  1. Hey! The picture might be a little misleading as I'd moved the bench back a little for more clarity in the shot. I end up sitting just slightly behind where the unit is so I can comfortably reach it (and I'm north of 60, so I'm not exactly a young pup!). I don't use the wheels a lot because the music doesn't call for it. Probably would get old fast in a top 40 gig. The unit is an Atemp MC-1. It works great.... however, I'm not sure how logistics would be getting one now, as the company is located in Russia... ☹️
  2. I watched it on my phone, so it was a bit hard to tell, but it looked like a Sonic Cell to me.
  3. I've been gigging with the Kronos LS for the last few years. I'll be darned if the SKX doesn't feel better for playing piano (though I still prefer a fully weighted action). Overall, yeah, I'm happy with it.
  4. No. That was a rack module. There was an actual keyboard designed to run VSTs several years ago.
  5. Not a dumb question. Someone did try that a few years back... Maybe 10 years ago? Can't remember the name. They had a few big names using their keyboard but for whatever reason it never quite took off.
  6. This thread is timely for me as I'm in the midst of converting back to a laptop based rig. I've been using a Kronos LS for 3 or 4 years. It's done everything well and really is a fine board. And yup, less to schlep, less to go wrong. But at the end of the day, my vst's just sound better. Way better. We'll ll see if I feel it's worth it after festival season comes to end...
  7. Back in the early 80's I managed to pick up a Mellotron 400D. I was so in love with the idea of how cool it was to have one that I was trying to use it on just about every song in the full time Holiday Inn band that I was in. Of course everyone else in the band hated it because I couldn't keep the damn thing in tune. I finally got tired of the tuning and the novelty wore off. I sold it a few years later for $125 and felt like I'd gotten a good deal. *sigh*
  8. So far, so good. Yeah, that's an old Dell Workstation Laptop (M6600). It's an i7 with 16 GB RAM, but it's an early i7 for sure. Once I get past about 12-13 GB of RAM loaded from GP, I start getting clicks & pops, so I'm learning some memory management tricks, like running 2 instances to have a rack of commonly used instruments. I also went thru their guide on making a windows computer more stable for GP. The thing (along with its mega-brick power supply) weigh a ton, so I'm looking forward to replacing it soon.
  9. I've been playing with a singer/songwriter for the last 25 years. The gig has more & more evolved into an organ centric gig, so I've been wanting to go to a dual manual organ. Her music, however still calls for other sounds- primarily Wurlie, Piano, Mellotron & a few other, mostly organic sounds. So, I just redid my live rig. Yesterday was the first gig with it. I'm only using the SKX's organ & accordion. Everything else is from my Laptop running Gig Performer. Everything worked, yay!
  10. Most useful would have to be my Kronos LS. The versatility and power of it are pretty incredible. However, as a jack of all trades, I ultimately find it to be a master of none and I'm currently in the process of converting back to a laptop based rig. Most enjoyable would likely be my Wurlitzer 200. I've gigged that thing a decent amount and it's simply an inspiring joy to play. Best is my Multimoog, which I got in 1979 and still have and use. Cut my synth teeth on it and bringing it to an audition helped me land my first road gig. That little baby has been my biggest game changer!
  11. Memory is a bit sketchy since I never bought any additional libraries for mine, but when the Kronos first came out, you couldn't Uninstall a library from one unit and put it in another. This caused a lot of backlash and I believe they changed that limitation to allow for 3 installations (but not simultaneous).
  12. I'd say that's a pretty class act move on Korg's part (which kinda makes up for the not so class act limitation to begin with).
  13. It's not that unlike a piano. It needs to be maintained... Tuned, regulated & whatever else. So every one is different and they can vary from incredible to awful. I had a Rhodes 100 years ago and it sure didn't sound or play as well as my A-88 triggering Keyscape's Rhodes.
  14. That's my biggest disappointment with the SKX... The lack of pitch and mod controllers. I will likely get an Atemp MC1 for that.
  15. And of course I just bought a SKX last month. Uggh.
  16. Interesting! Back around 1980 I remember running my Rhodes thru the filter of my Multimoog ( with plenty of LFO on it) in an attempt to duplicate the sound. I got pretty darned close (or at least so my far less discernable ears from 40+years ago thought...)
  17. From my days in retail years ago, we were taught "People buy emotionally and justify the purchase with logic later". So... Go ahead and get the Prophet. You'll be able to justify it to the rest of us after the fact! ð
  18. Would love to know which bag. I was looking at the GK61, but dimensions didn't seem quite right.
  19. After initially wanting a Mojo Classic and finding out it's just about out of stock everywhere, I've decided to get a Hammond SKX. I have a few questions about accessories for it... Anyone have a stand for a dual manual clone that they love & recommend? I'm interested in the Gatorworks WS250, but open to suggestions. Any gig bag options other than Hammond & Crumar's? (I really like the Crumar Trolley gig bag, but again, not in stock). Has anyone converted the Hammond 11-pin to Dual 1/4â³ â Studio 12 Cable to be a cable to route the 11 pin out to a Vent? A User on Sweetwater's site said it's just a matter of reversing the ring & tip wires. I think I can do that much myself, but would love verification from someone around here that it works.. thanks, greg
  20. Uggh. That's what I was afraid of. I have seen the suitcase version, but had my heart set on the classic. Might take a closer look at the SKX though.
  21. Thanks. Price is a little high, probably because of supply and demand. I'd also prefer to deal locally if possible.
  22. Was ready to pull the trigger on one and nobody seems to have it in stock and no one has an eta on getting more. Supply chain issue or is it being replaced already?
  23. I have the composer cloud plus subscription, so I have them also. Not a fan. Compared the other pianos I have (True Pianos & Keyscape), they are weak and not extremely playable. After a few hours testing, I pulled them off my drives.
  24. Charlie Watts = mature. Keith Moon = immature (not saying immaturity doesn't have its place...)
