  1. On the 351 that Stoken and I have, the keys input is a 1/4” trs jack the mic input and mic thru are both xlr the line input (for feed from FOH, etc) is 1/4” trs jack The three volume pots that control the three inputs sent to headphone out are labeled Line. Mic. Instrument.
  2. Yes. It is also wonderful with Mainstage etc. I find it to be fantastic with PianoTeq Pro and Keyscape. Taking the time to get the velocity settings detailed in each program really make it shine.
  3. Brought out the PX5S (version 2 for me as I had to retire the infamous red one) Paired with my new Fantom 06 Playing our annual headlining slot yesterday (Sunday afternoon) It was/is a perfect paring MIDI Din in and out connected them. Very simple as far as pedals. Sustain connected to PX5S, and Expression connected to Fantom. Thru deep menu diving on both boards, I can get each to control the other the way I want. It does take some time due to each board's 'unique' ways It is time well spent. One main thing I want to say: This is the first time in a very long time I've gigged with a PX5S. It was a straight 2 hour set. I had forgotten how much I like playing these keys. I can get very nuanced. My hands don't get fatigued. Also, the way I can setup the Fantom on a patch by patch basis, using an expression pedal on the PX5S is EASY. I can go into much more detail later, as I know there's been old threads on Casio Forum about getting the PX5S and new Fantom and Fantom 0 to be nice to each other. Here's a couple shots during set up and sound check. This PX5S will remain in its factory finish. @Mike Martin
  4. In short form, yes what you experienced is normal as far as what the Rolls will send out the XLR jacks to FoH. I've long ago stopped using the Rolls as the DI in my rig. I use a Radial Pro D2. and take the "thru" via a Y cable ts and ts to TRS into my Rolls. That way I ALWAYS hear myself in Stereo, regardless of what FoH does. My setup: mixer L/R to Radial Pro D2 Pro D2 XLR L/R to FoH Pro D2 thru to Rolls as above Feed from FoH with rest of band to Line In on Rolls via a XLR to TRS 1/4" cable Mic into Rolls MIc Thru on Rolls to FoH FoH does not send me keys or my vocals
  5. Yeah. The only place I found that said available is Kraft Zzounds/American Musical only show a blemished and a factory resealed ad available. of course we know Sweetwater says none. Guitar Center/Musicians Friend say they have a couple new in stock.
  6. This maybe my favorite from the movie. The only thing I didn't like, and it still gets a visceral reaction when watching: The only time the camera would show Jerry Harrison or Bernie Worrell was when they were NOT jamming the tasty solo and licks.
  7. Yes I've learned as I get older: Get what you want/like. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks about your choice of instrument because, frankly, it just doesn't matter. Just look at my current sig line under "gig rig" It's like synthdogg said above, "I really just want to play, and I want to have fun and be inspired while I make music...so I'm going to make sure I have access to instruments that are fun and inspiring for me. "
  8. I already use Arturia Jup 8, Prophet V, DX7, in my Mainstage Rig. I use PianoTeq 8 Pro for pianos. Shows in which I would use the AstroLab would use my PX5S for the piano and EP based sounds The AstroLab would provide the synth sounds. As I said, this is for unique situations. For actual shows where we sync lights and video, etc.. My usual Mainstage rig will still be in use. In fact I just got my new Mackie DL16S digital mixer to make it easy to use my Fantom 08, as my 88 board, as well as route various sub outs as needed. I can't ever imagine ditching Mainstage for the big rig gigs. The other thing about the Astrolab: I'm a gadget freak. I love getting these things and seeing what I can do to shape them towards what I want.
  9. I just talked with my guy at Sweetwater. It is a popular item. I ordered one. Based on my several years of experience with Keylab especially the MK2 61, there is no reason to worry about build quality. Based on the dimensions and published weight, I'm sure this will be just as robust. "So why get one if you have the Keylab?" Fair question. "Options" I own all the Arturia synths since forever. Some shows I do absolutely make the computer setup a PITA. I'm always a 2 keys rig. 88 and 61 Also, the ability to do all my setup of sounds on the computer, then transfer them into Astrolab is a really neat feature. I envision using this on the "throw and go" municipal gigs above my PX-5S. These show we are not running click to sync with our video show, and don't need all manner of audio outputs for various things. I read an earlier comment here making fun of this being called a "stage" keyboard since it's only 61 keys. What? My Fantom 06 and MODX 6+ might have something to say. Will the Astrolab be for everyone? Of course not. That's okay. For me, it checks boxes for the specific uses I would use it for. As do ALL of my various keyboards.
  10. whatever it is, I've got my popcorn ready for the show that will takeover KC for a bit.
  11. That is really odd. I've had a Keylab61 MK2 since they came out with the MK2 (replaced my original MK1) I have not had any discoloration of the keys on my Arturia, or any other keyboards. I don't store my keyboards in cases. When home from a show, they come out of the case, cleaned if necessary, and put on my home practice stand, or on a shelf.
  12. Both of the hardware boards in my gig rig setup can function as an audio i/o
  13. Greg, You want to get the D-Sub panels. Sturdy and largest selection of connectors for them Another vote for Redco 1/4" Passthru 1/4" wire it yourself Inside my SKB 4U StudioFlyer rack case Front side Backside with Labeled connections
  14. It's actually quite simple. The thing about the Montage/MODX is that the deep diving is meant to be done BEFORE you take it out to gigs. I personally love the Superknob and all that it lets me do without taking my hands off the keys.
