  1. It’s growing on me! Jon Davison has a quirky way of phrasing rhythms and placing accents. After you listen a couple of times you start to see how it’s flowing. FWiW, I like the previous two albums a lot. 🙂
  2. This thread makes me feel a little nostalgic for the days when I did conventions and … oh wait, no it doesn’t! Hahahaha
  3. I thought I was the only one! I bought a 73 key version of the Hammond SK-1 and it drove me crazy.
  4. Wow. Sometimes we think our heroes lead charmed lives. I guess sometimes they do …
  5. I just went back and listened again to Native Dancer. One of many sublimely beautiful creations from Wayne Shorter.
  6. Been there! 🙂 Or this one: you’re playing in a lobby and the hotel sound techs can’t figure it how to turn off the Muzak. Which is emanating from a speaker right over your head. Not to worry though, the manager has a solution: “Can’t you just play along with it?”
  7. There are signatures and hooks, there are solo sections that are open for anything, and occasionally there’s a solo that is a fully formed composition within the song. Much of Steve Howe’s work with YES, and some of Steve Hackett’s parts with early Genesis are unimprovableupon. IMO 🙂
  8. I like Beato. Among other things, he’s an exceptional interviewer.
  9. Now this is interesting. She has blinding chops, and yet is sensitive and musical.
  10. Great video, Sam! These guys are fearless. I first became aware of Fred Hersch when Keyboard Magazine published his arrangement of ‘What Child is This.’ Sublime.
  11. I know there’s a guitar forum, but I have a feeling you all will appreciate this. Let’s put it this way: if Keith Jarrett played guitar …
  12. Thanks again everyone! Great input. I think I’ll get a couple of T7s.
  13. I’m thinking of picking up one of these. Any thoughts or advice? Maybe the Samsung T7 or … ? I have a 2021 M1 MBP. I’m assuming it’s just a matter of connecting a USB-C cable and dragging the files across. TiA! 🙂
  14. You’re absolutely right that it’s just barely movable. Not for gigs 🙂 I think the demand would be from people wanting to use them in churches and living rooms.
  15. I quite like this. I could definitely see one in my church. The video was kind of refreshing. 🙂 Clearly the main presenter made no pretense of being a flashy virtuoso. He just explained it in simple terms and then brought in a couple of players. Pretty cool.
  16. There are definitely agents and venues who insist that you cover up the logos. Usually the same people who hate orange extension cords.
  17. Major 2nds always feel good. For a chord? 1-2-5 with the 3rd in the bass. I could play that ‘til the cows come home.
  18. This is horrible news. He was soulful, innovative and maybe even unique.
