Recommended Posts

As many of you know, we are attempting to compile a CD's worth of material submitted by members of this forum.

In order to do this, we have posted the entries for consideration and evaluation by all of the members of the forum, whether or not they have contributed a piece.

The entries can be found at this web site:

http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/261/the_keyboard_corner.html

Please go there, and evaluate the piece called "Starstruck", submitted by Per Viberg (d_kay). Please post your comments on that tune in this thread. This link will take you directly to this piece.

If the artist of the piece would care to post any notes about the piece in this thread, they should feel free to do so.

Thanks for listening!

Hey d_kay !

I did not know you were THAT analog sounding... very pure.

I found my self thinking in some bizarre lyrics over it, as if it was a NIN tune.. has the right mood for things like that.

I felt it was missing some more instruments / orchestration in some parts of the song. But that's for my tastes...

Interesting work !

This is cool, although it's a little sparse. It would be great background music for film or TV. As for something to listen to directly, I might like to hear is filled out with some additional instruments. But if the effect you were going for was laid back ambient, then you've definitely succeeded.

Nice use of the Pro52. That's one smokin' plug-in!

Yes, it's a bit sparse, but it has a certain leavened delicacy because of it, I think...

My ear was inserting a tiny litle sixteenth note arpeggiation through it to give the bass groove a little height, but the mood and style are right there. Great vintage sounds!!

Definitely, this one is TOO SPARSE for my taste.

It has a bit of unfinished feel because of that.

(On the other hand I've been told that sometimes I tend to put TOO MANY parts into my own tunes http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/redface.gif.)

The sounds are cool though!

Well, hehehe.. Sparse-sounding is the intention, but perhaps I did overdo it a bit. And yes, someone actually recognized the pro52!, damn it how did you do that? http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif. At the end I put on an extra bass-line just to fill it up, although I'm having trouble "producing" my own tunes as they tend to get all too muddy somehow (that's why I kept it simple). And the Analogue feeling to this song is, simply because I have no money for sample-cd's, so... plugins is the only choice.

I actually considered to lower the strings because they are bit ear-soaring at times. And to lower the drums too, as the bass-drum is a bit too loud for this kind of song. The song is, well half done. The intro needs some work for example, but that's why posted the song in the first place, to get some opinions..

And this is not really a song with "expressive" bass-line http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif.

Better late than never. I finally got a chance to download and listen to the cd compilation tunes this weekend. It was pretty awe inspiring. I am still on a high about the great talent we have rubbing shoulders here.

Laid back cool here. Glass and silver and granite on top of a punchy bass. Its a little more minimalistic than my taste, but thats subjective. Whats the bass instrument at 155 seconds? Is that the pro 52? I dig that sound. Nice groove.

Cheers,

Jerry
