  1. @Greg Mein, This is a demo on the 355 which is an upgrade on the 350. I think it will help to watch this demo especially toward the end. It talks about the FX effects level knob which is a great way to review all patches to insure none of them are going to blow you out of the room and feedback in the louder OD/Dist modes before playing in front of an audience. The 355 has two amps A and B with one being lounder for lead and the other being the same but less volume for rhythm. Hope this is helpful...😎
  2. Susanna has a very nice voice and I'm throwing out a Happy 65th Birthday to her! 😎
  3. @surfergirl, I've been running DR Pure Blues 10's on all my electrics following through on @Caevan O’Shite's recommendation. They are round wound on round cores for less tension and I really like them. The unwound 3rd's do not sound tinny so I don't need a wound 3rd on my electrics anymore...and, the MusicNomad products for both string and body cleaning are great too! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  4. Happy 89th Birthday to the King of Rock and Roll! He is the reason I picked up a guitar and started playing and singing at the age of 13. I credit Scotty Moore for the actual guitar playing though LoL! They are bringing Elvis back as we speak via AI hologram shows. Starting this year 2024 in London and future shows coming to Las Vegas. I've been a fan since 1956 when his version of Blue Suede Shoes first came out and I was only 6 years old. I'm thinking a trip to Vegas is in my future...EP Lives on!!! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  5. @Ivan May, I really loved the Byrds video of You Ain't Going Nowhere you posted with the lead player throwing in that B-Bender Tele steel guitar vibe! The original was written and recorded by Bob Dylan. The version by Bob Dylan and Robbie Robertson on the Basement Tapes Album is still a favorite: πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  6. OK You surfer dudes and girls, Here's some California Big Waves (i.e. Mavericks)...turn up the sound and go full screen and volume...skip to 20:00 if you want to skip the story and get to the waves!!! KOWABUNGA...πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  7. @KuruPrionz, +1 on hosting open mic's. I have played many. The host band or solo act usually opens up for the 1st 30 minutes or so and they run the PA. Since you have a pair of JBL poles on sub woofers and only have to bring a couple of mic's, you're pretty well set up at that club to invite other musicians and run the PA. Your amp can provide a monitor for the singers which most open mic's lack and thus the performers lack doing their best job when/if they can't hear their vocals. 2 mic's can handle harmonicas, violins, singers, harmony, etc. It will be a fun time for all and bring in some wine and beer sales for the owners. One of the small clubs I played on a regular basis was standing room only and always packed more on open mic Thursdays than their regular big name acts on Friday nights. Looking forward to you reporting back on how it went!!! 😎
  8. @KuruPrionz, It's good to see you getting gigs at the nearby clubs! Great project! Getting the amp/pa up off the floor on a stand really makes a big difference when it comes to using it as a PA. I mount my EX4 Roland using it's stand mount for a guitar and mic set up. The cabinet shape allows me to leave it on the floor and face it back as my monitor if using a house PA. Your amp with a tilt back kick stand will allow you to do the same (if you need to)...anyway, break a leg and have some fun with playing out (solo I presume)...πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  9. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2024 TO ALL OUR FORUMITES!!!
  10. Tom Smothers of The Smothers Brothers passed away December 26, 2023 at the age of 86. He brought a ton of laughter to many people and played a pretty decent acoustic guitar. Tom and Dick Smothers are American Icons... 😎
  11. @Anderton, I'm not a fan of Finger Ease and definitely not a fan of talcom powder. My last use of Finger Ease was to spray it on a cloth and wipe the surrace of the strings and metal parts after playing each time to keep my acid hands from wearing them (especially gold plated pups, tuners, bridges, etc.). I found a better product called Music Nomad Premium String Care Kit. One swipe up and down the strings and comes with a wipe of rag that I use to wipe of metal parts. It doesn't stop string squeak but neither does Finger Ease and talcom powder... Elixir Nanoweb and Polyweb strings will reduce string squeak a little. Flatwound strings will reduce all string squeak but they are stiff and dull the sound IMHO. Magma Flats strings made in Argentina will remove all string squeak both on electric and acoustic. They are just like flat wounds but sound much brighter. They use a different polishing process winding hex cores with round wounds and then polish them down to flat. I find them a little to stiff and not as easy to bend just like regular flatwounds. Regular flatswound are usually stainless steel and can cause a little fret wear if bending a lot. I have decided to use @Caevan O’Shite's, recommended DR Pure Blues strings with an unwound 3rd string and I'm experimenting with DR Sunbeams and/or Veritas acoustic strings. Yes, I have to put up with a little squeak but I like the bright sound along with round wound on round cores instead of hex cores which reduce tension and make stings more comforable and easier bends. You can reduce string squeak by lifting and moving your fretting hand to avoid sliding when it's not needed...just a few thoughts. I mostly play for myself now days and can put up with a little squeak in order to have brighter for longer strings with less tension. Have fun with it! 😎
