  1. Japan with brothers David Sylvian and Steve Jansen.
  2. Also Chipsynth OPS7. The developer painstakingly reverse engineered the Yamaha VLSI chips in the original DX7 and emulated them in software.
  3. I'm 64 and I actually prefer listening to new music I find on Apple Music. I'll almost never listen to the classic rock/prog stuff I listened to 50 years ago, maybe just rarely for nostalgia.
  4. Good list. I had five out of those ten synths years ago (Minimoog, ARP 2600, DX7, M1, D50). Never had any Oberheim or Sequential synths, and was never a Jupiter 8 fan. Almost bought a Fairlight, but I couldn’t justify the cost. I had an Emu EII instead.
  5. Thin crust pizza Fish & chips Potato pancakes Fried clam strips A hot dog (the works)
  6. 'Everyone, deep in their hearts, is waiting for the end of the world to come.' â Haruki Murakami
  7. Walking and hiking a few miles a day. I have a rowing machine I use when the weather is not so good.
  8. I've heard good things about DistroKid, haven't tried it yet myself. "Pay only $19.99 to upload unlimited albums & songs for a year (our competitors charge at least 2x that just to upload one album)." https://distrokid.com
  9. I've seen Reverb ads that I thought were ridiculous, but this is far beyond that. You could buy almost two 2022 Corvettes for what they're asking: https://reverb.com/item/48735698-yamaha-cs-80-synthesizer-1980
  10. Be careful with your taxes for next couple years. When you retire early you're limited on how much you can make, if you make more than the limit they nail you with taxes. Yeah, they'll take 50% tax for anything I earn over $19,000 per year. Once I'm at full retirement age, I can earn as much as I want and they'll take the normal tax rate.
  11. That's exactly why I started taking SS at 62. I figured that if I waited to my full retirement age of 66 years 8 months, I would have left about $80,000 on the table and it would also have taken me to about 77 to make it back. I might be dead by then, so I'd rather take the money now.
  12. Plus us old geezers get a 6% SS increase next month. Happy New Year !
  13. I've been playing for over 45 years and I was thinking about quitting because it seemed to be more of a gear obsession than about the playing. Years ago I was convinced I could be the next Brian Eno or Klaus Schulze and I did have my fifteen minutes, but at 64 I'm kidding myself if I think what I do will get much further. Even so, when I get in the zone, it's like I'm in my own world, and that still makes it worth it.
  14. Contrabass clarinet: [video:youtube]
  15. I used to see Jeff Lorber Fusion at Toad's Place in the early eighties and his saxophone player was Ken Gorelick, later to be known as Kenny G. He was a pretty good sax player in that band, I don't know what he's into now that he's Kenny G, but it's probably not what he was playing back then.
  16. I just got my M1 Pro MBP 16" and I'm hoping Arturia will have M1 native versions of their software soon. Seems like they've been dragging their feet. They did have a statement on their website for close to a year about them working on M1 compatibility, but it's no longer on the website. That either means updates are imminent or they're having problems updating their stuff.
  17. I wonder if the Owsley stuff still has any acid residue on it?
  18. I've owned many headphones over years and the Sony MDR 7506's are my favorite. For almost thirty years I used Sony MDR-V6 that look and sound similar to the MDR 7506, but they aren't made anymore. Both have excellent clarity and don't exaggerate the bass. I also have the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, but they're too uncomfortable and they exaggerate the bass. I recently tried the KRK KNS 6400 and hated them. Way too muddy and undefined, IMO.
