  1. I use the audio out all the time on my M1 MacBook Pro with MainStage and the latency can get down to 5ms or better, depending on what I have set up. I saw a couple articles about the sound quality of the audio out on the new Macs being better than many outboard USB DACs. Sound on Sound goes into some detail about the audio: https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/apple-macbook-pro-m1-pro-max?amp
  2. Oh, I get it now, it's one of those off-topic attempt at humor threads! Even though I've read the thread, I never would have known if I didn't play the Rick Rolled video.
  3. Minimalist ambient soundtrack by Jóhann Jóhannsson (R.I.P.) for the movie Arrival:
  4. In 1974, when I was 16, I walked into the Keyboard Center at Trumbull Mall in Connecticut and saw a Minimoog sitting on top of a piano bench. I knew I had to get one someday. It wasn't until 1979 that I finally had enough money to buy a brand new one. The funny thing is that after lusting for one for so long, I sold it for $650 two years later because I thought it was kind of boring. That was also about the time I sold my modded ARP 2600 for $1000. A couple years later, I bought two DX-7's and never had anything analog since then, everything was either digital or digital/analog hybrid. My workflow now is also totally software (mainly Arturia V Collection 9 and Logic/MainStage instruments), except for an Arturia MiniFreak.
  5. I don't really like much of anything from Mac DeMarco except for this one:
  6. Although I could never hope to play like him, it was Keith Emerson first for me, then Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and Brian Eno later.
  7. SUSTAIN CASE FOR THE MODAL ARGON8 OR ROLAND JUPITER XM https://analogcases.com/products/sustain-jupiter-xm-case
  8. Emerson, Lake & Palmer: Love it: Karn Evil 9, 3rd Impression Like it: Trilogy Hate it: Love Beach
  9. I’m an Arturia fan but I’d probably avoid a Keylab 61 MKII because I’ve heard bad things about the keybed feel. I’m looking at a Novation 61SL MKIII instead mainly because of its Fatar keybed but also for the many other features it has. I want to wait until NAMM to see if there will be any 61 note synth action controllers with polyAT. Maybe Arturia will release a Keystep 61 MKIII with a Fatar polyAT keybed like in the Waldorf Quantum MKII.
  10. My podiatrist recommended Hokas and I’m glad I got them even though they’re the most expensive shoes I’ve ever bought. He also recommended a Theragun Mini for my plantar fasciitis that also really helps. https://www.therabody.com/us/en-us/mini-blk-us.html
  11. Go to Iceland. Try mushrooms/acid. See an actual UFO. (not necessarily in that order 😁)
  12. It’s funny, back in 1968 when I was 10, I was listening to Burt Bacharach instead of rock music (I even had a few of his albums). Wasn’t until a couple years later that I got into prog.
  13. I tried acoustic and electric guitar for about six months and my fingers couldn't take it. I had some kind of neuropathy in the tips of my fingers that wouldn't go away until a couple months after I quit guitar. The other problem I had with guitar is I didn't get a feel for the fretboard layout compared to what I know on a keyboard, it didn't translate for me.
  14. There was a time that I would analyze everything I listened to, but I don’t seem to do that anymore for some reason. I can listen to music for pure enjoyment now without picking it apart, and it’s much better that way IMO. My attitude now is that I don’t care how it was done, I just care if it’s good music or not.
  15. That’s so sad. He was my favorite guitarist.
  16. Cat Gray is an amazing player. I watch him on Lets Make A Deal and the guy can instantly change styles like it's nothing. Cool keyboard rig he's got too.
  17. I'll buy one when they're available to the general public. I didn't get in on the discounted early order back a few years ago.