  12. +1,000 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays and Happy New Year (coming soon) to all of our forumites!!! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  13. @skipclone 1, Glad to hear from you again Skip! Sorry about that eye falling out and glad you recovered. I've never heard of it getting that hot and causing such an injury! Hope you make it back to the States and take care of the family issues. I'm thinking you may look into shipping the guitars and bypassing any transport hurdles. There are guitar companies that sell and ship guitars to the States, maybe they can give you some useful information on how it's done. You have lived a successful hardworking life in Japan and I have no doubt you will do well doing the same back home. Very happy to hear your projects are coming to fruition! My life has been good so far but I'm playing at home and avoiding any gigs as my memory is fading. I still may get out and play an open mic now and then as I only have to remember 3 or 4 tunes LoL! I have renewed my Sun Style Tai Chi study and practice this past year and do it for health reasons to keep my back and shoulders and diabetes in check. I've retired from my other martial arts and guitar gigs. It's hell getting old but it beats pushing up daiseys! Just added a new guitar to the harem and hope I can contian myself and start selling some of the 13 others I just can't seem to depart with. I guess I'm a horder LoL! Thanks for checking in and keep us posted on the new adventures! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  14. The Rolling Stones are the GOAT IMHO! Happy 80th Birthday to Keith a fantastic 5 string Tele player! He definitely helped put the Stones at the top of my rock and roll favorites! I remember my High School days dancing to Satisfaction! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  15. Thanks SG! The purchase price shown in the OP at $2,899 Cream City, goest up to $2,999 on Reverb. I got mine out the door with my strings and set up for 11's with shipping at $2,600. +1,000 on being a big Tommy Emmanuel fan. I've seen him live on stage twice over the years and will go see him again the next time he comes to town, as I'm due for another round. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  16. @Caevan O’Shite, Thanks Caevan you've got me figured out to a T. The beauty of playing solo is you get to "play what your want to in the way you want it to be!" It helps to have a nice little axe to get the inspiration going too! 😎 πŸ‘
  17. https://www.creamcitymusic.com/maton-tommy-emmanuel-808-body-cutaway-acoustic-electric-guitar/ Just ordered a new acoustic guitar and this will be the last one LoL! Tommy Emmanuel cutaway. The specs say it's a Pau Ferro fingerboard, but it's Ebony far as I can tell! It arrived on Friday the 15th and I've been playing it ever since. The electronics are excellent. The neck is nice and thin and the action is great. I bought it through Cream City Music .com, and had them set it up with 11-52 Elixir Nanowebs. I will never consider myself worthy of sweeping the stage for Tommy but then again, I'm no Les Paul, SRV, Eric Clapton, etc., either when it comes to signature type guitars! I'm going to try and post a picture but who knows if I can? It is the only model with the little Kangarroo inlayed on the headstock and the Chet Atkins "CPG" (Certified Guitar Player) inlay at the 12 fret. Beautiful case and it is in new mint condition. Queensland Maple back and sides and AAA Spruce top. Did I say I'm in love? 😎
  18. I loved my Fender tube amps as they have my favorite amp sound with a touch of their 2nd to none Reverb. My only problem is they just kept getting heavier as I got older. I had a 212 Twin Reverb around 80lbs, then I sized down to a Hot Rod 410 DeVille around 50lbs and sized down again with a 112 Hot Rod Deluxe around 35lbs. They never gave me any problems and were always dependable and roadworthy and all ran 6L6's. Then Fender came out with the 65 Deluxe 112 Solid State Tonemaster that simulates the tube version to a T at around 22lbs. I'm now spoiled and will be selling my two remaining tubers. I also have a Roland EX4 Solid State amp/PA that weighs around 22lbs that gets the most use these days as I sing and play small venues and will be selling my big heavy PA one of these days... About the only thing I recommend to Fender 6L6 tubers is to buy "matched power tubes" and have the bias set anytime you change them. 😎
  19. I think I would rent a small U-haul tuck and load your guitars and amps along with anyother fragile keepsakes. They have small car moving trailers that fit on the back of the U-haul lifting your front wheels, so you could tow you car behind if it's not too big. Just a thought...good luck with the move! 😎
  20. Rest in Peace Denny Laine...
  21. I like my MXR Carbon Copy delay. Here's one of many demos on Ytube: πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  22. Rest in Peace Ted Hoffman "Tedster"...
  23. Rest in Peace Kevin "Geordie" Walker...
