  1. I watched The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour every week. The show was awesome. They came on right after the Ed Sullivan Show as I recall. So it was nights full of excellent bands and comedy skits.
  2. I just wash my hands before playing each session, and since I was a bricklayer by trade, most of my fingerprints are gone, and my fingers are all smooth.
  3. Merry Christmas And Happy Holidays you pickers and grinners.
  4. Happy Holidays everyone. We had a decent year health wise in 2023. Both of us have old age health related issues but they have been fairly easy to deal with so far. Stay healthy and happy for '24 all of you.
  5. Best wishes for the new guitar amigo. I hope you have a ball playing that new ax for many years to come.
  6. Saw Keef last night guesting on the Willy Nelsons 90th birthday party on CBS. Happy Birthday Keef and many more happy and healthy ones as well.
  7. I have been playing guitar since the late 1960's. I practice daily for an hour or so. For me it is just a beloved hobby. When I was younger and wanted the big money and the groupies, I practiced 4 to 5 hours daily, including a hour of scales, and theory, this was after a full day of masonry work which is what I did for a living. I tried playing out in local clubs but to me it was "WORK", (work that paid only a pittance compared to my union day job) that took the fun out of it for me, so I quit playing out. You can hear my recordings by clicking on this link http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=143231&content=music
  8. I once had a chance to buy one for fifty bucks (long ago) I passed on that sale.
  9. I have not purchased any guitar straps in over 15 years, and some I have been using since the late 1970's.
  10. I once had a Fender 30 all tube amp from the Rivera era about the size of a deluxe reverb with one 12 (of course I put in an EVM 12L to replace the stock speaker) and today if I still owned that Fender 30 I would put in an Eminence Cannabis Rex 12" speaker The Fender 30 had excellent tone and channel switching. I gave it to my oldest kid when I bought my first Mesa Boogie Mark II C+ head with a 1-12 cabinet with an EVM 12 L in it. (I still have that EVM 12L to this day some 40 years or so later). I still use that EVM 12L With my Egnater Tweaker 15 watt head, as well as a separate 1-12 cab with a Cannabis Rex. And believe me that 15 watt Tweaker head with the 2 cabs is way louder than I want to play these days. Mostly I use my 15 watt Fender Super Champ X2 with a 10" Eminence Little Buddy hemp cone speaker, my all time favorite amp/speaker combo ever truthfully. Below see a list of amps I have owned in the past. 1) Fender Black Face Bassman 1960's with 2-12 Cab with stock speakers 2) Fender Black Face Deluxe Reverb 1960's with stock speaker 3) Marshall Hundred Watt Plexi head with Sunn 6-12 Bass cabinet 4) Fender Silver Face Twin Reverb with 2- JBL K 120 Speakers 5) Fender Silver Face Pro Reverb with 2- JBL K 120 Speakers 6) Fender Silver Face Deluxe Reverb with stock speaker 7) Peavey Hundred watt 2-12 hybrid amp (I don't remember the model number) 😎 Peavey Fifty watt 2-12 hybrid amp (I don't remember the model number) 9) Peavey two Hundred watt hybrid amp head (I don't remember the model number or speaker combination) 10) Music Man Hundred watt hybrid Combo with stock speakers (I don't remember the model number) 11) Music Man fifty watt hybrid Combo with stock speakers (I don't remember the model number) 12) Fender 30 one twelve combo (Rivera Era) With EVM 12 L. (This is one of my all time favorites) 13) Seymour Duncan hundred watt head Model unknown with the preamp modules that could be changed 14) Mesa Boogie Mark II C+ 80 watt head which was a Mark II B, then C, Then C+ With a 1-12 cab with an EVM 12L in it. 15) Mesa Boogie Quad Preamp with Strategy 400 Power amp with 4 -1-12 cabs with EVM 12L's in them 16) Mesa Boogie Mark IV 80 watt combo (with the OEM EVM 12L speaker from the Mark II C+ that I still have but did not sell with the amp). 17) Gallien Kruegar Micro Lead ML250 18) Galilien Kruegar later model Micro Lead (Model unknown) 19) 2 Fender Frontman 15 Gs with a modeler pedal board in front for stereo practice.1 20) Fender Hot Rod Deluxe combo with an Eminence Cannabis Rex 12" speaker. 21) Bogner Alchemist 50 watt tube 1-12 combo, (did not like it, sent it back) 22) Mesa Boogie Hundred watt Lone Star Classic head. 12. I never cared for The Best Guitarist Ever concept. They are all good in someones opinion. But best ever, I don't think so,
  13. I use composition programs to create my backing tracks. I used Jammer Professional for years and Band In A Box. Click on the link https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandID=143231&content=songs and check out Meandering Around in G Minor, September 11th 2001 in America, Lady Lady Lady I Got The Blues for you, Some of the other stuff was done before (Long Before) Some of the older songs I did before computer recording apps actually included actual audio tracks some of the older ones were MIDI only then rendered to a mix on Tape Decks (That long ago)
  14. Wow, I do not know Al Di Meola personally but we were both from NJ and both took lessons from Bob Aslanian who taught in Forked River NJ when I took lessons from him. and I think Bob was from Teaneck N.J. before he moved south to Forked River N.J. I think Al took lessons from Bob when Al grew up in Bergenfield N.J. just a few miles north of Teaneck. Bob passed away a year or two back, and I learned that from Al's Facebook page. I hope Al gets well soon. He is one amazing player.
  15. Rest In Peace Terry Kirkman, Death at 83 is a fairly good run. (I am bumping up on completing my 81st year on the planet in a few months).
  16. I use D'addario XL110's on every guitar that I own. Been using them for 40+ years and have had no complaints for tone and feel so far. I even used the D'addario XL110's on my acoustic guitars when I had them and played them
  17. I lock the tremolo down immediately upon setting a new guitar up the first time. I am a stickler for keeping the guitar in tune for as long as possible in any set. The tremolo is a useful tool for many players. Jeff beck was an outstanding example of that, however I can bend whatever strings I wish with my fretting hand.
