  1. I think everyone is missing the point of his post which is because of the aformentioned clutter he cant make out the k/b part when he listens to the song in order to cover it verbatim. My earlier response, which got shxt on by Analogika, is that after listening to the song if you cant even make out the k/b parts because of the other instrumentation clutter I dont think anyone is going to notice if he makes up his own part that fits into the song. If the k/b player cant make out the k/b part i dont think that even a critical (discerning) listener will notice either. Sometimes the climb is not worth the view.
  2. I love this response (sarcasm).. After you chastise all of us for not seeking out what the original k/b part is, your recommendation is go gospel piano AND WING IT FROM THERE.......
  3. Sound tower has been glitchy from day 1. I would never ever use it. One user claimed it corrupted his synth and now the synth wont even boot up.
  4. Agree. The Vent, to me, sounds like a mic'd leslie where the internal sim sounds more like an in-room leslie. I can definitely see where the internal sim would sound more like a 251 than the Vent. I have a BURN and an original Vent but 90+% of the time I use the internal sim, the Vent is a little better (specifically the horn having more definition in fast speed) but the only one who notices it is me, no musician nor anyone in the audience knows the difference.
  5. This. The fact that as a k/b player you cant figure out what the keys are doing because the keys are buried in the mix, why are you overthinking this? Who's going to challenge you?
  6. Why do you feel you have to roam table to table and make small talk? Is it a requirement for the show from the venue or just something you want to do?
  7. I was quite impressed by the sound output of the turbosound inspire.
  8. For the most part I hate 80's hair band music. Use prophet 5 and Moog sounds from my Kurz and Gemini module for 70's retro music.
  9. Capt Foldback's site is the first place to go. If I recall the 51C has oddball wiring.
  10. If you're talking preference of sound it is always a real leslie, especially if it is driven by a tube amp. Given though that they have to be transported for gigs then that changes the dynamic; the days of hauling, setting up, micing the leslie are over for me, under gigging conditions sims work best for me.
  11. I have the original Vent, the Burn, MS Pro3T/LowPro. I have been using VB3-ii via the Gemini module using the internal sim. When I use an external sim with it for large shows I actually use the BURN rather than the Vent. I believe the Burn's algorithm is based from the original Mojo (which you own). I always found the Burn to sound more like an in-room leslie where the Vent sounds like a mic'd leslie. There should be no reason for you not to get a decent leslie from the original Mojo. I'm even getting a decent organ sound attaching my Burn to my Kurzweil Forte's 'dry' KB3 organ and that is the combination I've used the last two shows.
  12. Based on this my assumption is that you are not running stereo. Some piano samples that are stereo collapse to mono better than others. My Kurz sounds pretty good in mono even though the patcn I use is a stereo patch. Other keyboards suffer more. Does Nord offer a mono piano program?
  13. The PC4's piano is a derivative of the Forte. The Forte has two piano samples, a Steinway and a Yamaha, both 4 gigabytes each. The PC4's is 1 gigabyte each. Pre-Forte (like the PC3) is, if I recall correctly, 16 megabytes.
  14. I dont think its the speaker placement. Kronos pianos are not the greatest .... Like the Kurzweil series prior to the Forte the samples are long in the tooth ....
  15. I cant think of one 73 keybed that kurzweil has. they've had several 76 key in the arsenal over time (PC3, Artis, PC4-7 and several others).
  16. In a home stereo situation many audiophiles recommend depth = distance in order to get a proper listening stereo field. Example, if you are 10 ft from the speakers then the speakers should be somewhere around 10 feet apart. Not sure what an equivalent recommendation would be in a band situation since other instrument noise is also coming off the stage thereby potentially impacting the perceived stereo image of your monitors (which i believe is the question you are asking). I run in mono and have moved the speaker closer to me so that it does not need to be very loud. If other members cant hear it then i'll adjust the position so that it is facing them, if they still cant hear it then i recommend that they turn some of my keys in their personal monitor (we mic our instruments). This keeps my monitor to a normalized volume.
  17. How many programs are you using on the Forte? You could go into each program/Multi that you use and edit each program/multi, go to the "common" tab and reduce the output by -10 or -15 db for each one, that would deliver a lower level output signal. You could also purchase two attenuators that reduce the output by -20db, putting one on each output cord of the Forte, something similar to this: Link This is why I said before that a mixer is probably the easiest solution.
  18. It was, now it is the K2700. I found the Forte to run slightly hotter than the PC3; I could not find that master adjustment that was in the PC3 on the Forte. Several people including Dave Weiser confirmed that 'feature' was not moved forward to the Forte. Bummer ....
  19. The PC3 series has this but the Forte does not.
  20. I also use a Forte, believe it or not but a mixer in between IS probably the easiest solution. The only other solution i can think of that is easy is to turn up the Forte volume slider to 50% then turn down your monitor.
