  1. I need a mixer for handling my band's IEM. We are a 5 piece rock band with 4 vocals, stereo keys, two stereo Helix guitar rigs , mono electric bass, acoustic drum kit with 8 mics and 9 channels of tracks (click, effects, backup vocals, guitars and keys in case of emergency). Totally 28 channels, optionally going towards 32 if we need to add vocals, ambience mics or additional keys. I used to own an X32 which was excellent for what is needed but I'm a bit worried about the power supplies. I'd still prefer a rack mixer, perhaps a Midas M32 but less preamps and external parts = better. What should I look at? Any tips?
  2. The UB is a nice addition to the new league of analog synths but it cannot touch the OB-X8. Having basically the whole lineage of OB synths on one is mindblowing. I’ve owned both OB-X and OB-Xa and I’m 100% satisfied with the X8. I really really hope Sequential/Oberheim continue with the Matrix 12/Xpander next… Just add faster envelopes and we’re good!
  3. This! Entry and exit values are very important parameters, and also if your expression pedal has a 'dead' zone in the lower register (some cheap pedals and even the Roland EV-5 don't always reach 0 or 127, they often have a real world range from 2-3 to 125-126), exiting a setup with the expression CC at its lowest value could lead to problems "catching" the value again in the next setup. Been there, done that... 🤦‍♂️ Best of luck to You!
  4. Yowza! Reminds me of Michael Brecker's band on Tales From The Hudson; Dave Holland, McCoy Tyner/Joey Calderazzo on piano, Jack DeJohnette (on the album, and Jeff Tain Watts on tour). Pure fire.
  5. Tube watts mean business… I don’t go for blistering loud but I could easily shake the stage with the Tornado. I get some rattling from the handles - mine are not the fixed kind - but it’s easily fixed. I usually squeeze my gloves into the handles if it’s a problem. It has taken a few dings, nothing major. The 3300 is way tougher, though..! I bought an early series model for about 2700 with sales tax and shipping, but I’m in Europe so shipping is not all that expensive. I have to assume that all prices have gone higher nowadays.
  6. Not sure, but it will be on Swedish tv somewhere around Xmas..!
  7. Sure! I did about 25 gigs with the Tornado this summer, playing a Mojo. All IEM. It sounds and feels great to play, the bass response is even bigger than on any of my bigger Leslies (147, 142 and 770) so in a pop/rock context I needed to roll off a lot of bass. Having dual rotors does a lot for the sound, it sounds IMO way better than my 2101 and I don’t miss my 3300 at all. Next week I’ll play it in a more jazzy context, it’ll be interesting to see what it’s like when played 100% acoustic in a bigger room, I don’t think I’ll be disappointed with it at all.
  8. B3-X also works perfectly with my XK5, all controllers mapped immediately. 👌💪😃
  9. If the guitar player needs an alternate tuning on a gig, he/she needs at least two guitars. Or a Helix based rig which retunes automatically. You can’t play three minute songs and then retune for two minutes.
  10. That’s a great idea. I had to leave my 760 in our garden for a couple of days, a Weber grill cover fit perfectly..! 😂
  11. We found another Jupiter, will be trying mine today..!
  12. Yup, but not backup files. It reads X7L and X7U files, all I had was an X7A… bummer…
  13. I managed to get the Montage up and running again! It spent the night like this, leaning against a towel dryer… 😂 The video is from when the rain and hail started… it got much worse. IMG_2233.mov
  14. Yeah, that’s what I figure too. Perhaps I should let it rest until next Thursday and do the gigs this week with the spares the backline company provided, including a MODX6+. If I can figure out a way to convert my X7A file to an X7L, that is…
  15. I’m on tour right now and we had a bit of a situation. Lightning struck the stage as the stagehands were rigging backline, they had to evacuate the stage and my boards were left in the rain. One tech got shocked and had to go to hospital, but no serious injuries since the stage was grounded. My Montage and Jupiter-80 were caught in the rain since nobody could take them down and I really need them up and running by tomorrow night. Right now, the Montage is leaning against the heated towel rack in my hotel room. Any tips on other methods to dry them out? There’s no hair dryer here and I don’t have any tools. 🤦‍♂️
  16. I have an S9 and a module. They don’t do everything but combined with MainStage or a module like the Integra it’s a powerhouse. The acoustic pianos sound great in a PA.
  17. I bought my FA06 when they were new, still use it occasionally. It’s like a Swiss Army knife of sounds..! I’ve also been using the sequencer to play backing tracks from the pads. Very convenient!
  18. My setup is like this; Keys and sometimes miced Leslie to Mackie 1202 VLZ XLR outs to FoH tele out in stereo to Fischer Amps rack XLR in stereo (or mono) from sound guy. I balance their mix with my keys myself. mono out from Fischer amps rack to power amp -> butt kicker. I set the level and low pass freq myself. xlr cable to belt pack/passive stick with volume control.
  19. I emailed Jochen Fischer about this a while ago and got the following email back; ”thank you for your email. The In Ear Amp 2 have a installed hard limiting device in the gain stage and limits internal signals over +4 dB. Your input gain is perfect adjusted when the red signal LEDs flickers little bit while loud signals. Just in case of heavy increasing signals from feedbacks or other issues the limiter will cut the signal internal and the volume increase at the output stage and also your In Ears will be in a small range. You will also hear the working limiter and it’s a warning from to high input signals and adjust the gain to a lower level.”
  20. Fischer Amps is the company you want. They have the best IEM solutions with lightning fast analog limiters.
  21. I can do the following; Hammond XK5 Yamaha YC61 Crumar Mojo HX3 module (The Mojo is at a friends place right now) I’ve also got a Leslie 2101 mk2 and a Tornado Rotary speaker. And a LOT of work to do. What’s the deadline..?
  22. Thanks guys..! There is one SFX kit in the Krome as well as some GM sounds in that vein. I recognize the sample names in the voice name list. I’m pretty sure it’s what he’s looking for while buying a Kronos is a little overkill.
  23. A friend of mine is doing a podcast and wants a small synth for sfx and jingles. I’ve been trying to find out if the SFX kits in the Kronos are available in any of the budget models, can anybody shine some light on this..?
  24. I have an Elk hw unit, I’ve tried it over a distance of 500 miles (800 km) and had no problem with latency. It felt like the drummer was a few meters away, like a standard rehearsal space. 😀 I’ve been telling my friends to get one, now all you need is the subscription..!
