tenthplanet
It's a whole ballet but it's very moving. Prokofiev's "Cinderella". Best heard played by Russians, they seem to have a better feeling for it. In a jazzier vein there is Grover Washington's "Winelight". A good thing to play if you're feeling a bit under. Michael Q:What do you call a truck with nothing in the bed, nothing on the hitch, and room for more than three people in the cab? A:"A car".... Take 6 did a song with a similar theme on their live CD. It's called "Over The Hill Is Home". Good stuff- touching, but relevant. Roto
Somebody That I Used to Know - Elliot Smith I was listening to this yesterday. Great bitter break-up song. i know you don't think you did me wrong, and i can't stay this mad for long, keeping a hold of what you just let go - you're just somebody that i used to know. jdonnici
Songs that touch me... great topic. Here's a mix... Sinnerman (Nina Simone) Moonlight Sonata Prelude in Emin, #4 (Chopin) Prelude in Cmin, #20 (Chopin) Tears In Heaven (Clapton) Blue Spanish Sky (Chris Isaak) I Will Love You (Fisher) Fragile (Sting) Un-Break My Heart (Toni Braxton) Love Is Blindness (U2) ... and special mention goes to "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle (sp?). It's got a certain cheese factor to it, but someone gave me the CD when my daughter was born two years ago and that song will get me EVERY time, guaranteed. -- jeff
EricG
Songs that touch me emotionally..... In this category I am very weak for Sting. (My favorite songwriter, he has his own unique style. Have you heard the version of "Love Dance" on Terrance Blanchard's "The Heart Speaks"? It's a beautiful record of Lins' material with him on a couple tracks. Goldberg
Being a strong U2 fan, I must add one of their great, but often overlooked song: Sunday Bloody Sunday. It is kind of sad (couldn't think of a better word) to listen to it now, even though I wasn't even alive during the Bloody Sunday. As for classical: Liebestraume (I'm sure that's the worst spelling ever...) by Liszt The "Pathetique" Sonata by Beethoven (of course) 3rd Movement of Moonlight Sonata Fantasie Impromptu by Chopin Pachabel's Canon in D just to mention a few... "Bach is ever new"-Glenn Gould

More later? A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.
