  1. I'm bumping this thread...wondering if anyone has found any new controllers that transmit high trigger MIDI? While I love the organ tone I can dial in from my Electro 5D, the Hammond B3-X is superior (as we all know). But the Nord is so much more playable because of the high trigger. It's very noticeable when playing quick passages etc. and for that reason, I don't use the B3-X software live, in most instances. I will continue to use the software in recording and writing but I really wish there was an elegant solution to make it viable for live use. Your thoughts?
  2. Yes, my apologies...you must use voucher code KNIF-3999... that's how you get the low price... It's a great sounding plugin...
  3. Just picked it up for $39.99!!! Go to the Plugin Alliance website...it expires 2/14 at midnight. If you're not familiar with it, the Knifonium sounds amazing...this is an emulation of the all-tube amazing synth... Grab it at this price! (I have NO commercial interest in this; I DO NOT work for them...just had downloaded the demo months ago but never pulled the trigger because it was so expensive). But at this price, couldn't resist!!! Figured I'd pass the info on...
  4. So sad, just saw this...a true master...I will miss him. Thank God we have his legacy to inspire and teach us...
  5. If everything works, I'd consider having a custom wood case made for it. Find a talented woodworker and take plenty of pics and videos and make it an epic restoration. Could be fun!
  6. Great sounding AND great playing! Thanks for sharing! I Will check out the Valente at some point.
  7. Just grabbed it myself. Stuck home in quarantine (Me, the wife, and daughter all have Covid!) so I will have plenty of time to play with my virtual toys!
  8. Public Service Announcement: When I first started using MainStage (years ago, since version 1.0!) I would lose all audio output sometimes. Thinking it was a computer glitch, I'd reboot and all would be fine. It was only many months later I realized that if I hit the "M" key on the keyboard, it would MUTE the output! SO... the first rule of thumb, if you hear no output at a soundcheck...make sure the concert is not MUTED (The symbol is in the upper right corner of the concert.) Just my 2 cents for anyone going this route; it's the little things like this that can discourage you in the beginning. Good luck to you! Tom
  9. Any videos that show that? I saw a few but they were unclear.
  10. I've seen several videos on YouTube describing how people wrap them after a gig or session. Personally, I just wrap them like a "lasso" and they've never failed me. But some people swear by a certain method. Your insights on this?
  11. I guess if the "high definition digital voices" are good, you wouldn't really need a polyphonic synth. Maybe they just decided to give us an amazing Analog modeled one... Either way, I'm in the market for something to use in conjunction with the Electro, and this would save me having to drag the laptop, controller, etc... Maybe even leave the Electro home!
  12. It seems to tick most of the boxes, except for the big unknown..."street price"...
  13. Hey folks, Just wondering if anyone else has recently gotten this board. I need a new controller for MainStage, and this seems to fit the bill, in a lot of scenarios. I'd use it for its internal pianos; the 88 keys could give also me generous splits in MainStage; it would be in conjunction with the Electro 5D 73, which is primarily for organs and EP's. However, if the EPs are decent then I'd just use the Electro for organ; or in the instances when I just want one board, I'd use it to also control B3-X on Mainstage. Am I missing anything here? It seems to make more sense to spend the extra money and get a great sounding flexible sound engine, in addition to 88 keys; rather than spending almost as much, if not more, on a controller that makes NO sound. Your expert advice is always appreciated! Tom
  14. Seems like a competitor to something like a Nord Stage; probably in both build quality and pricing.
  15. Just my .02... I use an Electro 5D 73 key, with waterfall action. It's my workhorse for everything... Sure, it's a compromise like everything else but it won't let you down in any one area, too much... I've adapted my piano technique to it for most things (OK, you're not going to do a full-blown classical gig with it but then again, only a real piano would suffice anyway!) And the organ and Rhodes sound great to me... again, a real B3 or Rhodes would be ideal but of course, most of us don't have them or can't justify moving them, etc. At the end of the day, find something and realize it's a "clone" of something regardless...as were the original B3 and Rhodes, anyway...you're far better off worrying about music than equipment. It's an endless rabbit hole... If you could find one of these, used, for a decent price, you couldn't go wrong.
  16. That looks great! I was grinning from ear to ear all the time while watching the trailer. COUNT ME IN to check that out for sure!!! Thanks so much for sharing...made my day!!!
  17. I have them both. Different. Glad I own both! And super cool that they gave such a significant upgrade for free!
  18. Just curious...is there a MIDI CC# that represents "high trigger point"? I suppose I should just google it, but if anyone knows, please chime in...
  19. I think that in general, the Prog Guys liked keyboards that were very articulate. While the Rhodes can be that way, I think its best when playing smooth, complex jazz chords. For the Prog stuff, I feel the other keyboards cut through better...
  20. Thanks, Scott! much appreciated for your insight...
  21. Thanks for the info, Viv! How does this controller behave with a plugin like B3-X? Sorry if I might have missed some of the earlier comments...
  22. Question: (1) How loud are the built in speakers? I do a lot of private gigs; and church gigs. I'm sure it would fill someone's living room or great room; how would it be in a small Church setting? (2) Can you have the internal speakers play, and plug in a small supplemental amplifier as well? This could really fit the bill for me...
  23. I have the iOS version, absolutely love it. I wonder, is there a discount available if I buy the version for my MacBook Pro?
  24. Hi Brenner, is that the Studiologic Numa Compact 2x? I've been considering that one as well.
