Do you write chord charts into your patch names?

During the 80's I never had the option. All we had then was program numbers, and were happy just to have the ability to save programs. I do remember someone in the 2000's advertising the ability to save notes within a patch. Maybe Roland, maybe Yamaha. That would have been handy. For someone like me who deals with stage fright, at the very least it is a security blanket. Just wondering if anyone here writes chord progressions, key information, etc... into their patch names?

I used to hand write out a little sheet with the keys for the songs in groups where we didn't use any charts and went full from memory. These days if I'm gigging the MODX7, it has this handy feature in the Live Set mode where I can add some text below the name (I think they call it the Slot Name or something like that), and so I'll just put that info in there (i.e. "Gm", "F", etc). If I still want to write out the section order (i.e. V1, PC1, PC2, C, Inst.), I'll do that on paper.

Can't say I've ever done that. What I do that's similar though is put midi / controller notes in Gig Performer Rackspaces. So I send a patch change to GP, it calls up a Rackspace for a song, I glance at the laptop if I need to and see a big cheat sheet with things like "Knob 4 = ARP Vol".

Chords charts, no. But since the Kronos offers text and near limitless options, when I create complex sounds/programs I often add details about which knob or button does what, etc.

I've never done that (or had gear that could to it), but it sounds like a good idea.

Nope - I do it the other way around:  I use forScore for my charts, and then use the MIDI programming in forScore to bring up whatever patches and/or keyboard settings I use for that song.  And in the forScore chart, I can write (or record) any notes to myself for that particular song.  See - I often use the same patch for several songs, and sometimes in different ways.  So, for me, it would not make sense to put one song’s information in a patch, because then that patch would be inappropriate for a different song.  I’m hoping this makes sense…
