  1. 🤣 That’s how I really feel, but rationally I try to stick with the idea that is good that people are learning and playing a real instrument. [I’m sure the first time I saw the commercial, the friend put the uke in the fire. I both agreed and disagreed with that take. I’ll say out loud we should not be destroying musical instruments, even if I don’t care for them. ]
  2. I neglected to mention that Alexa's X-stand comes apart. The horizontal bits are held on by screws so she is able to remove them and carry it flat as a bunch of tubes.
  3. My friend Alexa is busking her way across the U. S. via rail using the CT-S1 and a small amp that I guess is battery powered. I can ask her what she’s using. I have some videos a mutual friend sent that show the amp (unlike the photo) but I can’t post them here. However, she posted a video and it looks like it’s a Boss I think.
  4. Welcome back Dan! It was great to see you again and I’m glad I had some time in St. Louis to meet up with you. Thanks for the kind words, but I think you have me confused with someone else as far as that.
  5. Lots of unhappy people due to layoffs. https://www.sfgate.com/tech/article/bandcamp-bargaining-union-layoffs-songtradr-18432047.php
  6. Did anyone catch the UH - WV game last night? Spencer Tillman was right - whoever had the ball last was going to win. It looked like it was WV, but a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on their QB after the TD (I didn't see it so I can't judge) set them back a bit, so UH took a play, then a Hail Mary, and then… https://www.thescore.com/s/25450452 Wow. What a roller coaster of a game.
  7. I recently read an interview with Donn Landee in Tape Op, and he had this great quote. "I recorded a lot of bands with brothers: the Dragon brothers, The Everly Brothers, the Van Halen brothers, and The Doobie Brothers. The Doobie Brothers were the only ones that didn’t fight, because they weren’t actually brothers!" 😂
  8. He clearly said, "the best Hammond Organ sound in the shop." I can't expect them to try clones they don't carry. "The winner is a brand we don't have, and second place is another brand we don't have!!" Who would do that?
  9. He really nails it all with that video. I didn't know about the deal with Sweetwater though, nor did I know/realize that those "0% financing" deals were subsidized by the manufacturers. And I hope Sweetwater stays a decent company…
  10. He posted this humorous video to YT over the weekend. It's fun and funny. I've been a fan since he was a guest on the Keyboard Chronicles podcast and I checked out his stuff.
  11. This is no longer true. https://www.songtradr.com/blog/posts/songtradr-bandcamp-acquisition
  12. So am I right in realizing that maybe they called this "M" because it's more like the M series Hammond spinets, which had 44-note manuals (albeit starting with a low F), diving board keys, and one set of drawbars per manual? Not that anyone is shopping for a modern M, but it seems to parallel and using a different letter makes it clear that it's a different series than the S and X models they currently make.
  13. It seems to be the length of the video and where they can have ads inserted. Realize this was before the recent switch to one-minute vertical videos similar to TikTok and Instagram Reels. Those have now taken over the algorithm, though I don't know how or if the creators are making money from those. https://www.theverge.com/2019/7/26/8888003/youtube-video-length-contrapoints-lindsay-ellis-shelby-church-ad-revenue
  14. My understanding is that was done because a certain length gets ads or something like that so the creator gets paid. I agree it’s irritating to sit through 10 minutes of explaining why or what they’re doing before they actually tell you what you came for.
  15. I’m just reading this now, sorry. Also, I’ve personally tried neither of these but I’ve heard good things. Why not use something like bandcamp to sell your songs? I see a lot of musicians use it. It may not provide “your” site but it already exists to sell songs for artists. Another option is bandzoogle. They say you can sell your music and merch commission free and have a 30-day free trial. You can create your site there, unlike bandcamp. If you check out or try either of these, I’m curious what you think so please keep us posted.
  16. He mentions their appearance on Howard Stern. Here's that playlist on YT. At the end of "Mama, I'm Coming Home," Howard asks them about the guys singing the harmonies with Carrie. Check it out, that part is really cool.
  17. Terps are 5 - 0, Ohio State is next. I'm not holding my breath, but they have looked really good so far. QB might be the best in the conference. UH looks like a English football team that got promoted and is going to take some time to establish themselves in the new league, except they should have been ready for this especially with a coach that was previously in the Big 12, and some of their losses have been non-conference anyway. I don't know what went wrong there.
  18. Funny how you didn't mention who they lost to. 🤔
  19. This. Is already being discussed over at SSS.
  20. As far as streaming formats, Apple Music is available as Apple Lossless, which, as the name states, doesn't throw anything out like lossy compression formats do. It doesn't cost anything extra, you just have to go into your settings and turn it on. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212183 That being said, I agree with them and have found that their AAC codec is really good. I thought I was getting Apple Lossless on my Mac recently when I was checking my new speakers and then realized weeks later I was still using AAC. I couldn't tell. My ears might be shot anyway.
  21. Record stores? I thought everyone got their LPs from Columbia House.
  22. At first I thought it was cool but then it got weird with all the guys kissing Yoda and the scenes after that. I wasn’t sure what it was about from that point on.
