  1. Found one more. 'Evil Woman" by ELO has a neat little clav hook in the choruses:
  2. I have debated Keith Emerson vs. Rick Wakeman with myself over the years. Sometimes I'd think one was better, then the other, back and forth. I eventually decided that Emerson was probably the better player, but that I happen to like Wakeman's style better, subjectively. Fortunately, I don't have to choose either/or on a permanent basis...I can listen to either one depending on my mood. If Wakeman's face got chiseled on Mt. Keymore, I wouldn't argue. Grey Same here. I like both Emerson and Wakeman individually, but I tend to give Wakeman the nod because of the context. I like YES way more than ELP. And I like ELP!
  3. Chick is a sentimental favorite right now, but he undoubtedly owns a spot. I would personally like to see Lyle Mays up there, along with Elton John, and forgive me, Rick Wakeman. And just to prove that punctuation is important, that last one could have read 'forgive me Rick Wakeman" if I hadn"t double checked.
  4. I listened to some RtF earlier today. Just as an aside, I realized that I had forgotten what a great rockin" motor Stanley and Lenny were. It reminded me a little bit of 'Relayer!"
  5. You might want to get a tetanus shot ð before you play it!
  6. Please forgive the digression, but is your new MBP an M1 with Big Sur? And if so, what are you using for an audio interface? I"m ready to go shopping ;-) Oh, and I went to Musescore and like it just fine. My needs have gotten simpler in that area over the last couple of years. But I also invested a lot of time with Sibelius, so I understand you wanting to stay with it. Good luck on finding the right solution!
  7. That"s great that you got it working in time to get your project done! Sounds like your guy went above and beyond. As for me, give me a relatively recent MBP and a relatively recent Toyota and I"m good. ;-)
  8. My first synth was a Micro-Moog. One thing I liked about it was that it came with an owners manual that gave a clear explanation of the signal flow. It compared the synthesizer to the trumpet: oscillator = mouthpiece, filter = valves, and amplifier = bell. Or something like that Anyway, it was enough for me to learn the basics, and the ribbon awakened a desire to play lines with twiddling. Who remembers the name of the Moog associate who wrote the manual with the clever analogy?
  9. Then, a Kronos 3 with every upgrade desired would flood the market with 1st and 2nd generation Kronoses. That would kill Nautilus sales. If at all, I think it will be several years before Korg considers an updated Kronos. *You wrote 'Kronoses" and my inner ear heard 'Kro-noses." I apologize for the silly digression!* Oops, I lopped off the front of the quote. That was from Prof D.
  10. We just re-watched the LotR trilogy and The Fugitive. Both held up really well. I had just re-read the trilogy for the ? time, and once again found new layers.
  11. I would find a teacher and a guitar with an easy action.
  12. Wow. Between this and the Hammond Pro, I almost wish I was gigging again.
  13. This More often than not, I'll check out a board in the store and my first response to the action is.....ewwwwww (Korg Krome!) Although sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised (e.g. Got my hands on one of the recent Dave Smith boards and was impressed with the feel). You never know; even with the best reviewer. Ain"t that the truth. I once bought a keytar sight unseen. I had seen a video from one of the company"s product demonstrators. He sounded awesome; I could hardly play it. There was something weird and off putting about the action. Something to do with the fulcrum point of the keys, maybe? Well, hey, maybe a limitation on my part, or maybe he had done some extra practicing with that particular action. I did have some fun playing it in a wedding band on a couple of songs where a refined technique wasn"t required.
  14. The same way that a vehicle can take damage in one scene, then be dent free in the next scene. Yep. You've been watching movies for way too long when asking youself how that standard 9mm clip held more than 18 shots. Now, I see dirty cameras, shadows from the camera crew and other production issues that haven't been cleaned up in post. But, I guess that will be par for the course especially with some of these Netflix originals. I think there"s an episode of 'Fawlty Towers" (Gourmet Night maybe?) where you can see crew members and boom mics in a couple of shots.
  15. Mostly streaming at home, even before the pandemic. We just rewatched LotR, which totally holds up. However, our small town has a surprisingly nice theater, yes only one ;-) and we liked going there until we couldn"t.
  16. I was impressed. My wife, on the other hand, was able to contain her enthusiasm.
  17. Good question. It would take sharper eyes than mine to figure it out from that little video.
