  1. Thanks to YouTube’s “you might like this” algorithm, I just stumbled on this guy: Which led directly to THIS: …and I HAD to share!
  2. They’re baaaaaaack! (Thanks to JHS.) https://www.rosselectronics.com/mobile-home
  3. Hnovi, there’s a point in the original post where “Jeff” is mentioned: Jeff is the owner of Kiesel. IOW, whether or not the initial screwup was at the shipping level of the company, the decision to withhold the OP’s purchase until the mistakenly substituted guitar was returned was either initiated or fully supported by the company’s highest authority. That’s seriously poor customer service.
  4. I know a lot of people use large zip ties. Very secure. And if you NEED to remove something, a quick snip with heavy shears or a good knife will do the trick.
  5. Like The Cult did with their latest release a few months ago, here’s Queens of the Stone Age with “Carnavoyeur”, a new track that sounds like a James Bond theme from an alternate dimension.
  6. Niiiiiiiiice! (The RevStar is sweet, too!)
  7. Forgot one of my P90 “holy grail” guitars! The Reverend Sixgun HPP https://reverb.com/item/72181196-reverend-six-gun-hpp-25th-anniversary-edition That’s the 25th anniversary edition, but there’s “plain” versions, too (don’t know off the top of my head what sets it apart). I’ve seen those on sale used under $900. https://reverb.com/p/reverend-six-gun-hpp?sort=price|asc
  8. FWIW, here are a ome of my P90 “holy grail” guitars: Godin Icon Type 3 https://reverb.com/item/71653615-godin-icon-type-3-natural-electric-guitar-fantastic-shape Hagstrom Tremar Super Swede https://reverb.com/item/546723-hagstrom-tremar-super-swede-p90s-3-p90-s-w-6-way-switch-for-and-array-of-tones Yamaha SA503 TVL https://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha/SA503-TVL-Troy-Van-Leeuwen-Signature-Electric-Guitar-Transparent-Blood-Red-1274115033883.gc Fret-King Black Label GG Mk1 Elise https://www.musicradar.com/reviews/guitars/fret-king-black-label-elise-gg-527357 Of those above, the closest I’ve come to getting one is fairly similar to the Yamaha TVL- a Manta Ray 390 LE 2011 https://www.premierguitar.com/reverend-guitars-introduces-manta-ray-390-2011-limited-edition
  9. No joke: Maynard Ferguson was my first concert as an adult- either fall of 1986 or spring of 1987. (It may have also been a date, but I was unclear on that, so the end of the evening was simply the end of the evening.) And by weird coincidence, I literally found the LinkedIn profile for that woman yesterday. (FWIW, still lookin’ good!)
  10. Hell…the original theme song from Hawaii 5-0! And, of course, all those great bands who carried the (tiki) torch all these years and refused to let the genre die.
  11. I’ve seen a LOT of pix of Dick Dale, and I’m not sure he wasn’t an incarnation of a Trickster God. I’ve seen him with lefty guitars strung properly, flipped righties strung for lefties, flipped righties with standard righty stringing, and some (possibly reversed) pix of him playing standard righty.
  12. That’s THE Revstar that caught my eye. I’m also interested in a Pacifica 611 (they’re a mid-priced H/P90 Stratclone) and several discontinued models. But like you say, there’s other stuff ahead of them in line.
  13. Just stumbled on Denis Pauna’s stuff a couple days ago. He does famous songs and albums in the styles of other famous bands. So you get something like this:
  14. I made a black bean soup with a twist. The results (above) were served with a ball of white rice and a dollop of sour cream. I soaked 1lb of beans overnight, then drained them. In my stock pot, I cooked 1lb of bacon (sliced into squares) and 1lb of a Louisiana hot sausage (all beef). After they cooked, I removed the meat from the pot and set it aside. I then added 1/2 of a large onion, 4 stalks of celery, one bunch of green onion, and a whole head of garlic (all diced) and cooked them in the meat’s rendered fat until the white onion began to clarify. I then deglazed the pot with one can of chicken stock and added the beans. I also added one chicken bouillon cube and 4 bay leaves. THE TWIST: the rest of the liquid the soup would need was supplied by the braising liquid from a pork butt I cooked the day before. That liquid was made from 2 bottles of Blue Moon beer and 2 bottles of Asahi beer, and had been seasoned with salt, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, brown sugar, chives, and parsley. (Plus the rendered fat from the pork butt, of course.) The flavors were a little more complex than my typical creole red beans. And unfortunately, I undercooked the beans slightly- they’re not as soft as I’d like. Overall, though, the results were good enough to warrant further exploration. While I could simply add beer to a pot of beans directly and get similar results, the experiment’s PURPOSE was to see what I could do with braising liquid after using it for its primary purpose. (Gravy is another option, but that’s a LOT of liquid to make gravy out of…)
  15. You’d have to work hard to justify that name, but if you had the chops & the stage presence/visuals for it, that could be a killer!
  16. This is astonishing bad customer care. Screwing up and then banning the customer who complained about the screwup? 😡😡😡 I mean…words fail. I don’t know your budget or current emotional status on this situation, but if you want, I’ll be happy to suggest other manufacturers with custom shops or even small luthiers who could deliver you & your guitar-playing spouse a great guitar with the desired specs- or damn close. And I’m sure others here could & would as well.
  17. If she’s P90 curious on a budget- or if you are- also look at Yamaha’s Pacifica & RevStar lines, as well as G&L Tributes. FWIW, Godin usually uses good ones, and Reverend guitars have some of the best stock P90s on the market. I doubt you’ll see a Fret-King in any American music store, but if you do, they use Wilkinsons. Good, but not stellar.
  18. Saw that in my Inbox this morning!
