mte
Hello, I'm currently in a rock band and I have Korg M1 and I'm quite satisfied with it. But now I'm probably going to join a band that gigs a lot and plays "music that sells" (pop, folk songs, and also some rock). The problem is that the M1 has bad sounds for those things... The previous keyboardist in that band had a Solton MS60 and they say it was very good so they reccomend it to me. Well I'd like to hear some of your opinions, what keyboards like that to check more and such things... Thanks.
Steven Denike
For playing in a Rock Band, try this one www.wersi.uk.com/abacus.htm It can keep up witty repartee with the audience between numbers and also file your bar tab as a tax deduction. sbrock1san.rr.com
The virtual analog keyboards are good for rock and pop, and coming up with your own original sounds. Access Virus, Roland JP-8000, and Nord Lead are worth playing.

x factor music
keep your m1 and pick up a Roland SuperJV 1080 used for about $500. it has all the sounds you will ever need in a cover band. use the m1 as a controller. jeremeyhunsicker.com
Mark Zeger
Bruce Hornsby was still using a 9' Baldwin + M1 on the Sat. Today Show last weekend. Then again, Bruce also played accordian so maybe the M1 is as close to the bleeding edge as he's willing to go! Another option for a "Swiss Army knife" module for playing covers is a Proteus 2000, about $775 new or $500-600 on E-Bay. Tons of great samples, simple OS, 128 note polyphonic, expandable, 6 outs, 1U. I just upgraded from a Proteus 1 to the P2K last week and it has major bang for the buck. Can usually be seen in pubs. ------------------ --Smedis,--

A cover band is one that plays other performers' material (typically hit songs) rather than original material written by the band itself. I assumed that's what you meant by "music that sells" in your original post.
