RocketNetwork Announces RocketDelivery

New Product Allows Simple, Secure and Speedy File Delivery for Audio

Industry and Beyond

San Francisco, CA (May 10, 2002) -Rocket Network Inc., the global production

network for media professionals, today announced the introduction of

RocketDelivery. The new product allows users to send any type of file, or

folder of files, quickly, safely, and easily via Rocket Networks

banking-level secure network.

Demand for this type of functionality has been overwhelming, said Pam

Miller, Rocket Networks President and CEO. Rocket Network was in the

enviable position to create this product in a rapid timeframe because of the

robust infrastructure we already have in place. RocketDelivery leverages our

sophisticated network, storage and software architecture to provide a

reliable and reasonable file delivery alternative to FTP, couriers and even

email.

Over the past two years, Rocket Network technology has allowed users to

collaborate online using their favorite recording software/DAW. The

collaborative functionality allows multiple users to access and make changes

to a file simultaneously at the track or region levelfrom anywhere in the

world. RocketDelivery is tightly integrated with RocketControl Version 2.6

so that existing collaboration users can take advantage of the delivery

functionality without deploying new systems. Files are automatically

encrypted and compressed with our proprietary bit accurate lossless codec.

RocketDelivery can be accessed independent of an audio application and is

capable of handling any type or size of filefrom a DAW file to Word

documents or graphics. For example, a Producer could send an entire session

folder including DAW files, video, cue sheet, script, budget etc., as easily

as sending an email, but much faster, with far greater security and with no

size limitations. The flexibility of RocketDelivery will allow more than

just audio professionals to send and receive files. Editors, journalists

and other public relations professionals can use RocketDelivery for

transferring editorial content, high-resolution images and electronic press

kits.

Anyone who has ever been on a deadline can appreciate the benefits of

RocketDelivery, said Willy Henshall, Rocket Networks Chairman and founder.

FTP transfers can fail and they are not always secure, email servers have

file size limitations, and courier services put you at the mercy of their

delivery schedules. RocketDelivery is applicable in any industry that can

benefit from simple, secure and speedy file delivery.

Users pay for the RocketDelivery service only when they use it. Pricing is

based on file size and the number of recipients for each delivery. Files

sent via RocketDelivery can be sent to anyone, anywhere, even if they dont

have a Rocket Network account.

RocketControl 2.6 with the new RocketDelivery functionality will available

to both current and new Rocket Network users as a free download on Monday,

May 13, 2002 at http://www.rocketnetwork.com/installers/upgrade.

What's not clear for me is...

Does Rocket Networking have a cost for the user?

Hiya Gus,

The answer is both yes AND no.

:)

Rocket allows anyone to check out the system for free - but to use it regularly and effectively you'd probably want to have at least a basic paying account.

Hope that clarifies!

Well... that's perhaps one of the reasons it has not yet a miriad of followers... plus the fact not many users have high speed connections.

What was really interesting was that Rocket Delivery system.

Thanks, David !

anytime Gus!

Just to dispel one myth: you do not need a high-speed connection to do a lot of collaboration - I have a 56K connection and can do most things no probs.
