't pretty robust).
  20. I once told a dude, "For the first time in my life I don't think I can hear the snare" Actually really liked the guy and he was a great player, but he was a gear hound and was addicted to those vintage amps with no master volume. Just couldn't keep the volume in line. Anyway we haven't played together since and I'm a little bummed about it, but he's just gotta listen to the band more than himself.
  21. I would just explain it to him and use small words. And if that doesn't work, try speaking guitar to him: "I mean how are you supposed to get that "piano in the room" feel"" "How else can I get feedback?" "Tubes just make everything sound better."" "Its Vintage!" "This IS my small rig" Then show him pictures of Geoff Downes Asia touring rig.
  22. I've been a MotionSound fan for a while. There was a period when they were near bankrupt and maybe that's what you're basing it on, but I've found them to be very responsive lately. And they seem to be coming out with current products and keeping the website up to date. I've been using a KBR3d for maybe 10 years or more and never had a problem with it.
  23. My favorite thing about this video is that I have that exact same rug. Evidently Nord shops at Ikea.
  24. If only playing keys I sit. I'm a guitar player too and if required I'll set the boards up to stand so I can change between the two quicker. Lately I don't have any songs that require me to change Keys->guitar in mid song, but I used to have to do that a lot.
