FORUM CD: Rate "AfterShock"

Dave Bryce

Recommended Posts

As many of you know, we are attempting to compile a CD's worth of material submitted by members of this forum.

In order to do this, we have posted the entries for consideration and evaluation by all of the members of the forum, whether or not they have contributed a piece.

The entries can be found at this web site:

http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/261/the_keyboard_corner.html

Please go there, and evaluate the piece called "Aftershock", submitted by Michael Oster of ReGurgiTron (F7sound). Please post your comments on that tune in this thread. This link will take you directly to this piece.

If the artist of the piece would care to post any notes about the piece in this thread, they should feel free to do so.

Thanks for listening!

Nice mangling. I must admit I do have a tendency toward this type of stuff. I've been to your web site & have seen your ads in keyboard magazine. Interesting material from what seems to be a very professional operation. I hope you didn't hurt yourself or get any on you. . . short but I don't know about the sweet. Leaves me wanting to hear more!

I turned the volume up to 11 on my second listening. There was a lot to hear in this piece, everything was dead on rhythmically and NOTHING sounded cheezy digital. Fantastic.

THIS HAS TO BE ON THE CD http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif

Oh, okay! Xample was by Steve. F7 did AfterShock.

Well, now I know what warfare sounds like on some other planet. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif

It's extremely inventive. It's kind of a shame that it doesn't eventually work its way into a groove, but I know that that was not the intent. Two thumbs up!!

Many thanks for all of your feedback! I'm glad you like my music (and it means even more when compliments come from the people of this group - who are extremely talented). There will be more ReGurgiTron, I promise.

Wowee. I'm listening to aftershock now on a cheap set of harmon kardon PC speakers at work (they just seem to go with MP3.com, you know?)

I must say, Aftershock is hitting these little speakers pretty hard.

Hmmm, quite an agitated little cut-up. It reminds a little bit of the cut-up collage technique of the band negativland, excpet that they would have had a lot of human voices threaded through, old tv ads and such.

On my third listen, I'm starting to hear more rhythm and shape than was apparent at first. I like.

Too off-wall for me. I listened to it a few times, and still couldn't find anything I liked about it. Still seemed to random. To each his own. People seem to dig it, so maybe I'm an alien http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif

It would be interesting to know what software you used to produce all this audio madness? Can't say I am a big fan of such pure avant-garde stuff though... But the duration of the piece is just right. If it would be any longer than that - doubt I would enjoy it as much as I did! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Cheers!

Better late than never. I finally got a chance to download and listen to the cd compilation tunes this weekend. It was pretty awe inspiring. I am still on a high about the great talent we have rubbing shoulders here.

Michael, I didnt know that computers could have so much life, anger and emotion in them. Electrons at war. Its this kind of music that makes me think we may one day be talking about the golden age of digital much as we talk about analog now. What tools do you use?

The thought came to me that I would love to hear one of your pieces performed in sync with some fast break beats, but that may compromise your integrity.

Cheers,

Jerry
