1300, but I should do a more objective comparison as they mostly go in the digital camera which eats all batteries very quickly.

Ah, there's the problem, quite low capacity. I use 2000+, quite a lot of mine are 2500mAh. I notice you can now get 2700mAh, which is far more capacity than an alkaline, especially in high drain conditions where the internal resistance is an issue.

Here's some at good prices:

Try Jessops for batteries too.

Yes it sounds quite far away. I had the mic level switched to low and all the instruments, including the guitar, were DI'd to the PA. The drummer was using Arbiter Flats which is why the Kick drum and snare sound a bit lacking.

The idea is we rehearse the music, rather than the volume :D

I'm loving this. Saturday's gig was all recorded, edited with audacity in a few hours and sent to the bandleader. Mondays rehearsal with the new band was all recorded, chopped into songs and burned onto CD for me to practise with - great sound - awesome little device!

I've not even use the 4 track recording or cubase yet.

I recorded our set from our CD release party on June 30th @ The Lakepoint. I should've turned the limiter off, but overall I guess it turned out okay for sitting the thing down on a table & hitting 'record'.

Here it is if you're curious... It's about 65MB though ;)

Samson are the distributors in the US. Zoom is made by Roland and I can't see anything on their website about it.

Its about $170

Zoom is made by Roland?? I didn't know that!! I thought Zoom was a separate company that was an offshoot (former employees) from another major company! Here is the link to their history page and I don't see any mention of Roland.

Doh: Boss are part of Roland? Not zoom! I think I have/have had too many effects bypasses.

Thanks for the correction.

Still can't see the new H2 on their site though ;)

Yes that's the same link as I posted twice already. It's just the promo from Samson who are the distributors in the US. Is it me or are you guys winding me up. There is no mention of it on the official zoom site. See link from DWBass. No user manuals or specs, recommended SD cards nothing, zip, nada.

Basically that link sells you the unit. It tells you some of the things you can do. But it doesn't say how easy it actually is to do it or what you can't do.

I'll always download and read a product manual before buying any kit to avoid disappointments.

It's probably a bit too new. It has everything but the manual up. Have patience. They'll upload a manual. I'm glad we cleared up that Zoom/Roland reference as I just received a reply to an e-mail I sent to Zoom stating that there is no connection between the 2 companies.

Well so far I've only really explored the gig and rehearsal side of things but last night I plugged in the bass and played with the effects and four track recorder aspect for the first time. That was a blast. What I ended up with sounded a little bizarre like a kind of funky King Crimson - not anything I'd post but I'll have another go.

I'm also looking forward to trying out the audio interface aspect this summer when I have time to get my head around cubase!

OK so far things have been going well, it's worked best for gig recordings when placed fairly close to the stage/PA - 10-20 feet - less well when further away.

Reggae ending of Beatles cover, previously posted

Then I got into playing with the four track recorder. I'm still playing far too much for four tracks of bass put together, I' just experimenting really.

This is something (not too musical) done with three basses after I muted the fourth track as it's too busy even with three. It's an experiment into the sound of the effects of the H4.

More is More

You can hear it with the added fuzz bass track

More is Less

It's mercifully short - 4 fretless bass tracks)

Slightly more musical but still not fully realised is a version of a tune I am trying to write a new melody for and had a go at improvising a newer one. It features fretless and fretted but no effects, I had a bit of an experiment at a stereo mix, not very successfully.

Searching

And finally!

A free jazz improvisation with myself on fretted and my six year old on piano (he's been inspired to play more music by Chico and Harpo Marx):

Sounds good. Keep them comming.

I recorded 2+1/2 hours of silence on Saturday night, when I forgot to switch from line to mic. DOH! Too rushed trying to set up all the gear on my own. Played a blinding gig as well, it would have been good to listen back to it. I think I'll probably take it to every gig now and experiment with different placements.

Still nothing at www.zoom.co.jp on the H2 weird!

I did the same, but it was one of Lisa's interviews for her Masters! Doh!!

I'm sure that was one great gig!

OK,

Here is the latest multitracked bass experiment. Four tracks - one that is flanged, one is distorted, one is just a 4 to the bar percussive string slap and one is a low, unaffected bass track using the Wal's active EQ - the last is the only thing that wasn't completed improvised a a first take.

Two similar mixes.

Definitely prefer this mix. It's only an improv but I think it has something I could build on.
