  1. I actually purchased MathOfInsects"s SV-1. My relationship with it was somewhat lukewarm in the beginning but I started gigging with it and got attached to it despite of its shortcomings. My main complaint was the Ac. Piano sound and the inability to layer sounds. When SV-2 was introduced in NAMM on January 2020 I put my SV-1 for sale and to my surprise it sold right away. So now I didn"t have a weighted board in my gig rig any more and I decided that I"ll setup a MainStage rig while waiting for the SV-2 to become available so that I could then decide whether to go with MainStage or SV-2. However, I did great job procrastinating and then one day Sweetwater rep called me and said he has a white 73-key SV-2 available, do you want it? So, I got my SV-2S 73 just in time when the gigs dried up in March. One thing like about SV-2 (and SV-1) is the ergonomics. I can put my synth board on top of the SV-2 and have the keybeds within close distance of each other. Also, the user interface of the SV inspires to experiment with effects while playing E.P. and other sounds too, something I never did before I got the SV. With the updated Ac. piano sounds with SV-2 my main complaint is gone. And, SV-2 enables adjusting layered sounds on the fly, for example adding a pad under the piano. On top of all that it looks good which of course is the most important thing when you"re playing live ;-)
  2. No, it doesn't go through the tube/effects. And by the way, one thing they screwed up with the SV-2 is that with SV-1 the input bypassed the master volume, so you could connect your second board to the SV-1 input and then control its volume independently from the SV-1 volume level. That's not the case any more. With SV-2 changing the master volume affects the volume level of the input signal. So you can't really use the SV-2 to mix in your second board any more ð¡
  3. We did some online practicing with my band using JamKazaam. This was about 3 years ago. It turned out that Wifi was causing a lot of latency so everyone arranged an ethernet cable to connect to the internets. Once we were all wired the latencies went down a lot. We were physically within 50 miles from each other but turned out the distance didn't really matter. The biggest latency came from going from one ISP to another. For example, I had Time Warner cable and so did the guitar player and the latency between us was about 10 milliseconds. That's easily low enough for practicing real time. But, the rest of the band was with another ISP and there was a slight delay, audible in particular with the drums. Had we all been with the same ISP we would have been able to "groove over the internet".
  4. I just remodelled my bedroom studio so if there"s still room count me in!
  5. That sounds great! And cool arrangement! Who wrote it?
  6. The idea is good but sometimes you press the pedal down a lot, depending on what you play. It can be multiple times per second. You'd be getting a serous workout if you would try to control it by shifting your weight.
  7. I did not know this. Can you share a link where there's more information about the online editor?
  8. What's the original hardware synth? Maybe that's because with the HW board the pitch bend is just an analog signal changing the pitch in the VCO but with Kontakt the picth bend is converted to Midi and there are only 127 steps available.
  9. Sennheiser fan boy here. I have HD600's and HD280's. And, I'm considering of buying the Sennheiser Momentum wireless ear buds. As per internet reviews they sound better than Apple iPod pros. I'm also a Apple fan boy so the iPods would make perfect sense from ecosystem standpoint but then again, as per reviews the Sennheiser ear pods sound better.
  10. One thing that Korg missed with the upgrade is that the control panel still doesn"t transmit MIDI (I"m assuming that"s the case because the MIDI implementation in the user manual has no changes in it). Some of the buttons like the preset buttons transmit MIDI but wouldn"t it be cool if for example the EQ pots could be mapped to control the EQ in Mainstage or some other external module. The SV-2 could have made a killer MIDI controller with access to all the effects, reverb, overdrive, EQ etc. right there in the front panel.
  11. So you"re saying that Grandstage has different keybed action from SV? They both have what Korg calls RH3. I wonder if there are different 'variants" of RH3s. I went to Guitar Center the other day and they had a Kronos there. I could swear the action felt faster than in my SV-1 and yet Kronos has RH3 too. I really liked the Kronos RH3 and would love to hear that SV-2 has the same action. By the way, I put my SV-1 for sale when I heard that a new version is coming and the SV-1 sold right away. So, I"m in the market for a new weighted board and I"m seriously considering SV-2. I think my choice will probably be between SV-2 or a Controller + Mainstage.
