I even stuck a little bit of it in my cover demo (see bottom). I'm a big pop fan. Nothing wrong with good melodies! How about "Oh Girl" by the Chi-Lites (didn't Bruce engineer that one?) tradivoro
it don't matter to me - bread won't last a day without you - carpenters just fall in love again - anne murray Regarding rainy days and mondays, they credit roger nichols as composer... Is that *the* roger nichols?? I had no idea he was a composer... On another note, you can see the great number of people here that like these schloky songs, myself included, and yet we could never find one current tune today that's even on the same planet as any of these tunes... Maybe it's time to have new groups that do these kinds of songs... www.soundclick.com/paulradelat www.123writemelody.com
Kendrix
Schlocky soft rock.... How can I be sure & Groovin - The Rascals Venus- Frankie Avalon (I think) Up on the Roof- Drifters Because - Dave clak 5 (I used to play this sentimental gem of a 45 one over and over) I also well up when I hear the Mickey Mouse Theme. Its soo damned innocent and it connects me to my very earliest days on earth and to those of my own kids- it just gets to me. Someone please shoot me now before this affliction spreads. I like the way music sounds today, heck, I'm actively making music that's totally current, but I miss the lack of cynisism. The open expression of feelings. The only cool feelings now in songs are sexual, anger, etc. I like songs about sex and anger, but I also like songs about... um, corny head over heels love, heart pangs, Snowbirds, etc.

Lee Knight
That's right about England Dan. I never understood how "England Dan" could be an American and have a country music career. Is there bass in the caR-R
The Left Banke! Damn, I've been trying to remember who did Walk Away Renee for months! Thanks guys- BTW, Southside Johnny does a pretty rockin' redux of that song. hard truth
I worked in a bar that played a radio station that played nothing but seventies soft rock. It was horrifying. But I do have my guilty pleasures: Buffet's "Margaritaville", The Starships's "Caroline" Whoever's Pina Colada song. When I bought a house with my guirlfriend a few years ago the Carpenter's "We only just begun" suddenly made sense to me. I can live without ever hearing Miracles ever again but I do do appreciate they managed to throw in some lyrics about oral sex and got away with getting it on the radio. www.oranjproductions.com

Tedster
A song similar to "98.6"... "I love you more today than yesterday". Gawd, that fawker can sing. Has a range like Mickey Thomas...and that song always gets my toes a tappin'... And, a guilty pleasure of mine, just for the over-the-top production, and its inimitable early 60s vibe..."Special Angel" by the Vogues. It's like they pulled out every overproduction trick from the previous ten years, multiplied it by ten, and stuck it on that song. phaeton
Misc. Bangles... "Cruel Summer" comes to mind, but I'm not sure who that is. Some of the Go-Gos from the early days of MTV was great. Both versions of the "i'm your venus, i'm your fire, what's your desire" song, but i especially dig the one done by the hawt chicks. Stuff from the Runaways, though lots of my friends make fun of me for that.... umm... Oh, and there's lots of Ace Of Base that i really dug. Seriously. Dr. Seuss: The Original White Rapper . WWND?
