  1. I’ve heard good things about Fat Llama but haven’t dealt with them personally.
  2. We rented both our van and our backline from https://www.oooshtours.co.uk/contact last time, great folks to deal with. Not sure on the price tag unfortunately, I brought my own keys as I was told it was cheaper that way... (course the airline/customs briefly lost both boards and the bass and damaged my Stage)
  3. Thanks everyone for the recommendations! dB, if it works out, I'd love to be a guest at a WCKCFH! I don't have too many concrete plans, so let me know if something works best for you.
  4. Never a fan of owners moving teams, but this story didn’t really reflect well on the old coliseum… Possum stinks up the joint
  5. Very much aware of the price of such a trip... but it's also the first actual vacation I've taken in a long time, and I'm just wrapping up a part-time day job contract thing, so I'm giving myself licence to indulge somewhat. Didn't do it on purpose, but you can bet I'm packing my jersey. Prices be damned, if the series does go that far. Haven't gotten many plans yet but I've got over a week to stretch out and check out places. Of course, venues. Would love to check out some stores as well. Does Ken Rich do tours? And Josh, would love to if I can swing it. I'll be independent but I also won't be alone, so we'll see if I make it out of the city or not. Too bad you weren't around here when I actually did make it to SD way back when... Bobby and I went for lunch and hung out at his place a bit. Good times.
  6. I'll be visiting, mostly as a vacation, although there may be some casual playing that happens. Any recommendations? Anyone looking to hang?
  7. Don't you start a thread like this every year, Ed?
  8. I remember being at a party a few years ago with non-musician friends (but still mostly artists...) and the host was extolling the virtues of his Crosley self-contained model... the record was skipping as he was talking about it. No one seemed to notice. Idk, it was a weird/sad moment for me.
  9. Not a bad idea, Chuck. No common denominator in instrument played, but so many common issues and obstacles faced regardless of level and region. I'd imagine there would be some interest, and perhaps a wider pull over time since, as you mentioned, it seems to be an unfilled niche.
  10. I’ve gotten lots of ads for it, I can tell ya that. As cool as it could be, I’m more inclined to just pay for an online lesson with someone directly, even if it’s a group lesson. There are plenty of cool people who are eons ahead of where I am to learn from. I suppose if you really dig Cory (or Jesús, or Herbie), you might be inclined to do so, but I don’t know if I would. But hey, it’s only money, so smoke ‘em if you got ‘em.
  11. Although this letter is addressed to NFL GMs, I think it's maybe more of a PR thing to pre-emptively get fans on his side when a team does call his name. I'm pretty sure front offices know his story and those most likely to draft him have had several meetings over the past few months. Nonetheless, cool to hear it in his own words, and I'm sure a few of you may be interested in learning more about him on a personal level. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/anthony-richardson-nfl-football-florida-gators Don't worry, I'll likely slide back over to the CFB thread and outta here once he gets drafted lol.
  12. Hard to believe we don't have a dedicated meme thread at this point... Elmer, feel free to do the honours.
  13. But dominant sevens, while not being a tonic sound in Western theory, are omnipresent as the tonic sound in blues music, which is a pretty darn big influence on rock. But regardless, I do like the way you’re going to approach it, Morrissey.
  14. Hey, just cause it's not the one, doesn't mean it can't feel like the one sometimes!
  15. In the camp of "don't think too much, just breathe" Was there a particular reason you wanted to analyze it? Soloing or stretching it out to jam or something, or just curiosity? Otherwise, yeah, I can look at the chord progression and think of the whole tune being in Emi. Now, listening, the verse sounds like it sits more on the A than the Emi, like a v-I, but it's one of those that you can think of as i-IV, ii-V, or v-I and it's all more or less the same to me (in this context). B section I'd look at as bIV, v, bII, bIII, bVII, viidim. All fairly common rock chords, just a little modal borrowing. But yeah, don't overthink. Breathe! ( PS The tempo is right for taking a nice deep breath in for a bar and out for a bar and in for a bar and so on and so forth)
  16. See this is where you went wrong. Doritos just did a whole marketing campaign around Jack Harlow switching from rapping to triangle. It could've been you!!! Fame, fortune, unlimited flavoured corn chips, ya threw it all down the drain! Anyway, yeah, uh, commiseration, Adam. Stay strong through this trying time.
  17. Someone take away my Kijiji account, it's a problem. EV RE20, again on a deal.
  18. Hey Jim, just watched your demo videos. Great playing man. In the second longer video, is the assignable knob mapped to a pitch envelope or is it an actual simulation of turning the console off and back on again? (Going back to the editability of the MTW2 and Leslie sim)
  19. It would be a luxury, but I'd love one for organ-heavy gigs. A three-board rig with a weighted action and dedicated synth would be
  20. Well, here’s the announcement. https://hammondorganco.com/xk-4?fbclid=IwAR0KyXVOxlbv0A5Zvvt7FF3A3HRAMkMke6VH4sqXG1TtdFqDEW0T9Zgz6HM “NEW “MODELED TONE WHEEL 2” SOUND ENGINE VIRTUAL MULTI-CONTACT KEYBOARD NEW DIGITAL LESLIE ALGORITHM NEW TUBE MODELING SYSTEM USER-ASSIGNABLE KNOBS/SWITCHES COLOR DISPLAY 11-PIN LESLIE JACK PITCH BEND/MOD WHEELS STANDARD AC PLUG”
  21. @CEB mentioned an interesting technique in a thread a few weeks ago. Focus on relaxing your palms if you feel tension. Kind of a weird way of thinking about it but I’ve tried it on some gigs recently and it really helped keep me loose and limber on some chopsier tunes.
  22. This isn’t me, but some high school students I was teaching a few years ago… Thrash metal band, typical teenager shredding stuff. One guitarist who writes all the riffs and can actually play half-decently, another who is really just there for the hang. Guitar 1 is trying to teach Guitar 2 one of the new riffs. After a minute 1 stops and asks if 2 tuned his guitar before starting to play. He most definitely had not. 1 hands him his tuner and asks him to tune. 2 tunes his E string, then his A string, then unplugs and hands the tuner back. ”Aren’t you going to tune the other four strings?” ”Why would I? I never play them.” I had to do everything in my power to stop myself from bursting out laughing, but even his bandmates were chuckling. He did not last much longer.
  23. Reminds me a bit of The Grid.
  24. That's what your piano's sustain pedal is for, Ed!
