Pat Azzarello
Think about who you would hire to play on one of your tunes in the studio. This expands on Dave's "Favorite nnnnn" set of posts. This just makes it a bit harder to pick multiple bass players ;-) Pat http://www.patazzarello.com
Mark Zeger
good topic, but check Anderton's SSS board under "favorite sidemen" Keeping the choices among the living, my picks based on personal preferences, talent, and compatibility: guitar: Pat Metheny drums: Steve Gadd bass: Will Lee sax: Michael Brecker vocals: Sting Or just drop me in the middle of the Pet Sounds sessions with the "Wrecking Crew" and Brian in the control room. Pat Azzarello
A little different from Craig's post. I think Craig's is about paying homage to some of the great sideman (and women) whose name isn't in big letters on the front of album cover. I was thinking more along the lines of who you would want to play your music. The group you select could be stars or sideman (or your spouse if it helps you get better gear http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif Who would you want to play a solo, or a groove if you could have them? Dave Bryce
We did a variation of this one a while back - I think it was called "dream rhythm section", or something like that... Lemme see if I can dig it up. dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <==
Llarion
HAL BLAINE??? Wow! Cool choice! one of the most underrated players ever, IMHO... Magpel
Depends on kind of material, of course, but I could do worse than: Guitar: me, Ry Cooder, David Lindley, and Bill Frissell Drums: Richie Hayward or Jim Keltner Keys: Bill Payne and Bernie Worrell givesme the balance I'm looking for Bass: Hell, in this band Dubya could play bass (or D'arcy!), but I'll go with Charlie Haden for the acoustic and Klaus Voorman on electric with Flea on call. Incidental: I simply need to have Astor Piazzola there on the Bandneon Mark O'connor would come in handy also Check out the Sweet Clementines CD at bandcamp

Yeah, I've always been a big fan of him, Tommy Tedesco (I actually went to school with his daughter), and the rest of "The Wrecking Crew", and in 1996, got to play surf organ on an album track with Hal Blaine. Definately one of the high points in my recording career. steadyb This message has been edited by steadyb on 08-17-2001 at 01:09 PM
