Gary Sinise a Bass Player?

Did you know actor Gary Sinise is a bass player? I was watching the news this morning, and they had video of him and his band playing for veterans families at Tinker AFB in OKC yesterday.

I'm not certain but it looked like he was playing a Warwick Corvette 4-string.

One of the episodes of "CSI NY" I happened to catch ended with him "relaxing" in a jazz bar after work playing bass at a jam session or something. I thought he looked like he knew what he was doing.

His band is called The Lt. Dan band.

I think it's a 10 or 11 piece band.

The lead guitar/vocalist is Kimo Williams, a tremendous classical composer from Chicago (I used to sell/work on his MIDI stuff).

"For instance" is not proof.

Bass and drums go together like peas and carrots.

The news clip didn't show much playing, but he did seemed to be playing competently.

Is is band jazz or Big Band?

There was a Memorial Day Concert that his band played. It was on PBS, and I recorded it, but haven't watched it yet.

The episode of CSI included a guy being beaten by holding a headless bass by the body and jamming the nut into the victim's neck. Just the sort of image I want to show my band to "encourage" respect.

And I'll bet he changes his socks for each performance!

..well at least they weren't hitting the bass against something that would damage it. The victim's neck was surely soft. :freak:

Reminds me of that "Who would you want to beat down with your bass" thread by Sam2000!

That's right Tom,... they go through this whole thing on CSI bout how it would or would not have been used as a weapon because of the finger prints being in irregular places for playing.

Here's an odd pic from the band's site.

here's a link to a review and synopsis of the CSI:NY episode "Stuck On You" , which features the "murder by bass" and the revelation about just what Mac Taylor (Sinise) does after work. (They just reran it last Wednesday).
