  1. Just curious, what do you mean by "58in of linear dimensions"? NS3C is 42" long without case.
  2. I have both Mac and iPad versions of the Scarbee EP88, and I think the iPad version is a scaled down version of the Mac version. It feels like there's less dynamics in the iPad version. Maybe there are less samples per key or something else but the iPad version is significantly smaller (in bytes) than the Mac version. So, if you like the iPad version of the EP88 you will like the Mac version more 🙂
  3. Is that true that Nord Grand does not have escapement? I though it has the same keyed as Kawai MP11SE and that one does have escapement.
  4. My sources tell me it is called Mon-Stage. It's similar to the current model except that the color is red and the price tag is $2k higher..
  5. I'm using the song mode with my NS3 all the time. It really helps in a situation where I need to use multiple patches within a song. Basically, the song mode gives me an instant access (=one button press) up to 5 different patches. Or alternatively, with a foot switch I can have 5 patches one after another just by kicking the foot pedal. I could produce the same result by organizing the patches so that the sounds for one song are all in one bank, but that would mean having to make a lot of copies of the same sound. So, I certainly hope the song mode is somehow still there with the Nord Stage 4.
  6. If you're considering Yamaha YC + iPad vs. Nord Stage 4, keep in mind that with Yamaha + iPad you can browse the internet during the gig if the music get too boring to play. Good luck doing that with Nord Stage 4 only!
  7. Looks like the A/B panel concept has changed from what it was before. Now there's a volume slider for Panel A/B instruments, and you can control the volumes without toggling the panel A/B switch. (Or that's if I interpret the picture correctly). That is definitely a nice feature to have. How many times have I tried to adjust the volume of an instrument just to realize that I have the wrong panel active.
  8. Q: What's the difference between a large pizza and a jazz musician? A: A large pizza can feed a family of four.
  9. Thanks for the tips! I'm running it on 2017 Mac and so far haven't had performance issues.
  10. Thanks to everyone for comments. I’ll pull the trigger and acquire the Diva. I can’t believe it’s been around for a decade already. Where have I been all these years..
  11. Based on recommendations on another thread here at KC I went and downloaded a demo version of u-he Diva, and man, it sounds good! I can't really express what exactly it is that sounds so good but it feels inspiring to play it and I feel I want to somehow add that to my live gig rig too. Needless to say that a GAS attack is what follows.. Anyways, It's priced about $190 at u-he website but Native Instruments has a u-he sale until Jan-10 and the Diva is priced at $90. That sounds like a great deal but I wonder if there's some catch 21 there. Does anyone know if it's the same version that's available at u-he website or is this some Native-Instruments version that requires Kontakt or some other NI software to run it? Also, I can't figure out how to run the Diva demo version as stand-alone, that is, without a VST host like Logic or MainStage. Is the Diva only available as a VST plugin and not as stand-alone app?
  12. Praise the Nord! And by the way, Nordstrom has Christmas sale for all Nord fan boys out there (including me). Just make sure to ask for red wrapping paper for your gift packages! https://www.nordstrom.com
  13. Which powered hub are you using with the iPad? I acquired a "Atolla 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub " but no luck. The Audiobus app in my iPad displays "Radial Keylargo" as an output option (it displays it even when connecting directly without the hub) but no sound. The Keylargo works fine with my Mac so I think the hub is the problem.
  14. Perhaps a little off-topic but here is Finnish comedian Ismo's take on the matter:
  15. I don't know about other Nords but the Stage has mono out button, Shift + Panel A.
  16. Matt Johnson’s patches sound really good to my ears. I’m considering of buying a few of them. In addition to being a synth head, Matt Johnson is also an amazing player. I’m subscribed to his channel and I think it's a great resource to keyboard players of all skill levels.
  17. I used to have silmilar setup with Keylargo & Yamaha MG6. I don’t sing though, the reason for the Yamaha mixer was to mix the FOH monitor feed with my keyboards. However, something about routing the keys through the Yamaha degregated the sound compared to just using the Keylargo, and I ended up ditching the Yamaha and running Two XLR cables to my monitors, one for the keys and one for the FOH feed. That way the “mixing”is done in the monitor. However, your situation is different. You need something to mix the vocals and keys to your in-ears. I have a super-lightweight setup where I use Behringer MA400. If you had only one keyboard that would work and it’s about as lightweight as it can get, but you have 2 keyboards in the setup. Here’s a wild idea: How about you ditch everything except the Hammond and get that Kurzweil K2700. It has audio input with effects and and another stereo input. You could use the other input (with effects) for vocals and the stereo input to mix the other keyboard. I don’t know if that would actually work but just some food for thought. For the hum issue, if the signal going to the FOH is clean and the signal going to Yamaha has hum, could the reason be that while the Keylargo XLR output is transformer isolated, the 1/4 output actually isn’t. Maybe try putting a DI box between the Keylargo and Yamaha next time the problem occurs to see if that would do the trick.
  18. Keylargo has USB type B port. USB type B does not deliver any power, it expects the other end of the USB cable to deliver the power. Same goes with the lightning port in iPad/iPhone, it also expects the other end to feed the power. If you found a cable connecting Keylargo to iPad (good luck finding such cable) you'd have two gadgets both expecting the other end providing the juice. A USB hub solves that puzze.
  19. I'd be curious if anyone has had a chance to compare QSC CP8 vs. K8.2. The CP8 is 6 lbs lighter, and lighter on the wallet too. I'm using EV ZXA1 at the moment and wonder if a switch over to QSC CP8 would upgrade the sound.
  20. What's the red box on the left side of the Stage? And what's that thing with display on the left end of the Wave?
  21. I'd love to talk with you about this sometime. Maybe after the holidays? Absolutely! Whenever it works for you.
  22. I'm using the Camera connection kit in the iPad and then USB cable to the keyboard. I actually use it to control just one keyboard but I don't see why it would not work with multiple keyboards. You could use a USB-MIDI to DIN-MIDI coverter cable and then just chain the keyboards using MIDI through if your keyboards have MIDI through. In other case you would need a MIDI splitter. In forScore it works so that you tell forScore to "learn" the program change messages. With multiple boards you would just assign different midi channel to each board. However, I would start by checking whether forScore works for you as chord/lyrics tool. If it doesn't work then there's no point to think about the midi routing stuff. I'm pretty sure there are many other ways to achieve what you're looking to do in case forScore doesn't work for you.
  23. I'm using iPad with forScore app. When I tap the screen it opens the next chart and sends program change messages to the boards.