  12. Where did you order your SV-2? Sweetwater says available for per-order and MusiciansFriend says shipping in March.
  13. How sad. In my list of favorite piano players he was #1. I saw him play live 3 times. Amazing musician. RIP.
  14. SV-1 73 has particle board too. I"m not sure what the problem with it is. It does add to the weight but the weight of SV-1 is no secret. I have other keyboards with particle board too (Yamaha S90 ÃS, Promega 2) but I have also boards with plastic bottom (MoXF). Other than weight I prefer particle board over plastic.
  15. That's a good point. The keyboard road cases come with cushion.
  16. Thanks, I didn't know about that forum at all! It seems that Dopfler has pretty mixed reviews. I think I would want to try one out before buying. Perhaps the new Roland A88 mk2 would be an option too. Luckily I'm not in a hurry with this. It's great to have so many boards to choose from :-)
  17. I"m going to try to introduce MainStage in my gig rig - one more time. I"ve tried twice before, got frustrated and went back to hardware boards. Anyways, long story short, I"ve been browsing the Internets for a weighted controller and there"s one keyboard that seems to have pretty much everything I need, Doepfler LMK4+. It has 88 keys with Fatar TP/40 keybed. It has a flat top making it possible to put my upper board right on top of if and get the keyboards really close to each other. It has buttons to send program changes and a built in hard case. Just basically a no-nonsense design, and the whole package is about 50 lb (20 kg) with hard case! The only drawback is that it"s expensive, but apart from that it looks like just what I need. Then I went to search for the forum for opinions and information on it and I can"t find almost anything! All I could find was almost 10 year old thread where Tonysounds had had bad experiences with the board hanging constantly. Other than that I can find very little feedback from users. There are some major retailers, like Sweetwater that are selling it. If it was so bad quality wouldn"t you think that they would stop selling it?! And, if there were issues you'd think that they've fixed them by now. So, anyone with experience on recent versions of Doepfler LMK4+? Have you had issues with it? And, how does the keybed compare with the other TP/40 boards out there, like Nord Stage and StudioLogic SL88 Grand? What"s your verdict on the board?
  18. I have gigged with a pair of ZXA1"s for about 5 years. I"ve had situation where the speaker stops working about 2-3 times. The reason was always overheating. The speakers were in direct sunlight, they got really hot and did a thermal shutdown. Other than that I"ve had no issues with them. I have no insights into the Yamaha Dbr10"s.
  19. it is just leaning on the Korg and poles but I installed a cushion on top of the Korg and the rubber feet of the Nord rest on the cushion. I haven't had any stability issues with it. See the picture, it's actually a baby safety cushion. You can find it in Amazon under name "M2cbridge Multifunctional Edge and Corner guard" for $10. But, a word of caution!! The cushion is a PITA to take off. You may want to use double sided tape that leaves no residue just in case you want to remove the cushion. I'm speaking from experience ð¬
  20. Here's a picture of my recent setup. SV-1 on bottom and Nord Stage on top. I'm using an old X-stand with the upper tier horizontal bars removed. I installed a baby safety bumper list on top of the SV-1 to prevent it from getting scratched. I actually just purchased a K&M 18880 so I'm also working on figuring out build my setup using it :-)
  21. What's the problem with the particle board?
  22. I have iPhone X too and the same problem. Switching the phone to landscape helps but how is it that it paginates correctly in the landscape mode but on in the 'usual' mode? Is this only an issue with iPhone X? By the way, it's the same problem with Safari and Chrome in the iPhone X. All other forums seem to paginate correctly, for example Nord User forum and Gearslutz.
  23. This is the first time I hear of 3rd soundpack. Can't find anything about it in the internets. Am I missing something?
